1. 1/5Good idea but extremely difficult to use

   First off, I work in technology and have for close to 20 years. I say this so you’ll understand that I’m not a person who has zero technical skills when reading this review. We have 2 kids of different ages on 2 different teams, both use Trace. App design is really weird. You login to the app but the app is basically useless. if you want to watch games you are redirected to the web browser. In the web browser it’s hard to zoom in and out because that’s not what a web browser was really designed to do. Now I help set up the camera for games and have additional permissions. I’m now seeing that the app’s true purpose is this function. But now that I help setup/run the cameras for my older son, I can no longer see my younger son’s games. I have to switch back and forth between different emails to login to view games or wait for emails to come out and click on links in them (which is hard to find emails from weeks/months ago). The camera technology is great but they did not put much effort into the usability for parents/family members. It’s just an extremely painful process to view games. You should probably skip paying the fees until they fix the viewing experience.

2. 2/5Recent Updates - Went wrong

   Let me start with the fact that if you have a game at 3pm and you set up at 2:30 it doesn’t place a hold, it will start recording since that time and then you get a email complaining for start recording in advance. The recent updates are horrible, now you must have a membership to watch the game, or if there is a way to send to a friend we can’t figure that out anymore. It used to be extremely simple. Also I feel like an IT person every game I have to upload. I use to connect and download and no problem, but lately it’s always asking to push the update. Not uploading correctly and not uploading when plugged. I am not an expert, but I am savvy and handle technology ok. Also I am a manager in all academy teams and I can’t watch the games for my children let alone the other teams. It only allows me to do that using the login were my boys are. I had to add my family email and work email for the app to work. That was recent. I used to brag about TRACE but no more. Customer service it’s good, but all via email and I feel like every day I am writing and sometimes I can’t even get it solved.

3. 1/5Horrible new update!! Hate trace now!

   I was ranting and raving of how great trace was and their superior analytic, camera, ease of use, casting to the tv, full video, and playback. All of that has been either deleted from the app or changed so the function just don’t work. They changed a good thing and I can’t fathom why they would do so. I don’t know if it’s a money grab but the analytics are horrible. It just doesn’t work. We have a full team complain about things not working correctly. For example, the video playback, I don’t want just clips of random times my kid touched the all, I want what led up to the play, where other players are coming in from, what type of attack was formed, trace only has clips. I’ve searched high and low on this app and nothing. I would also like to watch teammates to know their tendencies, but that option is also not deleted from the app. Analytics before the update had speed, miles run, stamina, heat map. The new update , I don’t know, this app is horrible. Casting doesn’t work. I’m just at a lost of words. Our whole team got the pro subscription. Didn’t realize that they had an update. Wish I could’ve seen the app before committing to it because it’s unusable. My other team uses the veo and although it’s a bit rudimentary, it’s light years ahead in usability. How sad for me to write this because I was such a believer in the app. Probably got 3-4 teams who were on the fence for a camera to go with trace over veo off my recommendation. And here we are. Feel sorry for em now Hate the trace camera now

4. 1/5Avoid this…

   The team was excited to be able to watch themselves as were the families. The account issues the site and app have are horrendous. It’s so frustrating. The recordings are great if you can ever get to them. The ability to shift between players or just watch the entire game is so wonkie… the pro-account is a scam as it says you can download video but somewhere in fine print those videos are only available for less than 100 days unless you keep paying for a pro subscription which doesn’t even work for family members. The app is easy to record and the camera is fine, but if the account access is so muddled it doesn’t really matter how great the recording is. Support is only available via email, so good luck there. My team and the families are truly frustrated and when demanding our money back, via email because there is no one to call, it’s crickets. Pass on this waste of money!

5. 5/5Easy to use and reliable

   I’ve had trace camera for several years now. I record estimate 70 games per year give or take. I have only lost one game due tech issue. I have had the camera replaced once. I’ve always had great support from Trace and no issues. Been very accommodating and help find solution. As for recording easy one two. Sometimes the camera doesn’t catch key moments but it’s rare it happens. Sharing is difficult as it wants you to subscribe. It’s affordable and no long term commitment. Once you’re done just return and that’s all. It’s a lease and so you don’t own it. They stand behind their product and always try to improve with minimal to no increase In price. I’m happy with it.
