    TROP is, without a doubt, the best TAK app available for iOS, and arguably better than ATAK itself. Boasting an intuitive and easy to navigate UI, sending and creating data for your team is easy and fast. Customizable options means you can make it perfect for you! Meshtastic support with in-app plug and play style setup for your device is fantastic! Plus, Meshtastic use within the app is reliable too. Offline use is fantastic as well. Map downloads can occur in the app or be imported via common formats such as jpeg, kml, and geoPDF. AI features for personnel detection are pretty cool and have good potential. Like all AI it will make mistakes but all in all this is pretty accurate! I’ve deleted iTAK and TAK Aware. I will not download them again. This app has set the new standard for iOS TAK users. I can’t recommend this enough!

    This is one of the most important updates since we started moving away from MapLibre. TROP is now running on our own engine-backed tactical map — built around a native 3D globe, terrain, offline packs, tactical markers, routes, shapes, measurements, GeoPDF support and Cesium-based rendering. We are also releasing a free public TROP server for up to 3 users, now built directly into onboarding. The goal is simple: let small teams quickly connect, test shared situational awareness and see what TROP can do when paired with the TROP server stack. What this unlocks: • A real 3D tactical map foundation — terrain, raster overlays, 3D Tiles, GeoPDF layers and tactical objects rendered through the new engine. • Easy server onboarding — connect up to 3 users to the free public server and experience live team coordination without deploying your own backend. • Stronger offline operations — bundled terrain/imagery fallback, better cache persistence and fixes for offline tile saturation. • Engine-native workflows — selection, lasso, measurement, route editing, shape creation and long-press radial menus now work directly on the new map path. • More reliable routes and waypoints — navigation is visible during planning and calculation, with draggable waypoints and live distance updates. • Cleaner tactical rendering — improved marker visibility, terrain occlusion, label stability and fewer ghost/vanishing marker issues. • Better Cesium scene stability — memory-pressure handling, tile throttling, stale overlay fixes and smoother LOD transitions.

    Battery and data usage have been reduced by putting background sensors to sleep and reducing the frequency of data downloads. A feature has been added to place a marker at the user’s current location. App crashes during startup and while editing routes have been fixed. The map settings menu has been reorganized, and duplicate options have been removed. A global elevation source that works anywhere in the world has been added. A direction indicator for objects and the ability to resize icons and labels have been introduced. A bug causing drawn lines, zones, and crosshairs to sink below the map surface has been fixed. Resolved an issue with the map getting stuck at high zoom levels and camera jerkiness in the Western Hemisphere. Removed white margins and black borders from imported GeoPDF maps. Fixed a bug causing offline maps to disappear when zooming in. Improved the edges of downloaded areas and fixed an issue with inverted map tiles.

    Added customization for the radial menu, which automatically adjusts to the selected item. Added control buttons to the live stream indicator and made it a permanent fixture in the menu. Fixed a bug where the corners of a shape remained visible on the map after it was deleted. Map centering has been improved so that selected points no longer hide behind menu panels. The display of range indicators and video activity has been restored when receiving streams from others. Shape drawing has been improved with an instant preview of points and dynamic border color changes. Fixed the movement of the reference point (Bullseye) on the map and added a preview of its position. Points from automatic image analysis are now automatically assigned to the active mission. Instant synchronization of edited shapes across all mission participants has been implemented. Leaving a mission correctly removes its shapes from the map, and rejoining immediately restores them. The behavior of the back button on the "About the App" screen has been fixed.

    The QR code login feature has been expanded to automatically support and recognize formats from the external iTAK and ATAK systems. An accuracy issue with manual coordinate entry has been fixed, so points are now placed on the map with full precision, without random shifts. Fixed a real-time synchronization error, ensuring that any modifications and edits to existing shapes on the map are immediately visible to all mission participants. Organized the function selection list in the radial menu by dividing it into clear sections containing, in order, the assigned action, other available options, and items already used.

Enhanced the radial menu by adding a move option for markers and ensuring proper recognition of geometric shapes. Implemented a new, dedicated shape editor featuring advanced vertex management, a locked action menu, and expanded undo functionality. Fixed an interface layout bug where the on-screen keyboard completely covered the radius input field. Fixed the delete button located directly within the object details panel to ensure proper asset removal. Fixed editing logic so that opening a saved route launches the dedicated route editor instead of the generic shape panel. Streamlined mission chats by automating membership management and fixing incorrect timestamps and unread badges for historical messages. Fixed a bug in the route editor where attempting to relocate an existing waypoint incorrectly appended a new one instead.
