  1. 5/5Star Tribune review

Have always loved reading your paper. I am sad of the smaller paper and fewer reporters as you have always had outstanding reporting . I also want to say that I’ve appreciated the person on your staff who double checks the spelling- after the Spellcheck automated system. Sentence structure matters to the intent of the message and STrib has always seemed to be really so aware about that. My mother was a schoolteacher and she was picky picky picky about spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. I like reading billboards, roadside signs of one kind or another. Looking for some ‘Oops’ in the sign about those English topics I mentioned. So thanks for your attention to these things. They matter. I have a 88 yr old friend. I gift her a daily and Sunday paper for her birthday, Christmas and other holidays. She tells me it’s a highlight of her day to make a cup of coffee, sit down and read your paper. And she thinks of me everyday. So thanks for all you do for us who love the Star Tribune. Keep it up. We’ll keep reading…

  2. 3/5Overall, a good app, with some issues

I appreciate the Star Tribune app. I like the layout of the front “page,” it’s great to see what the editors find top stories. One can page down to get a nice glance about what’s happening. Also, the sections are easy to get to. The videos don’t execute well on the iPhone. Most often, one can’t hear the sound even if the sound on the app and the phone are at max volume. That’s a problem that’s been happening since the start of the app years ago. Also, the internal search engine is very poor - even with the recent upgrade. I can type in word-for-word the paper version of the article headline or the on-line version (they’re sometimes different) and I won’t get the article. I’m much better off getting out of the app, and doing a Google search. Also, I wish that certain regular columns had their own page - like the Ask Eric (or whatever it’s called.) If one searches for the author, one gets a hodge-podge of stuff - some related to that column, most not. And one doesn’t see the latest article often. This has also been a problem since the start.

  3. 5/5Update is amazing!

I love the app and the update to the UI is so much better. One thing that would be nice if possible, is if they had “Today’s Paper” as links to each article on the website, instead of an ereader in the external browser. The New York Times does it that way, and it allows you to save articles to apps like Pocket to read later and not have to keep coming back to the app and re-opening the paper and navigating back to where you left off. Sometimes, if you leave the app open but don’t use it for a few hours, it refreshes and the ereader for Today’s Paper is closed again.

  4. 1/5Non-Existent Informational Value

Kinda had it with the Star Tribune after decades of putting up with bias and marginal reporting. My wife agrees. The paper is now a pamphlet, no doubt due to its only printing of positive things on the left and negative things about the right. The amount of either is down to a trickle. You could easily double the size of your paper if you just printed the data, the info, the dates and times and just what happened. No paraphrases, no chopped clips, no cherry picking of items from a long speech to manufacture a “gotcha”. Full quotes! And a link to the complete speech or video! About once in every 3 to 6 months I actually read something interesting, new, thought provoking and relevant. Andy Brehm is usually the author. We need new unbiased information to inform us. We need clarity on the issues, not just the woke view. See Dennis Prager for help on the clarity issue. We the electorate need to understand the issues clearly so we can make informed choices when we vote. At this point in time, the Star Tribune is not a serious contributor. You have degraded this paper into just another left wing squawk box in a sea of left wing squawk boxes.

  5. 1/5Glitches that the magazine won't support resolving

I have a recurrent account and have been making payments through my apple subscription system. When I use the app, after a couple of articles, I am blocked and get a pop up to subscribe or log in. When I click "log in," the link doesn't advance to a login page. This has been happening for over a month. Since the glitch didn't seem to be resolving, I tried to find an email for support at star tribune and one wasn't readily available from searching. I called and was told I would need to talk to Apple about my subscription. I kept reiterating that the app doesn't work to take you to a log in screen for entering my credentials for an account and they said I should talk to Apple. After over a month of not having access and no plan for the company resolving the issues on their own app, I will not be continuing my subscription. I joined to support local news but it isn't worth the effort if I can't access the content.
