I wanted to say I was really liking your app. I’ve even checked out purchasing wine quite a few times. It’s only a matter of time before I do. My favorite part of the app with you telling me what percentage of a match, a new wine is to me. I discovered anything above 90% I actually do like so I really don’t have to ask a Restaurant for me to try one anymore because I trust your app. I also like that now I have a little history of the things I like so when I come across it again, I can read my own review. They’re obviously too many out there for me to remember. I’m not exactly a sommelier with fancy descriptions, but I do you want to improve in my wine knowledge. That being said this week, I was playing around with the app and I discovered some changes. Mostly being that now you tell me something is a “good match” for me and when I tried it, it was disgusting.! And I wondered what happened to the percentage and then I saw that now you’re asking me for dollars and $.99 per month for an analytic. I understand the app cost money. I also understand you’re making money on ads to put this wine company’s product in front of our faces and our emails constantly. I’m not paying you five dollars a month on top of that to be a free advertising target for you to also make money on me. Five dollars a month is a Bank greedy and my girlfriend and I have been discussing and researching other wine apps because you’re not the only one out there. I nominal fee of a dollar a month is more than fair and I think I need one of us may have gladly pay that but five dollars a month is simply insulting. Just wanted to let you know. Whatever you take from this comment is up to you. My girlfriend and I are leaving your app and definitely I’m subscribing from your emails.

5/5Takes the guess work out of wine buying.
Update to below original rating: I used to love this app but now the functionality of this app is completely useless and does not work at all. The app has been declining over the last year with pop ups and slow load times. As of the last month or two Scanning a label is now impossible!!! Sometimes I’m lucky and it just takes a solid 3 minutes to load however 98% of the time the scanned picture does not load at all. I believe they are not accommodating the free app anymore and trying to get folks to upgrade. I’ve contacted the app directly but no one has been able to help or give a solution to the problem after much back and forth. ************** I use the Vivino flavor/character scale to decide on all wines I buy. Now I know if hits on the scale the characteristics that I’m looking for then 99% of the time I will enjoy the wine without fail. I love reading about the wine and the regions too. This app has come a long way since I first downloaded it years ago... I was reintroduced to it last year and can’t live without it now.

1/5Poor Business and Development Choices
Here’s my honest feedback about your app. I’ve been using it for about 6 years now. When I first started using Vivino, I loved it and would recommend it to all my wine friends and enthusiasts. Then you started putting in ads in the most annoying fashion. Your leadership and marketing team should be ashamed with your various implementation tactics. Of course, you’re going to alienate your users by taking features away and annoying them to death unless they move to the premium version. A better way would have been to entice people by the wonderful features your premium platform offers. Now I personally won’t move to your premium version just based on principle and won’t recommend your app to anyone. I just purchased a Le Cache 500 bottle wine cabinet and thought about switching to another app that I would have been happy to pay for. Instead I have adapted my usage to your free app and put up with the misguided changes you continue to make like not being able to edit the prior History notes. I don’t mind how the current ads are being done but I would never click on them to subscribe to a product via an ad. I’m disappointed that I can no longer recommend Vivino based on the poor choices of your ad implementation processes and changing features. Sad that the first review that pops up when you search the Vivino app is 2 years old because all the recent reviews are so poor. That should tell you a lot.

1/5App has become almost useless
When it first came out, this was a great app. It might not have had quite as many features as the other popular wine app, but I liked those it had and the user interface. They always did try to get you to use their store, but you could still use the useful features easily without that. Now the whole thing has become bogged down to a completely ridiculous degree with ads. You open the app, you get a full page ad that you can’t close until a timer runs down. Once you do, you no longer start in the account page where you access the features you want the app for, you go into the “home” page, which is their store. After you then click on your account page to get to the actual app, you get another full-screen app that is on a timer. Only once that’s done can you close it and finally get to the part you want, which also starts with an ad. But now there are smaller ads inserted everywhere. Go to your cellar to try to look for a wine, and every 3rd or 4th entry is an ad. And worst of all, none of these ads have anything to do with wine. They’re for things like home electrical repair or hair products. You spend more time waiting to close ads or scrolling past them than you do actually doing anything related to wine. It’s a complete waste.

2/5Great App for personal use, don’t use to buy wine!
The app itself is a great companion for wine lovers. The only issue I’ll work you about is purchasing through the application. I ordered six bottles of a 2015 Napa cab using the purchasing function in the application. You’re purchasing from a third party shop that uses the app as a method to simplify ordering, and glyph can use Apple Pay to check out. Seems convenient, right? Unfortunately what I received was another vintage of the same wine, the 2016. The profile was totally different. Contacting Vivino, they initially claimed that I selected that substitutions were permitted. Going back through the app (I invite you to do this) there is no such checkbox or option when using ApplePay. I sent them multiple screenshots of the checkout process to show there was no choice regarding “vintage substations allowed”. Vivino customer support said that the merchant had a copy of the receipt that showed substitutions were allowed and that they had to follow the merchants return policy which required i pay for shipping back and a 15% restocking fee. I mean, if your app screwed up and failed to give me the heads up about a material aspect of the purchasing process shouldn’t you have some accountability? Apparently not. So, be warned, if you buy wine, at least using Apple Pay, your vintage can be substituted without your approval and Vivino will not do anything to help you. DO NOT PURCHASE THROUGH THEM.

I’ve looked past the aggressive monetization and constant marketplace push for years because the app was useful, especially as a beginner. But now, locking the personal cellar behind a 20-bottle restriction is textbook enshittification. Instead of adding value, they are clawing back basic features users relied on for years. I am moving my tracking to an alternative that respects its user base. The only thing I will use Vivino for now is ordering a few specific bottles i can't source elsewhere.

They’re obviously too many out there for me to remember. I’m not exactly a sommelier with fancy descriptions, but I do you want to improve in my wine knowledge. That being said this week, I was playing around with the app and I discovered some changes. Mostly being that now you tell me something is a “good match” for me and when I tried it, it was disgusting.! And I wondered what happened to the percentage and then I saw that now you’re asking me for dollars and $.99 per month for an analytic. I understand the app cost money. I also understand you’re making money on ads to put this wine company’s product in front of our faces and our emails constantly. I’m not paying you five dollars a month on top of that to be a free advertising target for you to also make money on me. Five dollars a month is a Bank greedy and my girlfriend and I have been discussing and researching other wine apps because you’re not the only one out there. I nominal fee of a dollar a month is more than fair and I think I need one of us may have gladly pay that but five dollars a month is simply insulting. Just wanted to let you know.           "body": "Update to below original rating: I used to love this app but now the functionality of this app is completely useless and does not work at all. The app has been declining over the last year with pop ups and slow load times. As of the last month or two Scanning a label is now impossible!!! Sometimes I’m lucky and it just takes a solid 3 minutes to load however 98% of the time the scanned picture does not load at all. I believe they are not accommodating the free app anymore and trying to get folks to upgrade. I’ve contacted the app directly but no one has been able to help or give a solution to the problem after much back and forth. ************** I use the Vivino flavor/character scale to decide on all wines I buy. Now I know if hits on the scale the characteristics that I’m looking for then 99% of the time I will enjoy the wine without fail. I love reading about the wine and the regions too. This app has come a long way since I first downloaded it years ago... I was reintroduced to it last year and can’t live without it now.",

          "body": "Here’s my honest feedback about your app. I’ve been using it for about 6 years now. When I first started using Vivino, I loved it and would recommend it to all my wine friends and enthusiasts. Then you started putting in ads in the most annoying fashion. Your leadership and marketing team should be ashamed with your various implementation tactics. Of course, you’re going to alienate your users by taking features away and annoying them to death unless they move to the premium version. A better way would have been to entice people by the wonderful features your premium platform offers. Now I personally won’t move to your premium version just based on principle and won’t recommend your app to anyone. I just purchased a Le Cache 500 bottle wine cabinet and thought about switching to another app that I would have been happy to pay for. Instead I have adapted my usage to your free app and put up with the misguided changes you continue to make like not being able to edit the prior History notes. I don’t mind how the current ads are being done but I would never click on them to subscribe to a product via an ad. I’m disappointed that I can no longer recommend Vivino based on the poor choices of your ad implementation processes and changing features. Sad that the first review that pops up when you search the Vivino app is 2 years old because all the recent reviews are so poor. That should tell you a lot.",

          "body": "When it first came out, this was a great app. It might not have had quite as many features as the other popular wine app, but I liked those it had and the user interface. They always did try to get you to use their store, but you could still use the useful features easily without that. Now the whole thing has become bogged down to a completely ridiculous degree with ads. You open the app, you get a full page ad that you can’t close until a timer runs down. Once you do, you no longer start in the account page where you access the features you want the app for, you go into the “home” page, which is their store. After you then click on your account page to get to the actual app, you get another full-screen app that is on a timer. Only once that’s done can you close it and finally get to the part you want, which also starts with an ad. But now there are smaller ads inserted everywhere. Go to your cellar to try to look for a wine, and every 3rd or 4th entry is an ad. And worst of all, none of these ads have anything to do with wine. They’re for things like home electrical repair or hair products. You spend more time waiting to close ads or scrolling past them than you do actually doing anything related to wine. It’s a complete waste.",

          "title": "Great App for personal use, don’t use to buy wine!",
          "body": "The app itself is a great companion for wine lovers. The only issue I’ll work you about is purchasing through the application. I ordered six bottles of a 2015 Napa cab using the purchasing function in the application. You’re purchasing from a third party shop that uses the app as a method to simplify ordering, and glyph can use Apple Pay to check out. Seems convenient, right? Unfortunately what I received was another vintage of the same wine, the 2016. The profile was totally different. Contacting Vivino, they initially claimed that I selected that substitutions were permitted. Going back through the app (I invite you to do this) there is no such checkbox or option when using ApplePay. I sent them multiple screenshots of the checkout process to show there was no choice regarding “vintage substations allowed”. Vivino customer support said that the merchant had a copy of the receipt that showed substitutions were allowed and that they had to follow the merchants return policy which required i pay for shipping back and a 15% restocking fee. I mean, if your app screwed up and failed to give me the heads up about a material aspect of the purchasing process shouldn’t you have some accountability? Apparently not. So, be warned, if you buy wine, at least using Apple Pay, your vintage can be substituted without your approval and Vivino will not do anything to help you. DO NOT PURCHASE THROUGH THEM.",
