4/5Like the app, but...
...sometimes the articles don't flow, and there are still glitches with the puzzles feature. If you tap pnce on an article, it normally opens in a new window with a larger view of the text. The entire article can be read by just scrolling down. On some, it ends at the same place it ends on the print version and then you have to exit the article, go to the continuation page, and then read the rest of the article. As for puzzles, there is no way to log into your account from the puzzle page until you've completed a crossword or another puzzle. Additionally, once you've logged in, it should keep your scores so you can see how you did over the month. The CROSSWORD PUZZLE does NOT do this. There are many other glitches to the crossword as well, too many to mention. Bottom line, I very rarely play the crossword anymore as it just doesn't work correctly.

5/5Where are the main Sunday comics?
To start with, I do like not having to wade through the afternoon editions to find my preferred morning editions. That’s a positive. I switched to the electronic paper due to the continuously reduced number of printed paper days, and soaring prices. It made sense to get all the papers in one place. As long as I got everything that was in the printed editions, I was happy. But with this latest change, I can’t find the main collection of Sunday comics that were in the print paper and the supplements before. That makes me very disappointed. I’m not going out to a different site to look at a listing of comic names in a TOC to try to find my 20 or so favorites. That’s ridiculous. I want to open one app and my one paper (with a supplement or two), and catch up on the news and comics over a meal. Reading the paper is not supposed to be a research project. Bring back the Sunday comics to the electronic newspaper…please.

4/5Page size
My husband and I love the printed format of the paper ( as opposed to headlines with links), and are thankful the Oregonian still has the morning print edition available in the app. We enjoy reading on our iPads each morning. However a recent update made it so that rather than one page at a time, you can only get the two page spread. So no longer can we tilt the iPad to make the page fit horizontally but view just the top half—making the font size readable. Now you have to use your fingers to stretch the screen and then scroll about to read different articles. We’ve gotten used to it but the old way was easier. Over all, the app works great other than this complaint.

1/5Stuck
The latest version was pretty good until it REALLY wasn’t. In today’s edition I am stuck in the individual article mode. I was in that mode, reading an article in the sort of pop up window, when I had to step away from my iPad for several minutes. I returned to find that the app had timed out, forcing me to tap the icon to get back into the app. It was still in the single article mode! That seemed like a nice feature, except the Nav button in the upper left is Home, not Back, and Home takes me out to the opening app page, not to this day’s edition. Other than swiping left through EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE in today’s edition, I have no way to read today’s paper in the app. I’ve tried restarting the app, going to a different day’s edition and back to today, and logging out of the app, but nothing gets me out of article mode for today. The only other thing I can think of is to delete the app and reinstall, but I’m sick of doing that for so many apps that have serious bugs.

5/5Great app
We subscribe to the print version of this paper, but it’s delivered only Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Most of the time, even when I have the paper version, I just read it online using this app. I’ve been using the app through several updates, and the interface is increasingly reliable and intuitive. Only a few minor problems: if I shift to another app and come back, I’ll often get the message “a newer edition is available, would you like to download it now?” Sometimes when I hit no, it downloads the same day’s edition again and I have to scroll to where I was. Overall, I’m happy with being able to read my news this way and to support my local news source.
