  1. 5/5Best Bowling Ball Layout Tool

Great app, it didn’t appear to work when I first tried it. The sliders wouldn’t move left or right on my iPad, I tired it on my phone and it worked just fine. Restarted my iPad and now it works perfectly. Wish I had something like this years ago, great description of what each layout should give you. Thanks, if my negative review is on your site please remove it, this is worth the money!!!!!!

  2. 5/5Perfect for league and tournament bowlers

This will be more than useful for determine the proper layout and ball reaction I need for tournaments. It also will guide me in filling gaps that I have. Thanks for adding the ability to keep my ball specs handy.

  3. 3/5Can use improvements

The app has a good idea behind it but can use some improvements. One is that you let the user save a layout, maybe have it where we can load that layout in your analysis section? Maybe add bowling ball cover stock as an option as that matters and core matters too? And maybe one where a user can enter the bowling balls RG and Diff to know how that ball will naturally react? Just thoughts to improve for sure.

  4. 3/5Needs improving

It would be nice to enter in numbers in the conversion feature and change the values to instantly see differences without having to reset. Same for creating a layout. Also. What happened to being able to enter in the undrilled numbers in a ball to see after drilling numbers.

  5. 1/5Beyond Basic

Was very excited when I heard about this app and waited for the iPhone release. Purchased it today and was beyond disappointed as the app truly doesn’t tell anything a person with any ball drilling knowledge shouldn’t already know. I thought there would be some kind of useful insight. Sorry guys but not going to help ball drillers. May be useful to bowlers who want a better understanding of what a certain drilling will do.

Added a function to allow users the convert drilling layout using the Storm Pin Buffer notation into Dual Angle Layout notation. Demo videos can be viewed on The Paddock App Facebook page.

  • 19

This version provides updated layout reaction summary look and information. I have also update the lane motion graphics to reflect the Bowl U ball motion perspective as viewed by the bowler when standing at the foul line.

  • 20

Graphic added illustrating where, on the lane, ball construction variables influence ball motion. Corrected syntax, grammar, and spelling errors.

  • 21

This update has a new feature for 2 handed and/or No thumb bowlers to create specific Dual Angle Layout for their style of play. Layout graphic for the No Thumb Layout shows the possible track flare pattern and the axis migration path of the layout.

  • 30

Updated Ball Motion Graphics Added Find Axis Tilt Calculator

  • 31

Corrected an issue with iPhones not being able to enter a negative number using the No Thumb Layout Function.

  • 38

A function has been added to the Create Layout to automatically adjust the created layout based on the Bowler's rev rate or RPM.

  • 39

A function has been added to the Create Layout to automatically adjust the created layout based on the Bowler's rev rate or RPM. Corrected spelling and grammar errors.

  • 40

Updated the PBA Lane Patterns to the 2022 versions including the new Harry Smith lane pattern. Updated the ball selection algorithm to provide the user with a wider array of bowling ball construction possibilities.

  • 44

We have added a new function called My Bag. This allows the user to save their bowling ball information on their device. Select Add a Ball to My Bag, from the menu, to add a bowling ball. Select My Bag to view the inventory of saved bowling balls. We have also added a Layout Strength Meter function. This function shows the user how much of an influence the Dual Angle Layout has on the bowling ball's overall motion. The Layout Strength Meter has been added to the Create a Layout, Analyze a Layout, and My Bag functions.

  • 50

Added a function that enables users to keep notes on bowling sessions.

The Paddock 3.0 Upgrade: The Physics of Striking, Refined. We’ve rebuilt the engine. The Paddock 3.0 moves beyond simple angle calculations and introduces a holistic "Sports Science" approach to ball motion. Every layout now factors in the delicate balance between your physical release and the core’s internal dynamics. What’s New in 3.0: * The Balance Engine (LS:RPM): Version 3.0 now categorizes your "Bowler Balance." Whether you are Speed Dominant, Rev Dominant, or Matched, the app automatically adjusts the Starting Sum and Starting Ratio to ensure your ball never "quits" or "skates." * The 9-Profile Release Matrix: We’ve added deep-layer logic for every combination of Axis Tilt and Axis Rotation. From "The Thumper" (Low/Low) to "The Full Spinner" (High/High), your layout now compensates for your specific axis of rotation. * Core-Specific PD Logic: Pin-to-PAP (PD) distances are no longer "one size fits all." Version 3.0 uses distinct flare-potential math for Symmetrical vs. Asymmetrical cores to maximize (or minimize) track flare based on your needs. * "Why This Works" Summaries: No more "black box" numbers. Every Analyzed layout now comes with a plain-English explanation of the Physics and the Intent, helping you understand exactly how the ball will read the midlane and move through the pins. * Integrated Surface Matrix: A layout is only as good as the friction it creates. 3.0 provides optimized benchmark Surface Grit recommendations based on your Bowler DNA. * Motion Shape Geometry: Let the app solve the DA : VA ratio for you. Version 3.0 provides 2 benchmark layouts, for a Symmetrical Core and Asymmetrical Core, and 20 more Dual Angle Layouts characterized by flare amount, how fast axis rotation is lost, and how soon the ball rolls forward. All of the layouts are based on your Bowler DNA.

Find Ball 3.0 moves beyond simple recommendations. We’ve rebuilt our logic from the pindeck up to treat your bowling ball like a high-performance vehicle. Version 3.0 synchronizes your Bowler DNA with the Lane Environment. Key Updates: Precision Core Mapping: Our new engine treats RG as your transmission and Differential as your traction control. The app now calculates the ideal core strength based on the "window of opportunity" dictated by pattern length. Surface Prep: Gone are the days of just "Dull" or "Shiny." Find Ball 3.0 provides specific grit-sequence recommendations—including Compound, Polish, and Slip Agents—based on volume (mL) and pattern buff length. Adaptive Layout Logic: Introducing Dynamic Angle Sums. The app now suggests Dual Angle layouts that shift based on your Axis Tilt and RPM, ensuring the ball transitions exactly when the oil ends. Enhanced Pin-to-PAP Customization: We’ve introduced Benchmark Pin-to-PAP distances. These are automatically modified by pattern volume and ratio to ensure you get the perfect amount of flare displacement for every condition. The "Safety Override" System: Are you a high-tilt spinner or a low-tilt thumper? Version 3.0 detects extreme PAP (Positive Axis Point) measurements and applies automatic safety offsets to your layout, preventing core inversion and ensuring stable axis migration. Pattern "Buff" Integration: For the first time, the app factors in Buff Length to determine how "jumpy" or "smooth" your surface and layout needs to be to navigate the transition from oil to dry. Technical Refinements: Refined Bowler DNA Profiles: Improved "Matched," "Dominant," and "Slightly Dominant" balance categories. Intermediate Differential Logic: Specialized "Torque" recommendations for Asymmetrical cores based on oil depth. Updated Pattern Database: Optimized for modern high-volume and high-ratio "house" conditions.
