5/5Expensive Nagware but better
Update: They have quickly addressed my main concerns. Location icons are smaller. I’ve opened the app several times without being asked to purchase. Thank you! Original: The radar is great. As of April 2024, recent design change releases are not improvements. I have a lot of saved locations and the icons have become so big that I can’t see the radar map when zoomed out. The now constant nagging for in-app purchases, pretty much every time I open the app, is super frustrating. The growing clutter of unwanted links and feature upgrade buttons on most every menu is getting in the way of checking the weather. Please shrink the location icons or make them disappear when zoomed out and quiet the solicitations. And the new non-weather “discover” tab is just annoying. The developer has gone from one-time purchase to subscription making this purchased app an exercise in frustration without further subscribing at a steep ~$50/year which I have to assume would eliminate the now prominent nagging and make it wonderful. $50/year from even just 20,000 iPhone subscribers would be fantastic if you can get it ($1M/year).

4/5From bad to worse
Like many, I have had this app for years and still miss the slider. This has been a frustration for years. I have settled that it is gone. Over the last couple years, I have also looked for a replacement app and found none that compared to this app for resolution of radar and speed of loading. I also use RadarScope Pro alongside this app, but it is a more complex app and loads slower. I have liked the speed and resolution of this app. Until recently, I have been fine running a year old version of the app, concerned that I would not like the updates and I was content with the app as it was. But today, it just hung and hung and would not load any radar imagery. I figured it may be my old version causing a problem, even though it loaded yesterday just fine. So I updated it... wow, what a piece of junk app this has become. It is near exact to storm radar from the weather channel app but you have to pay for future radar also instead of it being included free. The resolution is so bad, so bad, so bad. You should probably change the name of the app away from Hi-Def. I will not continue to use this product anymore. I have rode out the disappointments for years, with it remaining a better option than many, but this latest version is a fatal wound.

1/5To be clearer: Radar Cast Elite 3.0
You are not allowed to clarify anything. It’s too late for Weathersphere. The trust was gone months ago. You still respond with lies and excuses. Its better if you keep quiet and remove the app at this point. This is not a good situation for you. Here is the proof you are all liars and lawsuits have been approved across the country. Radar Cast Elite 3.0 is a one time paid app that included the following: future radar, push notifications for lightning and precipitation, driving directions, and lightning strikes. All of which have been taken away from PAID users. This again is what we already paid for already. Asking for paid users to pay for these again is criminal. Making an excuse saying it was discontinued is a lie. The app is still in the App Store as the so called update current version. It would be wise not make the users pay again for features already paid. Or expect lawsuits to continue. PS: a lot of us have done research to know you continue to lie to the general public. The broadcast media has now taken notice about your fraudulent behavior. Mostly about the lies and fake positive reviews. Telling people not use this app and delete it. These developers must really like negative publicity. This customer service nightmare won’t end until you do the right thing. We all know that will never happen unless you get your heads out of your greedy cracks. If not, it will continue to get worse and escalate. Especially, since the media has taken notice.

5/5Good radar app
The only reason I bought this app was that I wanted to quickly look at precipitation/clouds covering and see where it was moving. It used to be perfect in his regard - I could use the little slider at the bottom to move time forth and back and get the idea very quickly. With the new version the slider is gone and it is only possible to start plying the time loop automatically. I miss the slider a lot! On my iPhone 7 Plus the app itself seems to be working reasonably fast. I like the new layer settings - it's much nicer than it used to be. Plus, I like that now it is possible to select the combination of precipitation and clouds! As far as I remember, you could have one or the other before. However, this combination has a problem with animation - when I hit the play button it takes the whole loop to show the clouds/precipitation that move. The other layers work fine in this regard so it is only this combination that has the problem.

1/5Want me to pay again. App Completely Stopped Working
This app has completely stopped working. I’ve contacted the developers twice with no response. The future-cast feature I had with this radar app are now offered as a subscription service in one of the developers other apps but I have no interest in paying a monthly subscription fee for features I’ve already paid to have by purchasing this app. I don’t know if this app was disabled in favor of the subscription model or not, but I’d like to have my money returned for buying this useless app. Update after developer response: July 24, 2018. To be clear. I have contacted the developer using both the discontinued app and the app they’ve updated. No response either time. Future radar was absolutely a feature in RadarCast- the app I paid for which has now completely stopped working. The other app (that I purchased before RadarCast) is Hi-Def radar. That app didn’t have the “future cast” feature (which is why I bought RadarCast) until it was offered as a subscription. I have no interest in paying each month for a feature I already paid for when I bought RadarCast. You already got me to buy two different apps from you- then you junk the good one and offer the same features on a monthly subscription basis by “improving and updating the old one”. I’ll never buy another thing from this developer. BTW this review was written through the dropped app RadarCast which I can still open but no radar images show up. But since that app doesn’t show up in the App Store anymore the review appeared on Hi-Def Radar. Funny how you can connect things enough to have your reviews all go to Hi-Def Radar... but not the emails people send using the contact developer link.

Original: The radar is great. As of April 2024, recent design change releases are not improvements. I have a lot of saved locations and the icons have become so big that I can’t see the radar map when zoomed out. The now constant nagging for in-app purchases, pretty much every time I open the app, is super frustrating. The growing clutter of unwanted links and feature upgrade buttons on most every menu is getting in the way of checking the weather. Please shrink the location icons or make them disappear when zoomed out and quiet the solicitations. And the new non-weather “discover” tab is just annoying. The developer has gone from one-time purchase to subscription making this purchased app an exercise in frustration without further subscribing at a steep ~$50/year which I have to assume would eliminate the now prominent nagging and make it wonderful. $50/year from even just 20,000 iPhone subscribers would be fantastic if you can get it ($1M/year).",

          "body": "Like many, I have had this app for years and still miss the slider. This has been a frustration for years. I have settled that it is gone. Over the last couple years, I have also looked for a replacement app and found none that compared to this app for resolution of radar and speed of loading. I also use RadarScope Pro alongside this app, but it is a more complex app and loads slower. I have liked the speed and resolution of this app. Until recently, I have been fine running a year old version of the app, concerned that I would not like the updates and I was content with the app as it was. But today, it just hung and hung and would not load any radar imagery. I figured it may be my old version causing a problem, even though it loaded yesterday just fine. So I updated it... wow, what a piece of junk app this has become. It is near exact to storm radar from the weather channel app but you have to pay for future radar also instead of it being included free. The resolution is so bad, so bad, so bad. You should probably change the name of the app away from Hi-Def. I will not continue to use this product anymore. I have rode out the disappointments for years, with it remaining a better option than many, but this latest version is a fatal wound.",

          "body": "You are not allowed to clarify anything. It’s too late for Weathersphere. The trust was gone months ago. You still respond with lies and excuses. Its better if you keep quiet and remove the app at this point. This is not a good situation for you. Here is the proof you are all liars and lawsuits have been approved across the country. Radar Cast Elite 3.0 is a one time paid app that included the following: future radar, push notifications for lightning and precipitation, driving directions, and lightning strikes. All of which have been taken away from PAID users. This again is what we already paid for already. Asking for paid users to pay for these again is criminal. Making an excuse saying it was discontinued is a lie. The app is still in the App Store as the so called update current version. It would be wise not make the users pay again for features already paid. Or expect lawsuits to continue. PS: a lot of us have done research to know you continue to lie to the general public. The broadcast media has now taken notice about your fraudulent behavior. Mostly about the lies and fake positive reviews. Telling people not use this app and delete it. These developers must really like negative publicity. This customer service nightmare won’t end until you do the right thing.           "body": "The only reason I bought this app was that I wanted to quickly look at precipitation/clouds covering and see where it was moving. It used to be perfect in his regard - I could use the little slider at the bottom to move time forth and back and get the idea very quickly. With the new version the slider is gone and it is only possible to start plying the time loop automatically. I miss the slider a lot! On my iPhone 7 Plus the app itself seems to be working reasonably fast. I like the new layer settings - it's much nicer than it used to be. Plus, I like that now it is possible to select the combination of precipitation and clouds! As far as I remember, you could have one or the other before. However, this combination has a problem with animation - when I hit the play button it takes the whole loop to show the clouds/precipitation that move. The other layers work fine in this regard so it is only this combination that has the problem.",

          "body": "This app has completely stopped working. I’ve contacted the developers twice with no response. The future-cast feature I had with this radar app are now offered as a subscription service in one of the developers other apps but I have no interest in paying a monthly subscription fee for features I’ve already paid to have by purchasing this app. I don’t know if this app was disabled in favor of the subscription model or not, but I’d like to have my money returned for buying this useless app. Update after developer response: July 24, 2018. To be clear. I have contacted the developer using both the discontinued app and the app they’ve updated. No response either time. Future radar was absolutely a feature in RadarCast- the app I paid for which has now completely stopped working. The other app (that I purchased before RadarCast) is Hi-Def radar. That app didn’t have the “future cast” feature (which is why I bought RadarCast) until it was offered as a subscription. I have no interest in paying each month for a feature I already paid for when I bought RadarCast. You already got me to buy two different apps from you- then you junk the good one and offer the same features on a monthly subscription basis by “improving and updating the old one”. I’ll never buy another thing from this developer. BTW this review was written through the dropped app RadarCast which I can still open but no radar images show up. But since that app doesn’t show up in the App Store anymore the review appeared on Hi-Def Radar. Funny how you can connect things enough to have your reviews all go to Hi-Def Radar... but not the emails people send using the contact developer link.",
