1. 4/5Good but the app is laggy

   This app is super helpful, the main issue I have while using it is the lag. When inputting information the character count for it is super slow/delayed to where it forces me to stay on a certain page until it registers that information has been inputted. After inputting information and trying to click done at the bottom it will not register unless I swipe the keyboard away. Clicking done in the top right corner works half the time, with it also glitching and forcing me to start over everything by taking me back to whatever page I was on prior to creating a new contact or new invoice. The import from contacts button does not work at all and the layout to get to customers invoice is great after learning where it is. Not being able to see or input the expenses unless I pay for the quick receipt plan in app is kind of a bummer. I’m glad the option is still available online and the system works great and the amount of different charts available is super helpful.

2. 4/5Great software. Less than perfect support and payroll, payments services.

   As a small business owner for many years who previously used quickbooks online, I can tell you hands down Wave is 100x better. It has way less bugs. It’s intuitive to use. Their video tutorials are simple and spot on for common scenarios. I would never switch back to QB after using wave, it’s amazing. But their customer support takes days or weeks to answer emails or chats and they do seem to mess up payroll and credit card processing sometimes. Wave consistently takes about 10-14 days to deposit funds into our bank account after a customer pays through wave payments with a credit card which is absurdly long and unacceptable by today’s standards. We do not have acute cash flow issues so we deal with this because it makes accounting and reconciliation truly automatic. But if your smb dos, I would suggest using Wave only as your accounting platform and something else for payments. Do not trust them for payroll or processing large (eg thousands of dollars) customer payments. Many people have had horror stories with this eg they mess up payroll and are impossible to contact or they hold funds for an entire month etc.

3. 1/5Worked great till my account was randomly suspended

   Worked great, after testing for 2 weeks was going to upgrade to the paid service but my account was suspended with no notification, no communication. I have no clue what happened, whether i did something incorrectly etc. the only way to contact support is if you have a paid account, otherwise you can only talk to an ai chat bot and then only if you are signed in. So i have no access to any support whatsoever, not even an ai chatbot. I guess all my invoices are dead, gotta go remake them, be wary if you use this program. Edit: 4 days later i have been informed i was banned for using bitcoin. For the record, i have never used bitcoin in my life, they have given me no further responses, and cannot provide me any context as to what the transaction was, the date of it etc. So after spending hours getting everything setup, I’m banned for nothing (i seriously have never associated with bitcoin nor would i know how to receive a bitcoin payment), and i have no recourse, my files, invoices, estimates, receipts are all gone now. Edit2: A week later I have been informed it was not a bitcoin issue, their automated system improperly flagged my account and had it banned. Ridiculous that I had to be locked out of my account for 1.5 weeks, I will no longer be using this software, ymmv.

4. 5/5Fantastic mobile companion for Wave users

   I use Wave for invoicing. This app has been incredibly helpful for times when I’ve been away from my desk but needed to refer to an invoice, check on payment status, record a payment, or any other of a number of additional tasks. For me, it isn’t a replacement for the full suite of tools and data available when accessing Wave from a computer. But isn’t trying to be — and that’s what makes the app great. In other words, the app seems to have been developed as a tool for accessing specific data or completing common tasks when you’re not at a computer. That clarity is evident when you use the app: it does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well. One more thing: I’m a freelancer who does work in two separate fields, and I manage the invoicing separately (a neat feature offered by Wave, where you can configure sub-accounts within one Wave account). I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the app supports switching between my two sub-accounts. That kind of functionality — the little stuff that’d be easy for them to overlook — is how you know this is a thoughtfully-developed app from a company that knows what it’s doing.

   There’s little quirky things I don’t dig, but it’s enough for 3 stars. I was going to just send an email to support, but couldn’t find it, which ties into my first issue: the app does not really flow and feels like it’s lacking something. The 2nd issue, when trying to save/send an invoice, it kept saying “can’t be saved, invalid format” but wouldn’t tell me the issue. Apparently my description was too long, but the alert didn’t tell me that and there’s no character count in the typing area. I do construction, so there’s times I have long descriptions, having a character count or allowing them to be as long as I need, either would be helpful, but the ladder would be best. My third issue, when I click preview I have yet to be able to find a PDF preview. I like to review my work before I submit, and most of the companies I work for would be using the pdf attached in the email, which it would be nice for there to be an option in settings for that to just be turned on all the time so I don’t have to remember. Oh, one last thing, you also can’t add files to send with an invoice (receipt, work order, timesheet, etc)

   Wave rejected my payment processing application because I lacked prior "payment experience"—a total Catch-22. Then my credit card stopped syncing. Trying to reconnect my bank triggered an error saying it was tied to payouts. Support told me to try again, leading to the exact same loop. Tired of phantom bank feeds and useless support, I canceled my account and switched to QuickBooks. Avoid Wave.
