  1. 5/5Love reading comics on the app

I love reading comics on the app! Some of my favorite artists are here, and I’m glad to be introduced to other artists’ work that I hadn’t seen before. The interface and the design is user friendly, and it helps that there are no distractions/ads as is usual with other social media apps. Just wanted to leave a quick suggestion for the app moderators; it’d be really helpful to bookmark our favorite comics under a single tab for each artist!

  2. 3/5Tom Tomorrow sent me, anonymously

Creators need to be paid, and when Dan announced in the Patreon email that the strip was moving to Tiny View, I followed and subscribed. It’s a fine little app with a couple of ridiculous vexing choices. First, if you want to have an account and get some sort of benefit, you need to enter a phone number. Nope. We already have a relationship through the App Store. I don’t give my phone number to anyone I don’t believe has a reason and permission to call me. What’s up with that nonsense? Then, if one wants to “follow” a strip, a balloon appears, demanding, “You need to go to Settings and allow Notifications.” No, I don’t. And I won’t, since you demanded it. Perhaps I’d respond differently to an invitation to be made aware when my favorite cartoon has new content for me. That’s different, isn’t it? Perhaps in future versions, they will be more respectful.

  3. 2/5Just a wrapper around a web view

This app just wraps a web view of the site, with no native navigation elements. I was unable to find a search bar, and navigating comics is painful. There doesn’t seem to be an easy Next/Back system, but rather some links to other comics in the series at the bottom that may or may not be populated. As others have mentioned, requiring notifications in order to follow comics is a nonstarter (thankfully you can disable them again after following). More annoying is the unfunny comments at the bottom of every comic. They can’t be hidden, and they ruin every punchline. Finally, it crashed after about 20 minutes of use. I bought a premium membership, but based on this experience I’ll probably read a few more comics and cancel it.

  4. 3/5Not a new concept

First off, this isn’t the first app to offer comics read in a top/down format. If anything, I haven’t been reading many comics by scrolling left to right on my phone in a while, especially with apps like Webtoons and Tapas around. I decided to give this platform a chance since there are two cartoonists that I follow on Instagram who are offering additional comics here. I don’t mind having to download yet another app, but the platform is a bit cluttered and confusing, especially to a new user. I can’t tell if it’s unorganized or *too* organized. There’s definitely room for improvement. Also, other platforms seem to have a more compact yet readable layout when it comes to scrolling among various series. The banner layout just takes up too much space.

  5. 3/5Sigh. Comments? Really?

I previously considered the app to be 4 stars (docked a star as I can’t zoom in on comics and that makes some stuff hard to read/see on my phone), and that’s why I’ve been a subscriber for some time. The addition of comments is frustrating. I like this because it is NOT social media. I simply want to scroll through the comics I follow, like the comics (to show support for the artists and make it easy for me to find what I last saw). I don’t want to see comments. But the only way I can “like” a comment is to create an account and login and then I see comments.

  2. 4/5

I like this app quite a bit and have found some creators I really enjoy, but if I have one problem it's the interface - the buttons are at the bottom of the screen covered by my phone's UI. Would love if it could be fixed, maybe a little three bar menu in one of the upper corners instead.

  5. 3/5

The updated interface is really annoying. Everything is in the way of the comics. It was bad enough when they put an ad INTERRUPTING the flow of the comics, now there's a shade over the bottom of the screen. When you load up a comic, maybe 20% of the screen shows the actual comic until you start scrolling.
