   Yes it’s great feeling to follow the app back to a freaking Human. Technology has done way over played itself. When I call customer service with a grievance I feel much comfort with a human helping me. Because from a human and only a human will my grievance be properly addressed. Addressed by the “Human Element“. For, only from another actual human being will you experience the appropriate response. The Human element is so embedded in our being that we can NOT escape that component of ourselves known as the humaneness Beyond genetic it’s within each of our identities far more interpersonal than your DNA. Is humanity. There is no programming that would give an AI humaneness. Nope, not going to happen. AI is noting but a program. Sure, artificial intelligence can think outside of the program, that is what it is. Still it is AI; not HUMAN to be able to conceive humanity.

2. 1/5This iOS app presents videos incorrectly, and ruins the filmmakers’ intent.

   I absolutely despise this Vimeo iOS app. Instead of showing black pixels outside the aspect ratio of a video (like any normal video player), this Vimeo app plays a blurry version of films in the unused pixels. In other words, if I made a movie that has a 16:9 aspect ratio, then the extra pixels on the sides of my phone will play a blurry version of my film instead of just showing black pixels. Or if my movie is in 2.39:1, then it will show a blurry version of the movie on the top and bottom. Basically, any video that you play that isn’t the exact aspect ratio of your phone’s screen will be displayed incorrectly. Guys, this is a BIG problem! You’re completely altering the presentation of my work without my consent! I don’t want a blurry version of my film to be playing behind my movie. It’s super distracting and it looks terrible. Any pixels outside of the aspect ratio of my movie should just be BLACK PIXELS. You have no right to change the artistic intent of my movie. Also: WHY ON EARTH is the default setting to play a movie with subtitles??? That should NOT be the default setting. Subtitles should only be enabled if a user decides to SELECT them. I swear, whoever designed this app has deliberately gone out of their way to compromise the presentation of filmmakers’ work. It’s inappropriate. I hate this app now.

3. 1/5Do NOT TRUST THIS SITE

   I don’t know where to begin with how bad this platform is. After using their platform for 4 years and uploading hundreds and hundreds of videos to my Patreon account, they one day (with not a single warning or a single strike on my account) deleted every single one of my videos. Patreon was my livelihood and I depend on it to pay my mortgage etc. I suddenly had a Patreon site that went from having around 1,500 videos to zero overnight. They stole 4 years of my hard work that I can never get back. They also personally reached out to days before deleting my account and convinced me to pay for a year long subscription to their platform at the highest pay level, then deleted my account with zero refund. This is minor compared to the thousands of dollars I’m going to lose this month because I made the HUGE MISTAKE of trusting this site. It should also be noted that even when paying the maximum amount for security my videos were still downloaded and shared on other platforms. They offer zero security and zero respect of content. If you value your content I urge you to look elsewhere. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLATFORM

4. 1/5Platform littered with Bugs

   I placed a pre-order for a Video On Demand from a creator and was sent an email confirmation. When the time came for the release of the product, my preorder did not go through. When I inquired via their support, they first told me that the creator canceled my pre-order. When I contacted the creator and they told me they didn’t, I inquired further with Vimeo further. Their support then told me that they had a bug in their system that canceled my pre-order accidentally. When I inquired if I could still get the title at the discounted price, I was told I couldn’t because they they don’t control that. I eventually got escalated up to a higher support their because they knew that their system messed up. From there, Charles H and other members of their support team gave it a “is what it is” attitude and where little to no help. Simple question such as, why did I not get an email that my pre-order was canceled could not even be answered. All they could do was say, I’m sorry, our system messed up, and you need to pay a much higher price for a title you pre-ordered.

5. 3/5Not sure about this app

   First of all, for many years I have appreciated and respected Vimeo a lot. I have found and watched many excellent, entertaining and informative videos on their platform. I signed up for a paid account, and very much want to like this app. But… the single biggest problem is that my uploads keep resetting. They get to 10% or 20% and then start over. I am attempting to upload just one video at a time, and I have tried both with and without Wi-Fi, etc. Have not experienced this on other apps even with larger uploads than these files. If this persists I may well regret this. :-( Secondarily, the user experience is subjective and what I like another person may not and so on. With that said I agree with other reviewers who express frustration with the navigation and the workflow around posting and changing settings on their videos. In the upload workflow some of the control conventions are unclear to me - is an “x” going to close the view of the details of my upload, or is it going to cancel the upload? I hope the upload issues can be resolved, and hopefully someone from Vimeo who can make a difference on this app will read these reviews and take action to make it better. Thanks!
