i rarely ever write reviews. like ever. but tbh viki is so helpful. when it comes to watching a drama, and you want to know if youd like it or not, the descriptions are so much more helpful than “Two Girls. Trapped in a room. Can they escape?” or something like that. They actually explain stuff. And if thats not enough for you, there are discussions/reviews on the show! AND theres also a spoiler warning feature where if the review/discussion has a spoiler it will block the entire discussion and say “this comment has a spoiler in it” or something like that and gives you the chance to ignore the spoiler warning or not! and theres also a live chat while watching the show so if youre someone that NEEDS to discuss how you feel during a show thats perfect for you! if its too distracting though, you can always turn it off. theres also a learn mode, and it shows you the captions in the language youre watching in AND in the language of your choice. you can tap on characters/words and it would give you the definition. my only complaint about that is, its slightly too big and distracts a bit from the show. but its fine bc thats not why i bought viki anyway !! ALSO THE BEST PART:: MOST OF IT IS FREEEEE some shows are locked (you need the standard pass or the plus pass) but a lot of shows are free, NO CHARGE, NO ADS, NOTHING!! IN LOVE WITH VIKI !!!!! i promise you wont be disappointed if you get it 💪

My wife fell in love with Asian dramas after teasing me about it, initially catching me watching “Cinderella & The 4 Knights,” thinking that was amusing - but a bit bothered when I then watched “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon,” “Vagabond” before joining me to see “While You Were Sleeping”! She became so hooked on them after watching “Run-On” & “Start-Up,” that I lost control of the TV remote! And then she sheepishly admitted to buying herself a birthday gift: a subscription to VIKI / Rakuten over a year ago! We have watched Asian dramas on NTFLX, Prime, Yahoo, Roku, iQIYI, and others but the format of VIKI is far superior than all the rest! If I had a negative comment it might be that I can’t create a separate menu for shows she watches vs. those that I’m watching. For “Moonlight,” recently, I began to watch it on Prime so I didn’t throw her off from her progress through the 36 episodes. However, I despise commercials I didn’t have to endure on Prime previously but we rarely watch it now since extortion rates began to be applied to existing users. SEARCH, Continue Watching, Watch List, used all the time. Seeking new shows to watch, the summaries are great, listing actors & previous works great, providing other menu choices for Reviews as well as Trailers & Teasers, VIKI has built a solid product that is unrivaled in the industry: occasionally my wife supplements searches by going to mydramalist dot com, but I don’t ever feel the need to. Thank you for this platform you have built, we appreciate it.

4/5ALMOST PERFECT! One subtitle problem...
I love this app! First off, I LOVE that you can try out the app without committing even to a trial, by just watching some commercials. I watched two seasons of a show, completely free, before even starting my free premium trial. So great! I love the comments (although to make it even better, would be cool if they were live comments, like watching it together, rather than just time stamped with the show), I love that I can watch these shows with Spanish subtitles, and I love the shows that are available! I’m not a big tv watcher so I’ve never subscribed to any streaming service before because I could never see myself using it enough to justify the cost. I can definitely see myself using this enough to justify premium! One note though on the premium version: premium allows iPhone users to cast to a chrome cast, which is great because that’s what I have in my bedroom. However, when I cast the subtitles are white with no background like on the app or on the Apple TV, so at times they’re very hard to read. And I would also like the option to show or not show comments when casting as well, because sometimes I like to read them while I’m watching because they can be funny. But the comments is more of a suggestion, whereas I think the subtitles issue is a legitimate need for improvement in terms of accessibility with this app. Otherwise, this is a great app and I highly recommend giving it a go.

4/5Great Platform with a Little Room for Improvement
I started with the free trial and quickly got hooked. The library on Viki is massive—I know I will never run out of programs to watch. I opted for the standard subscription below the plus sub, and honestly, I’m quite quite satisfied. It offers a lot without feeling restrictive. Also, I was hesitant about the crowd-sourced subtitle translations, but the quality is very good. Overall, the app interface is very seamless—easy to find shows, add them to my watchlist, find recs, use filters, etc. However, there are a couple features Viki could benefit from: -Option to Turn Off Parental Controls. Every time I want to watch content that is rated R or above a pin is required. It’s annoying and there is no way to turn it off. -Font Change for Subtitles. [Edit: Viki does have various fonts for subtitles] -Better Return to Last Part Played. It seems that sometimes when I resume a series it plays from an earlier part in the series not where I last left off. I can understand having this issue if I’m casting to Chromecast since other streams have that bug, but I experience this problem across platforms including the TV app. I’m still enjoying Viki, but a few much-needed improvements would make the experience perfect and fully on par with other top streaming services, like Netflix and Prime Video.

2/5Ads are too long!
I really enjoy watching dramas and movies on this app and I don’t mind watching some ads while watching my dramas but there is one ad in specific that is for a synthroid medication and it’s exactly a minute long. Now I don’t mind watching a minute long ad once or twice during one episode but this ad literally comes up every single time there is an ad break and some times they even play it two or three times in a row and it’s getting really annoying. Sometimes I get so annoyed by it that I literally just stop watching the episode and don’t get back to it for a few days. Now like I said I don’t mind watching ads during an episode, especially since I’m not paying anything to do so, but can you guys please do something to make sure that the synthroid ad only shows up once or twice (no more that two) per episode or if it’s going to come up more than twice then can you please ad a skip ad button on it so we can have the option to skip it after a few seconds. I don’t understand how you guys have a skip ad button on some ads that are only a few seconds long but not on the synthroid ad that is literally a whole freaking minute long and then sometimes play that same ad three times in a row. Please look into this because I’m literally getting to the point where I’m getting very displeased with this app and I’m really thinking of deleting it and getting another one. Hope you guys will listen to my genuine complaint and do something about it.

The app still has great content. Unfortunately these are the issues I've encountered within the last year: losing access to shows because licenses expired; Roku app not allowing me to watch shows even though I have a premium pass; the Android tablet app not playing shows unless you log out and back in or uninstall then reinstall. So just a poor user experience overall, which is why I don't plan to renew my subscription. I want to but I think I'll feel silly paying them with all of these issues.

prices went up and they teased you with a few episodes but you will have to pay to see the rest. yes some are free but most of those free ones are boring, but the ready good ones are locked up. and if you are on an extremely tight budget. It is not worth it. if you don't tell them, your private information, it will get sold, and those who play the game of deception by deceiving and being deceitful will loose their customers

Not recommended 😭 Sobrang daming ads at paulit-ulit pa. Hindi ka pa nakakapag-umpisa manood, may ads na agad. Yes, libre siya, pero hindi katulad ng ibang apps na kaunti lang ang ads. Parang mas marami pa ngang ads kaysa sa mismong mapapanood mo 😭 Pati ibang users, reklamo rin nila na mahaba at sunod-sunod ang ads kaya nakakaistorbo sa panonood.

          "body": "i rarely ever write reviews. like ever. but tbh viki is so helpful. when it comes to watching a drama, and you want to know if youd like it or not, the descriptions are so much more helpful than “Two Girls. Trapped in a room. Can they escape?” or something like that. They actually explain stuff. And if thats not enough for you, there are discussions/reviews on the show! AND theres also a spoiler warning feature where if the review/discussion has a spoiler it will block the entire discussion and say “this comment has a spoiler in it” or something like that and gives you the chance to ignore the spoiler warning or not! and theres also a live chat while watching the show so if youre someone that NEEDS to discuss how you feel during a show thats perfect for you! if its too distracting though, you can always turn it off. theres also a learn mode, and it shows you the captions in the language youre watching in AND in the language of your choice. you can tap on characters/words and it would give you the definition. my only complaint about that is, its slightly too big and distracts a bit from the show. but its fine bc thats not why i bought viki anyway !! ALSO THE BEST PART:: MOST OF IT IS FREEEEE some shows are locked (you need the standard pass or the plus pass) but a lot of shows are free, NO CHARGE, NO ADS, NOTHING!! IN LOVE WITH VIKI !!!!! i promise you wont be disappointed if you get it 💪",

          "body": "My wife fell in love with Asian dramas after teasing me about it, initially catching me watching “Cinderella & The 4 Knights,” thinking that was amusing - but a bit bothered when I then watched “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon,” “Vagabond” before joining me to see “While You Were Sleeping”! She became so hooked on them after watching “Run-On” & “Start-Up,” that I lost control of the TV remote! And then she sheepishly admitted to buying herself a birthday gift: a subscription to VIKI / Rakuten over a year ago! We have watched Asian dramas on NTFLX, Prime, Yahoo, Roku, iQIYI, and others but the format of VIKI is far superior than all the rest! If I had a negative comment it might be that I can’t create a separate menu for shows she watches vs. those that I’m watching. For “Moonlight,” recently, I began to watch it on Prime so I didn’t throw her off from her progress through the 36 episodes. However, I despise commercials I didn’t have to endure on Prime previously but we rarely watch it now since extortion rates began to be applied to existing users. SEARCH, Continue Watching, Watch List, used all the time. Seeking new shows to watch, the summaries are great, listing actors & previous works great, providing other menu choices for Reviews as well as Trailers & Teasers, VIKI has built a solid product that is unrivaled in the industry: occasionally my wife supplements searches by going to mydramalist dot com, but I don’t ever feel the need to. Thank you for this platform you have built, we appreciate it.",

          "title": "ALMOST PERFECT! One subtitle problem...",
          "body": "I love this app! First off, I LOVE that you can try out the app without committing even to a trial, by just watching some commercials. I watched two seasons of a show, completely free, before even starting my free premium trial. So great! I love the comments (although to make it even better, would be cool if they were live comments, like watching it together, rather than just time stamped with the show), I love that I can watch these shows with Spanish subtitles, and I love the shows that are available! I’m not a big tv watcher so I’ve never subscribed to any streaming service before because I could never see myself using it enough to justify the cost. I can definitely see myself using this enough to justify premium! One note though on the premium version: premium allows iPhone users to cast to a chrome cast, which is great because that’s what I have in my bedroom. However, when I cast the subtitles are white with no background like on the app or on the Apple TV, so at times they’re very hard to read. And I would also like the option to show or not show comments when casting as well, because sometimes I like to read them while I’m watching because they can be funny. But the comments is more of a suggestion, whereas I think the subtitles issue is a legitimate need for improvement in terms of accessibility with this app. Otherwise, this is a great app and I highly recommend giving it a go.",

          "title": "Great Platform with a Little Room for Improvement",
          "body": "I started with the free trial and quickly got hooked. The library on Viki is massive—I know I will never run out of programs to watch. I opted for the standard subscription below the plus sub, and honestly, I’m quite quite satisfied. It offers a lot without feeling restrictive. Also, I was hesitant about the crowd-sourced subtitle translations, but the quality is very good. Overall, the app interface is very seamless—easy to find shows, add them to my watchlist, find recs, use filters, etc. However, there are a couple features Viki could benefit from: -Option to Turn Off Parental Controls. Every time I want to watch content that is rated R or above a pin is required. It’s annoying and there is no way to turn it off. -Font Change for Subtitles. [Edit: Viki does have various fonts for subtitles] -Better Return to Last Part Played. It seems that sometimes when I resume a series it plays from an earlier part in the series not where I last left off. I can understand having this issue if I’m casting to Chromecast since other streams have that bug, but I experience this problem across platforms including the TV app. I’m still enjoying Viki, but a few much-needed improvements would make the experience perfect and fully on par with other top streaming services, like Netflix and Prime Video.",

          "body": "I really enjoy watching dramas and movies on this app and I don’t mind watching some ads while watching my dramas but there is one ad in specific that is for a synthroid medication and it’s exactly a minute long. Now I don’t mind watching a minute long ad once or twice during one episode but this ad literally comes up every single time there is an ad break and some times they even play it two or three times in a row and it’s getting really annoying. Sometimes I get so annoyed by it that I literally just stop watching the episode and don’t get back to it for a few days. Now like I said I don’t mind watching ads during an episode, especially since I’m not paying anything to do so, but can you guys please do something to make sure that the synthroid ad only shows up once or twice (no more that two) per episode or if it’s going to come up more than twice then can you please ad a skip ad button on it so we can have the option to skip it after a few seconds. I don’t understand how you guys have a skip ad button on some ads that are only a few seconds long but not on the synthroid ad that is literally a whole freaking minute long and then sometimes play that same ad three times in a row. Please look into this because I’m literally getting to the point where I’m getting very displeased with this app and I’m really thinking of deleting it and getting another one. Hope you guys will listen to my genuine complaint and do something about it.",

Unfortunately these are the issues I've encountered within the last year: losing access to shows because licenses expired; Roku app not allowing me to watch shows even though I have a premium pass; the Android tablet app not playing shows unless you log out and back in or uninstall then reinstall. So just a poor user experience overall, which is why I don't plan to renew my subscription. I want to but I think I'll feel silly paying them with all of these issues.",
