  1. 4/5The upgrade was probably necessary

But I miss being able to search in both directions for date added. Also, the alphabet down the side helped when navigating by title. A book can’t be removed from the list nor can the “read” flag be reset.

  2. 2/5Not working like it used to

I would give this app 5 stars for the several years I’ve been using it. Unfortunately, after a recent update, the app won’t load fully. When I open it, the screen is blank for almost ten seconds before the dozen or so most recently added titles appear with animated “loading” icons next to them, but then nothing happens (at least for a full minute, I haven’t given it more time than that). It is unresponsive. This is really too bad, because the app has been great for years up until this recent update. I hope this bug is fixed soon!

  3. 5/5Scrolling problem

I’ve used the app for years and I love it. But recent changes have me frustrated. When trying to scroll through a number of books by an author for example, I inadvertently select one that I didn’t intend to select. Then I have to delete that one and start my search all over again. This didn’t used to happen

  4. 5/5The Only App I’ve Donated To

This is the only app I’ve voluntarily paid money to. It’s an amazing free service - simple and intuitive and so valuable. The creator frequently updates and improves it; I so appreciate someone putting time into a free app for something so many people will need.

  5. 4/5Very solid app

This app does exactly what I was looking for. Easy to find and add a book to your reading list. Features that would make this 5 star for me: - The ability to quickly swipe (or click) to mark a book as read - both from the online search and from my personal list - The ability to add a note about a book as a reminder (would just be neat - less important than the first one) Keep it up dev. Good work!

  • 5.0

To Read 5.0 Book search is fixed. We switched from Google Books to Open Library, so searching for popular titles and scanning barcodes works properly again. The first time you open the app, your library updates itself in the background - you get sharper covers and automatic genre categories. Your books, notes, and reading history aren't touched. Also new: - Filter and sort your list by category, ownership, and priority - Redesigned book page - More stats: pages read, top categories and authors, your longest read - Export and import your library as a backup

  • 5.0.1 · 5 Aug 2026

To Read 5.0.1 A round of fixes for 5.0. The Unread and Read tabs were showing the wrong books. That's fixed, along with a crash when deleting a book and another when editing categories on a book you'd just added. Open Library has had some outages lately, so search now retries when it's slow instead of giving up, and tells you when the problem is on their end rather than your connection. Also fixed: - Covers no longer reload when you switch filters - Tapping a category in the Categories list filters your library to it - An empty list no longer tells you to add your first book when you've just filtered everything out
