1. 3/5Too many app ads, price increase after 1 month, we’ll see

   While I like the concept, not sure about long term membership with GymPass. Responses to reviews keep mentioning overall wellness, etc. I’d bet most people are paying for GymPass for just that, passes to a variety of gyms. Focus on making that the best it can be. There are a zillion other “wellness” apps that are free or a whole lot cheaper with better functionality (ie the Peloton app at $14/month). And if the price continues to go up I’ll go back to my old gym membership, add a $25 Planet Fitness black card membership for when I travel, and it will be cheaper while also supporting my local independent gym, so win win. The algorithm and forced location access should better manage what members see on the app Home Screen. I do not want to see list of virtual trainings or pushing one on one training with trainers that are located in NY when I’m in RI. It takes multiple steps to actually see gym I’m at then get to check in screen, which is annoying. Information about one check in, how to sign up for classes, etc. is time consuming and difficult to find. 3/4 of the time I have to call and ask the process or sign up for a class, which is a pain for me and probably for the facility. I also keep getting messages to reactivate my Gympass, when my membership is paid (was actually charged twice this month), so stop!

2. 3/5Great concept, poor execution and inaccurate gym info

   I love the concept of gympass since my employer offers this at a discounted rate. I travel a lot for work so it gives me access to tons of gyms. However, the app is super clunky, and customer service is slow and unresponsive. The biggest thing that will inevitably make me cancel my membership is the inaccuracy of data on the gyms, and more so - gyms not honoring what is described in the app. For instance, I showed up to do a workout, and the location was wrong. I ended up looking up the gym on google to find they were at a totally different location. Another instance was I showed up to do a workout at a gym, and the owner of the gym had no idea what gympass was and wouldn’t honor it. Another case where a gym didn’t honor it - at anytime fitness, the app says you will receive a key fob for access after your first visit. I get to the gym, and they said - no way that’s not happening, and you can only come in during office hours which is 11-5...so pretty much pointless bc who with a normal job actually works out then? On top of all this - there’s no great way to get in contact with support. I’ve called their support number - no answer. I email the support address, and still haven’t received a response 2 days ago. Probably going to cancel this until things get better. Update. I have been using gympass for 3 years. However, with the huge price increase, it’s just not worth it for me and I will be looking at classpass. For it already being subsidized by my company, paying $220 a month is absurd. The app has not improved at all - still very clunky, but I will say customer service is very responsive.

3. 3/5Inconsistent behavior

   Just want to start out by saying I love the Gympass service. However lately I’ve had issues with booking some of my favorite classes. It seems like the different scheduling integrations are a little buggy and don’t consistently update or show the correct schedule. For example my favorite yoga studio switched from MindBody to Glofox for scheduling, both of which Gympass has integrations for. Since the switch I’ve been unable to consistently sign up for classes. Another issue is that Gympass seems to largely outsource customer service to their gym partners, which makes sense but is also massively frustrating from a user experience perspective as I am left waiting to hear back from different gyms about whether my issue is resolved. The only other thing I can do for customer service is fill out the form on the app/site and wait for an email. The helper bot is not helpful as all it does it point one towards the faq articles. All in all, the gym pass service is carrying the middling app experience. It’s disappointing to have such a great service administered by a mediocre app.

4. 1/5Terrible customer service, terrible functionality & constant price increases

   There are gyms on the app that are not working with Wellhub anymore. Told customer service and they didn’t even fix it despite asking me multiple questions. You only see a limited number of classes you’ve taken each month rather than all. Searching for classes usually gives you the cheapest ones at the worst gyms. You have to actively search for the class you want. They just raise the price of the gold plan this January by $20 and I got another email today than they are raising it another $20. They didn’t even wait 4 months before raising the price again. Most of the good gyms also charge you more for things like cycling shoes or yoga mats. So again, not worth it overall. The app is becoming less and less valuable over time. Update: the second rate increase is only for folks who are no longer associated with a company. So basically if you’re laid off and unemployed, Wellhub is going to charge you more!!! Amazing business strategy from a company that “cares” about your health. Update November 2025: There are still gyms on the app that say they do not work with Wellhub. They recently made a bunch of gyms premium only gyms, so you have to go into a higher pay band if you want to use them. A new price increase scheme (they keep increasing every 2-3 months).

5. 1/5Nothing but problems

   Unable to apply through the APP. Caught in a loop which brings me back to the same place I started, which is entering my employer name and employee ID number. I could not choose a plan. I had to send an email to the help desk because you cannot call them to resolve the issue. So I sent an email to the help desk. I did receive a response email from Jen. She asked what was a good time to reach me by telephone to get me signed up. I told her anytime before 1:00pm. 1:00 came and went. No phone call. Then later in the day while I was at work,my phone rang from A number in Texas. I assumed it was a telemarketer and did not answer and they did not leave a message. I then received an email stating they called and I did not answer to their avail. I responded back via email explaining that I asked her to call me back before 1:00 because I work at 2:00pm. I did try to call the number that she called me from and it is just a recording and you can not leave a message and the call is disconnected from their end. She finally did call and she said she could sign me up over the phone. So that is what I did for myself, my husband and son. She did explain the benefits of Gympass and how it worked. Finally I was getting somewhere. She explained that since I already had an identification number, an email would be sent to each of us for activation and that we needed to download the APP. I still am caught in the loop because when I go to my profile, it takes me back to the registration process. I’ve tried rebooting my phone, reinstalling the Gympass APP countless times. Nothing has worked. There is more but I’ve wasted enough time writing this email. Maybe someone in management will see this and contact me.
