  1. 4/5Good tuner, too many ads

I’ve used this tuner for years. I’m a music teacher. I tune hundreds of instruments, especially before concerts with this app. For those that don’t understand transposing instruments, you have to know the difference between concert pitch (piano) and your instrument, if it isn’t a C instrument. I didn’t give it 5stars because of the recent onslaught of ads, not just one but several in a row. Could I pay for it? Sure, but I could also find another free app and compare to see if I should just move on.

  2. 2/5Don't use this app if you have an instrument connected to orchestra

I was recently looking for an app I could use to tune my viola strings correctly and this app didn't work all too well with that. The only string that was properly in tune was my A string, all the other strings were way too low (according to this app). Once I got to my C string the app wasn't even correctly picking up on the tunes and was saying it was too low when the string was too high in tune, this is very bad because I do not have anymore spare C strings currently, and if I ended up breaking my C string I would have had to spend money for a new string just because the app for some reason could not pick up on the sound of the C string. I know the app heard me playing because I was playing loud enough for it to pick up. I will not be using this app again because of the risk of me almost snapping my C string. If anyone uses apps to try and tune their instruments, I recommend using tuner ninja, its a website on google I believe (and its free to use, no payments) and it tunes stringed instruments very well. Im not sure about other types of instruments since the only instrument I play is a viola, but I can say that it works very well for tuning strings.

  3. 2/5Step in the right direction

[Updated review at bottom] I understand needing to monetize the app, but the amount of ads, and, in particular, the shady ads that are hard to exit out of, and keep sending you to the App Store page of whatever app is being advertised, is just over-the-top. Surely one of these full-length ads at the start of a session, and maybe one more a few minutes in would be more than enough. It’s frustrating and a pain. And, no, the solution isn’t “upgrade to the pro version”. It’s not possible for some of us, and it’s just a shame how difficult it’s become to use this app. [Updated section below] After posting this review, while still on the app’s page, I noticed an update was available. I updated, and thankfully there are fewer ads now. It’s a step in the right direction. However, I still think it’s wrong for these full screen ads to do shady things, like have an “x” appear in the corner at the end of the video portion, and when you tap it, you’re still sent to the advertised app, because it’s a fake exit icon, then after a few moments, the real exit icon appears. I realize that it’s the advertiser doing that, not this app developer, but from a user’s perspective, that doesn’t make it less annoying or shady. [newer update] took back one star, because ads are increasing again (not a huge increase, but at least 25%-30% more) and more importantly, they are those shady ads that are very hard to click out of. Way too long before they allow you out, and trick the user into clicking a fake “x” which links to the App Store. I’m done with this nonsense

  4. 3/5WHY ?!?!?? 🙄

The foundation of the app is great. Everything seems to be simple but when i tuned my Bb Clarinet none of the notes matched. I thought it was my jacky reed yall so i opened a new reed still the notes didnt match up. Finally it hit me to go to the piano and boom EVERY SINGLE NOTE WAS GREEN . When i played on my clarinet it was giving me notes that didnt even makes sense like for example i played a Eb and it told me it was a C 🤨 so i thought to myself maybe this is in the settings of an instrument not in my range then had the idea to look through settings . I changed some stuff and changed it back and changed it again nothing happened just same ole’ same ole’ so i gave up 🤣 . If ya really wanna use this app dont use it for other instruments use it for pianos 😂. Or maybe im doing something wrong 🤷🏾‍♀️ but man that whole thing makes me wanna skip my practice time for today LOL.

  5. 5/5Best tuner for classical wind players

I am a bassoonist in one of the top 5 US orchestras. The latest version of this app is my favorite tuner. (I’ve tried many.) Much easier to read with continuous display disabled (set with a toggle in the settings). The graphic line gives an excellent representation of your general pitch, the general stability of your tone, and you quickly learn what a preferred vibrato looks like, too. When trying alternate fingerings, it is much easier to see the real general pitch of a fingering compared to another fingering than any other type of display I’ve seen (Korg-like needles etc.). There were some adjustments made over previous versions, and it now picks up very well the full range of the bassoon (many tuners get confused in the low notes).

Introducing Transpose Mode! Tuner T1 now lets you transpose your tuner’s note display instantly - perfect for guitarists using capos, wind players using transposing instruments, or anyone who needs to shift pitch notation on the fly. Here’s what’s new: • Transpose Control: A sleek new pill appears on the tuner screen. Tap it to choose how you want to transpose your display. • Multiple Modes: • Semitone Shift - Adjust notes up or down in ½-step increments (−12 to +12). • Capo Mode - Instantly show note names relative to your capo position (0-12 frets). • Instrument Mode - Display written pitch for transposing instruments like Bb Trumpet, Eb Alto Sax, F Horn, and more. • Quick Access Menu: Long-press the transpose pill to quickly bump up or down by a semitone, or reset to concert pitch in one tap. • Smart Display: Transposition affects only the note names you see - the tuner’s detection remains accurate to concert pitch, so you can practice or perform without confusion. If you enjoy Tuner T1, please take a moment to rate it 5 stars on the App Store! Your support helps more musicians discover the app and keeps the music going strong.
