  1. 5/5Easy to use. Simple. A must have for song writers.

This app has a few features without going overboard. They include rhymes and a thesaurus. You can pick the theme or color of the text, and pick the writing mode (line by line or by sections). You can put the songs into different folders to organize your work. This is purely to write songs and record melodies, it doesn’t include the instruments, like if you wanted to add piano. It is super simple and a great way to start songs and ideas. Too much more complex details would make this way too overwhelming for a beginner and if you are looking for something simple or a place to start writing your lyrics, which is as important as the background music and melodies, this is the app for you. I have been using it for almost two years now, and I have written so many songs. Some I create the entire song, some I put into Ai to see what instruments/instrumental music they add, and some I just create melodies for, and some don’t even give me a second thought. I just write those to write those. This is a must need.

  2. 5/5Simple. Intuitive. Works. This removes the friction in the moment of inspiration.

I’m glad I checked the settings, because that option to write in lines or sections is key- you need both. I haven’t tried copying yet, but if there’s no space between sections when pasted, I would agree with the other reviewer… there should be. As a pure capture tool, nothing more is needed. The other features like finding rhymes are part of a larger writing process, for which there could be a lot more support. For instance, instead of lines and sections being a toggle, they should coexist. Inserting, comments or notes, drag and drop would be some good additions. Also could add a way to tag entries as ideas for the note jar or as a song draft. Going beyond that (mapping, syllable and meter counts, notation or chords, verse template placeholders) would change the scope from being a pure capture tool.

  3. 5/5I Give It A 10 Star Rating

I Give It 10 STAR RATING how convenient is it especially for an artist to take whatever’s on your mind And be able to write and type it up instantly And at the same time have a record button “Directly beside it that automatically records it so you never lose track Or for example remember a certain sound or beat that you had in your head Which has actually happened to a number of professional artist I’m sure The features of the app actually help with Writers Block If you have it or actually speed up the process of getting project, track or song written Just by keeping you organized by having every tool that you need to stay organized and up to date right there.

  4. 5/5It’s got everything you could need

You ever write a line and forgot how it went rhythmically? Not anymore! You can voice record each line individually. Struggling for the next rhythm for the next line. Boom! Rhyming dictionary with a simple double tap. I have four other writing apps (not including notes app) and I never touch them. This app alone with that record feature has turned all of those into wasted money I just keep them for the old works on them. I’ve had it about a year now, so this ain’t some “new app hype”. I got one of those pop up feedback things in the app and felt I owed it the developer and world at large to speak for this apps greatness!

  5. 5/5Can’t believe it’s free!

I would happily pay a few extra bucks for a built in rhyme generator you can turn on and off like in the Rhymers Block app— this is way more simple, convenient and straightforward. (And nothing about it pushes rap, hip hop or some music genre on you) Especially the ability to switch lines around, so great! I love the green and black color scheme, it fits my Goat Surgeon brand colors for writing death metal! This is my go to for lyrics writing! EDIT: I made the suggestion and the developer heard me and implemented it. I’m excited to see how the rhyme generation turns out! I think it’s awesome they heard me and acted on it! That’s great

From your iOS device, go to the Files app on your phone. From there, tap browse, then select iCloud Drive (if it isn't already selected). In that folder you will see a folder for The Lyrics App, which contains folders for each of your songs. Each song folder contains a text file with the lyrics of the song, as well as a folder containing all of the recordings for that song. You will also be able to access these folders from the Finder on your Mac. In order to utilize this new feature, make sure that iCloud Drive is enabled on your device. Big thanks to Lawrence Ough for suggesting this update!
