1. 3/5Chat is difficult when controlling a toy

   The app is okay. I like the ability to control another toy at random, but when you are able to take control, the chat can freeze up and then the app crashes. If you are able to keep talking, you need to type in shorthand as the keyboard disappears and you have to reengage it. It would be nice that if you get control in the Tophy app that it shows up in the Lovense app; that seems to be more stable for conversation. If you create a link and share it to Tophy, you as the one being controlled can chat in the Lovense app and also control the other toy (of the one controlling you) if they have one active. I don’t see any issues when conversing with the one controlling my toy in the Lovense app.

   Must allow a lot of things for this app to work. It is what it is. It’s a glorified cam sex app. Women set a cost (or have the option to set a cost) for a phone call stream based on time or set a cost for a video stream that you get to connect with them. Men don’t get that option to set a cost for either of these options. Interesting in itself but I guess it makes sense, they just do not like the use of VPN because they’re clowns 🤡 In order for this to pass the sniff test by Apple you pay for gold, $40 is 4K/5k gold, an audio phone call is usually ~100gold & a video call is ~200 gold. Most of the women on the app are from the Philippines, China, Russia and a small scattering of Ukrainian or German, a lot say they are from the US. You can decide for yourself if you think they want to be on this app themselves. But they also will record the phone calls or video calls regularly, for totally not nefarious things. Truly surprising Apple hasn’t cracked down on this but 🤷‍♂️ *after response* I’ll follow NSA & CISA guidance on VPN usage for an app that logs IPs and doesn’t scramble them when connecting to people. In addition to that most of the sex worker women on the app are showing in the US on their profiles; however they are not as it’s not possible to have the sun up beyond them being in Guam when it’s 10pm in Hawaii.    This app does allow you to connect to a widespread variety of people based off compatibility or your own search amongst users. You can unlock features within the chats ( voice,video,etc.) by how frequent both parties are communicating.i like that you can set moments to only an audience of your choice or public. You do get flagged on profile or moments’ pics for things that are not even in appropriate. Toy control is easy to use and you can set duration when playing with someone new. Only downer is that it does not have the option to control multiple toys at once like the lovense app nor have I been able to send a video within a convo by using the camera in chat. You have to do it in your phone camera app then send. Overall not a bad app to connect or play.

4. 1/5Sexist App - Unequal & Pay-Gated

   I’ve used Tophy for a while, and it used to be a social discovery app: fun, conversational, and balanced. Recently, though, the platform seems to have shifted heavily toward monetized interactions, especially involving sexual content and paid access to chats, calls, and sexual-themed features. The biggest concern is a clear imbalance in how features are enabled by default. Female accounts automatically receive options to charge money for video calls, phone calls, and content, while male accounts do not have the same configuration available. If accurate, this is a gender-based feature limitation, which raises questions around fairness, equality, and potentially discrimination. A platform that serves a diverse community shouldn’t restrict earning or feature access based on gender alone. If the app intends to be adult-content-focused, that should be made extremely clear up front. If the goal is connection, conversation, and meeting new people, then the current structure leans too far into pay-to-interact dynamics and makes the experience inequitable. I hope the developers reconsider this direction. Equal access to monetized features for all users, regardless of gender, would make Tophy feel more ethical, transparent, and enjoyable again. Until then, it’s hard to recommend the app the way I once did.

5. 5/5Good combination of social and toys

   Like many people, I downloaded this app because it was advertised in the Lovense app. That is the only reason I downloaded it. I was actually surprised when I started seeing people who were looking for dating or chatting in this app that is so heavily marketed toward toy control. The number of people on the app who immediately want to go to another platform drives me berserk. I have put in my profile that they will immediately be blocked if toy control is not the reason they are there. This, of course, does not affect scammers, because they never read the profiles. So now I just block them as soon as I see their profile setting. I really appreciate the reporting aspect. I’ve had sessions where my toy starts going, we get to the point where I’m expecting them to share their control info, and instead it’s a request for money. I tell them this is against ToS, which gets various responses, but never a “oh, I didn’t know, let’s play!” I screenshot it, go to report, ask them if there’s no other option to play, and report, then block. Also, every person who wants to switch apps gets blocked if they persist. The developer could easily block words like snap, telegram or tgram, cashapp, google chat, PayPal,etc. This would curtail it somewhat pretty quickly. I told the first person who asked for payment “Asking for money is against the ToS” and got flagged for using “money” in chat! So blocking keywords works somewhat. They just need to change what the filters are scanning for. But the first time I actually connected with someone and controlled their toy and we video chatted while sexting, I was stunned with how clean the interface was, with the controls and video on the same screen. Just amazing!! I’d pay for this app in a heartbeat, just to have the scammers and bots removed, it’s that much better than the stock Lovense app!!! One last interface change that would help. The badge icon for Toy Verified and just regular Verified needs to be different. When you’re chatting with someone and that badge is up in theheader, you can’t tell if they have a toy certificate or not. The badges are the same shape, color, and location, so until you tap and read the off white letters on the silver background, you don’t know. Make them drastically and unmistakably different, since they mean very different things!
