  1. 5/5Great newspaper🩷

After being forced to switch to the new app, I was trying to be open-minded about the new app. It was slower and seemed less user friendly but I was trying to give it a chance. This morning, the new version doesn’t have the real estate section on it at all. So, I went to the old version for that information. What will I do next week when the old version is gone??

  2. 3/5Worst app ever - has changed! And changed again!

This is my third addition to my review. The new app remains much better, but at least once every couple weeks it gets stuck on the previous day’s edition - twice this week alone. The only solution I have found is to delete and reinstall the app. It’s dumb - if anyone at the P&C is paying attention, please fix this glitch. When I wrote this review a few weeks ago, every word was true. But a week or so ago they released a new version that is so much better that I feel obligated to revise my review. There are still a few glitches, but the new app is now nearly completely functional. I’m changing my rating from 1 star to 4. Thanks to the P&C for fixing most of what made the previous edition so awful. The P&C used to have a pretty good app, but the latest versions, for many months, have been absolutely awful. I want to read the replica version on my iPad, but it’s so hard to get to! Even though I ask to be kept logged in, usually about once a week I get kicked out and have to sign in and go through a little portal that not only eliminates all privacy, but states clearly that my information will be sold. Plus, the app is just hard to use! I’ll swipe and swipe but a page won’t expand. Or I barely touch some part of the screen and I’m pushed back to the front page. Those are just a few of the difficulties of using this app. I am seriously considering going back to a paper newspaper, even though that is such a waste of resources. To be clear, we support the paper, have been subscribers for more than 40 years, and contribute regularly to the investigative fund.

  3. 2/5Latest Update Needs a Giant Step Backwards

This latest version will not automatically update the issue and I must delete the app, reinstall and sign in before being able to read that day’s newspaper. Navigation is still unnecessarily complex compared to the original version that I used for years with no complaints. If you touch the screen any way the app doesn’t like, the screen locks on maximum size and the user must go to the next page, go back to the previous page and touch it to read at normal size. My current iPads work seamlessly with all other apps. The only solution I see is to ditch this update and go back to an earlier version that actually works.

  4. 5/5Difficulty and issues with log in

This app is hard to us. The website is much better for ease in reading the paper. We have the digital subscription so we can read on a variety of devices. The updated app will not permit us to finish logging in when using our IPad or tablet. Logging in is ‘iffy’ on our phones, but, usually works. I suggest using the website and skipping the app.

  5. 5/5Good source

The Post & Courier helps me keep tabs on what is happening in the greater Charleston community and within our wonderful state of South Carolina. The journalists at the paper cover a wide scope of topics, delivering news, hometown tidbits, profiles of local leaders and of course in-depth analysis of chronic concerns such as flooding. Sometimes they are too “woke”, grandstanding a bit about extreme ideology, but I still enjoy reading the paper and value what it delivers.
