1. 3/5Apple Pay stopped working after latest update

   I have been using the Trenitalia app successfully since June 2022 and have always found it to be an excellent app. Approximately one weeks ago, immediately following the most recent update, Apple Pay stopped working for me. I performed extensive testing: • Deleted and reinstalled the app • Restarted the iPhone • Changed my password • Updated my profile • Tried while logged in • Tried as a guest user • Tried through the mobile website In every case, Apple Pay launches normally and authentication succeeds, but the purchase does not complete. Initially, manual Visa card entry appeared to work as a workaround. However, on a later purchase attempt, the Visa payment also failed and the application displayed the internal error message “label_payment_failed_title.” The issue therefore appears to affect more than just Apple Pay. Because the problem began at the same time as the most recent update, I suspect there may be an issue with the payment system introduced in the latest release. I am posting this review in the hope that the issue can be investigated, because until last week the app worked perfectly for me.

2. 1/5Please Fix this App

   I used this App and can’t believe Trenitalia hasn’t fixed important ticket purchasing issues. I used the app to buy tickets for a certain date. The Journeys section shows my departure date 1 day before the actual travel date (that is a glitch/mistake). My ticket is correct and the website has the correct Journey date and correct ticket travel date. Plus, I received a confirmation email with the tickets ( correct dates). My third booking had more errors that scared me. The website showed the correct Journey date matching the ticket date and I received the email confirming the date. The mobile app had the wrong Journey date ( 1 day early again) but this time the ticket on the app HAS THE WRONG TRAVEL DATE! Now I can not use this electronic ticket on my mobile phone because it has the wrong date ( ticket is 1 day earlier). I live in the USA so I did a mobile chat to verify my PRN was for the correct date, and it was. Your App is causing confusion and will cause your company headaches and complaints from your customers. The App is not synchronizing correctly with website. Please fix this problem or tell customers to use the website. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

3. 2/5Good Feature Set, but Unreliable

   The overall feature set is great, however, the app is fairly unreliable for the fundamental needs. Checking a train status will often hang before giving an ambiguous error message indicating to try again. Buying a ticket is best done in the website as searching for routes never completes. The app will spin for minutes on end after entering the start / end locations and the time without any indication of progress. Going through the website in the same connection completes almost instantly, so it’s surely an app problem rather than a connection issue. Journeys bought in the website “sometimes” synchronize with the app. I bought two in the last 2 days. One synchronized, the other did not. After manually trying to import the journey I saw the same ambiguous error message. As an engineering leader myself this smells a lot like an external dev team was tasked with the app without proper QA or accountability to the reliability of the feature set. The app is not ready to be used stand alone and the team should focus on the fundamental features, QA, and reliability.

4. 5/5This app is fantastic.

   I’ve been traveling in Italy for over a month. Nearly 30 journeys booked and taken, no issues. Those with the date problem, it’s the settings on your phone not the app. It’s telling you what time the train leaves in your home time zone you can fix that in settings. Changing tickets also a breeze, and the train status feature including platform information has been accurate sometimes with the platform information before It is on the reader board. You need to know the local names of the stations to book. Find the city you are going to on google maps. Click the little blue train icon and it will give you the correct name. For example Florence is Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Rome is Roma Centrale.

5. 1/5Absolutely Disgusting

   Teenitalia cancelled 4 of our trains in a single day. While traveling from Milan to portofino, Trenitalia provided 0 service but continued to accept payment. We had a train scheduled for 12, for which we arrived at the station at 11am. Trenitalia first delayed the train and then cancelled it. So we purchased tickets for the 1 pm train. Trenitalia proceed to do the exact same thing- delay and then cancel. They repeated this for both the 2 and 3pm trains. We ended up having to pay for a taxi which was around 450 euros to travel from Milan to portofino. Trenitalia offered zero refunds and made us submit a form online to request a review. We submitted the form and Trenitalia still refused to pay us back. We ended up having to file a complaint from our credit card provider. Trenitalia then went to challenge the compliant from our credit card provider. Zero trains, zero service, no customer support, and yet they still want our money. Beware of Trenitalia.

   L'ultima versione appena installata ha rallentato molto la navigazione. Frequenti errori di Internal Server. È necessario tentare più volte le selezioni prima di poterle ottenere. Il tema con caratteri piccoli ed il bianco accecante è molto fastidioso e decisamente peggiore della versione precedente al restyling. Dopo l'ultimo aggiornamento 13.500.0 52035 in avvio dell'App compare un messaggio di Crash. Ma l'App rimane aperta.

   1. Loyalty card points get lost if the transaction fails/cancels. There's no log of point usage in the account statement as well, so no way to show the point loss either 2. Tickets cannot be bought within 5 minutes of scheduled departure: a hassle for regional trains which substitute city buses

   They do not provide any backup option when the train gets cancelled, they leave customer to figure out of their own. You are providing the option to book the tickets even if the train is cancelled, and also my money is not refunded if the train is cancelled.

   This app does not work. I am in England. I cannot put in my country of origin. Therefore I cannot get my X-Go digital card for seniors' discounts.
