5/5Well designed and packed with the right features
After much frustration with Invisalign’s native app (lagginess, bugs, terrible user friendliness, and abysmal Apple Watch to iOS syncing of wear times), my partner, who currently is also an Invisalign wearer, stumbled upon TrayMinder. What an app! The interface is so much better and it has a lot of useful features allowing you to take control of tracking wear and off time. And Apple Watch syncing, for a well-worth in app purchase of $2, is spot on. Puts Invisalign’s app completely to shame and shows that sometimes 3rd party developers put much more effort and care into app development. Plus, the app has an Instagram account with helpful videos on managing the Invisalign trays. I will probably take the plunge and pay the $2 to remove ads because this app is just so worth it. The only missing features I can think of is Siri integration with Apple Watch and widgets on the iOS lock/Home Screen. However the existing Siri integration with iOS is already really handy!

1/5I paid for watch access now it’s removed after the move to subscription model with no compensation.
Sure, I ONLY paid $1.99 to have access on my Apple watch to the take out timer but since the move to a subscription based service I can no longer access the timer on my watch. I didn’t even realize the app moved to a subscription based model until I got a notification telling me I have 1 more day of access unless I subscribe, I had been wondering why there had been some inconsistencies in the app since the “major update” and the push to the subscription model. I know I only paid $1.99 but I’ve had other apps that I’ve previously purchased in-app upgrades for, and when those apps eventually moved to a subscription model, I still had access to the previous in-app upgrades I paid for, even if I didn’t even signup for the subscription. I really liked this app, in addition to paying for Apple watch access for $1.99, I even paid $1.99 to remove ads because I wanted to support the app. I was even about to purchase the lifetime subscription for the app, (and my aligners treatment stopped 10 months ago, but I like tracking my retainer usage), and because I really liked the app and wanted to further support it. But now I likely won’t because they depreciated my watch access that I had previously paid for. In the future it would have been nice to receive prior warnings to losing access to the feature I previously paid for; maybe a nice giant banner when opening the app “highlighting the new features and changes!” And/or at the top of the app so that people are made more aware of the changes. It’s not that I’m upset about the $1.99 it’s really that I feel like the messaging was no where about the changes and losing access to already paid for features, it just feels like the shoe was dropped a bit in the marketing & communications aspect of all of the app changes.

5/5Best Invisalign Tracker
This is better than the official Invisalign tracker. I used both the free and premium versions and they are both great. The premium has a great widget. The free has ads in a way that’s very reasonable. It doesn’t get in your way of tracking and only shows up once a day if you click into another tab. Watch the tutorial as it made everything super easy to understand. Everything you need to know is right there on the first screen. It’s easy to start and stop the timer. Reminders are easy. When to change trays are easy. Your goal for every day can be changed - this would be my only suggestion. I wish I could’ve chose 20.5 and 21 so that it turns yellow under 21 but red under 20.5. I tried 4 apps when first getting my Invisalign and they all had something I didn’t like. I thought I was going to have a hard time wearing my retainers and tracking but I’m right on schedule and I’m certain it’s from getting this app from the start.

5/5The best
01/20 ETA: I recently finished my treatment & have received my retainers. It would be great to see added functionality and/or notifications to specifically track retainer wear. I plan to continue using this app on my journey to “only needing to wear my retainers at night” & to help retain my new smile 😃 This is the best app if you’re going through Invisalign (or similar) treatment! This has made the entire experience less stressful because I don’t have to worry about manually calculating hours or whatever the equivalent would be. The progress photo feature is great. For me, this has been just as important as chewies in making sure I stay on track with my treatment. My orthodontist is a top 1% provider and the entire office has been so elated with my progress. I’m going to be finishing treatment ahead of schedule & I really couldn’t have done it without this app! I know I must sound like a shill, but I’m just very thankful for this app. I’ll also note that when a bug made the app unusable for me, it was fixed within hours! Thank you so much TrayMinder!! 😊

4/5Good, but could be more robust
I’m currently working through a treatment that only requires 10 hours of straight wear overnight. This app is really geared toward traditional aligners that are worn nearly the entire day/night. It would be nice if there was an accommodation for this type of aligner treatment (single wear duration vs daily hour total, daily reminders at specific times vs a timer after you’ve removed aligners and effectively “paused” the counter), but one can make due with the current functionality, a little addition and an external manual alarm. However, one feature that could (and should) be adjusted is the Calendar Color Codes. The red color is currently limited to a lower limit of 12 hours - that is more than my total treatment time per day! Considering this is an arbitrary integer, it would be nice if this limit was decreased to accommodate alternative treatments that aren’t geared toward all-day wear.
