  1. 5/5Return to Former Glory

*Updated December 2022* Version 3.0 is the SNES version of the original app, in that it makes everything better. This update is a total overhaul by the original developer, restoring the former glory of Ultimate NES, while adding a plethora of new features that actually work. Syncing cloud accounts, smooth scrolling, 3D box art in Super FX-chip fashion, new filter options, retro magazine ads, plus more features will be added in the future. Thank you for making it fun again! Update it, reinstall, get it - it’s back! *Jan 2019* Since an update last November, released on Black Friday no less, all entries of games, manuals, etc., were deleted in an auto update pushed in the name of cloud syncing. Months later, this app is still unusable, after re-entering my collection and then losing almost all new entries again. If there’s a silver lining, I’ve saved money from no longer collecting NES games regularly, due to the time it’ll take to catalog 400+ entries yet again in another application with a far less appealing interface. I’ve submitted a lot of specific feedback directly to the current developer, who is receptive, and has made improvements, but not enough for this app to function for me. Not syncing/adding items leaves this broken, scrolling still feels off, and how the layout was reworked to fit different size displays is glitched on an iPhone 8. Yes, I’ve deleted the app multiple times and even reinstalled iOS. I would love to change this to a positive review, this used to be my favorite iOS app. Daily, for months, I checked to see if an SNES version was coming. Now I just want the old version of this app back.

  2. 5/5A Nintendo collector's best friend

In spite of already having the book written by Pat Contri that contains most of this info, I found that the unique feature with which you can keep track of your own NES collection worth the price in itself. This is one of the best resources you can have on hand if you collect, thanks to all of the detail that went into compiling this app and its hardcover book counterpart - from label variations and region exclusive games, to info on some of the more rare and obscure cartridges (even non-licensed ones). If you are new to the hobby - or are a seasoned game collector - this app is definitely a definitive guide on everything you could ever want to know about the NES library.

  3. 5/5Best design

I’ve been trying several of the game collection apps to get a listing together of all my retro games. The layout, design, and options of this app are the best of all the ones I’ve tried. It was worth the price to unlock both libraries. My only complaint isn’t really a complaint, more a personal wish. This app would reach perfection if it had the other retro systems as well. Even if it was only the images of cases and cartridges I would be stoked, the extra features could be added over time. My prayer is that this app in time will grow to include the other systems from Atari, Sega, and Nintendo.

  4. 5/5Great reference material

I love browsing through the boxes and seeing the old ads and viewing the 3D box model. It would be nice to add things like Nintendo power articles or other magazine coverage but I suppose that would have copyright problems. Also I wish we could tap on the game photos and ads and get a higher resolution version. The games all do have original text reviews at least! Adding SNES is fantastic and I hope they continue to add more systems in the future!

  5. 5/5Went from great to unusable to buggy

This app was truly amazing when it launched. Then an update happened which rendered the app completely unusable. They’ve since patched it and while it works, it’s a buggy mess. Scrolling is choppy, games sorted alphabetically are out of place and sometimes while searching the results are jumbled into one. There’s a lot of potential with this app. I saw it with its first iteration. No idea why they tried to fix what wasn’t broken.
