1. 2/5Great supplements, sub-par app

   First of all, my own experience with Viome supplements has been great. I’ve noticed improvements in my overall health and wellness that’s lead to better sleep, fewer sick days and generally more energy. Despite these improvements, it's disheartening to report that Voime's core offering is marred by technical issues that severely compromise its usability. Over the last couple of years, the app's performance has been plagued with problems that make routine tasks frustratingly cumbersome. A significant update to the client-side database, intended to enhance the food recommendation feature, instead introduced intolerable lag. Searching for anything within the app became a test of patience, with 10 seconds (or more) of waiting time rendering the app nearly unusable in real-time scenarios, like grocery shopping or dining out. Authentication instability adds another layer of inconvenience, with frequent, random sign-outs and error-laden sign-in attempts. Such issues necessitate hard closes and multiple attempts to access one's own data, a basic expectation from any app, let alone one that houses personal health information. The app's tendency to freeze or behave unexpectedly during crucial interactions forces users into unnecessary troubleshooting, detracting further from the user experience. For example, the questionnaire would not load in app after registering a test kit despite restarting / logging in & out / etc. These persistent technical shortcomings have led to a gradual, yet significant, reduction in my engagement with the app. What was once a daily companion in my health journey has become a source of frustration, leaving me to question the viability of continuing my subscription.

2. 1/5Brilliant marketing, poor data and results

   I was very excited to try Viome for the first time. They really have done an excellent job marketing the benefits of this product and I was very excited to see my personalized results and data from all of the information that they take from you. Unfortunately, this app and product is nothing short of a scam in my mind for the billionaire founder to reap the benefits off of everyone’s subscriptions. They push like crazy to get you to sign up for all of their proprietary subscriptions post results and use all kinds of technical sounding jargon to convince you to just trust them. The whole 3-4 week period that you wait for your results for their specialized “AI” model to gather your results is just more time that they take to sell you on your products. If this company took a quarter of the time that they put into marketing into helping their customers understand their data and scores better this would actually be a pretty solid product to use. However all of the results you get back are very high level that they could have likely given you from the very lengthy survey you had to fill out. They don’t even give you any useful standardized data that I was expecting to get from the blood sample you give them. Their final results are riddled with contradictions or at least mine was. Their food recommendations tend to be good recommendations for people to eat in general so at least if people follow that then there would be benefits for some people. I thought the coolest part of the test was the results that showed what type of bacteria that live in your gut. However they have no intention of helping you understand those results OR help you build a whole foods approach to achieving the desired microbes in your gut. Rather they just push you to buy their pre and probiotic supplements. Overall, not a product I would recommend specially when considering the time and cost this takes. Cool concept and hoping someone can build upon this to make it much better for the future.

3. 2/5This app is an incompetent abomination

   The questionnaire to prepare for submission of a test kit consists of hundreds of questions. At the end there is no finish button. But there is a back button. The back button throws you back to a random place in the questionnaire, with no other way to get to the end than to tap next on wach question. The results are presented needlessly opaque. Each food is good or bad for a reason, but there are not as many different reasons as there are foods, yet there is no display of just all the foods to be avoided ir preferred for any given reason. Each food is presented on its own only, with the coherency willfully withheld. Also I tried to buy an item from the Shop tab of the app (the cancer detect test). This opens a web page in a browser. The page does not work, it goes in a loop through an eligibilty and login dialog. When I reported this to viome, the recommeendation was to try it on a laptop, ie to not use this app here.

4. 1/5App is useless. AI generated “insights” aka AI slop, and it’s a ploy to sell you supplements.

   This is a scam. They don’t give you your test results, and then recommend supplements that they sell to “fix” you. Also, they recommended food to me that I was allergic to (with blood tests from my doctor to prove it!). When I contacted customer service, they told me that I should have “reported it to them” in the onboarding quiz so they wouldn’t recommend food I was allergic to…which shows their tests are inaccurate. They don’t provide you any of the raw data from your tests, nor show you their analysis, despite my asking multiple times. On top of that, what you get in your dashboard is a bunch of AI generated insights, lists of foods, and supplements to buy for them to “fix” all your issues. How convenient that they sell the supplements for problems they diagnose you with, but don’t show you any results of your tests….DO NOT BUY VIOME, this is a total scam and you are better off using something like Function Health that gives you your results, or going to your doctor! Beware!

5. 5/5Viome changed my life!

   I’ve been super careful to eat nutritiously since I was 15 years old. I’m now 67 years old. I figured out a lot of things over the years, but I couldn’t resolve certain mysteries. When I received my Viome recommendations, I saw that some of my favorite foods, that I was eating often, were in the avoid list! In a million years, I would never have guessed that those particular foods would be causing me problems! When I removed them, I had enormous improvement! I have been eating my super foods and avoiding my avoid foods and I am doing much better than before. Viome is cutting edge and I am so grateful to you for the work that you are doing, understanding that we are each totally unique and need to learn which foods reduce or cause inflammation in our body in particular. I will always be grateful to Viome! Susan Ratner
