1. 4/5I love the store, I don’t like ordering

   I have had Elfa products for 40+ years, and have moved most of them as much as 4 times. I’ve been happy with store service, installation,support, contactless pickup, ship to home. What has annoyed me is online shopping - not the concept, the mechanics. It is not intuitive to find what I’m looking for, even if I’m only searching Elfa. With the app there seems to be endless scrolling, the setup is for the phone, not the tablet, and I can’t seem to avoid refining the search at least twice. Then I get to checkout, and suddenly there are items unavailable that I must discontinue. I have to search them out (not simple), figure out if ANY are available if I ordered a multiple, then decide if I want the rest of my order. Why can’t I find this out when I first select the item? And why can’t I get info as to when the item will be restocked without launching a separate inquiry? This might be possible with the website on the PC, but not in my Elfa closet on the tablet. Wishlist it is, I suppose.

2. 4/5Navigation options to limited

   I love the Container Store, but the people programming the app took the easy way out. Instead of letting me search by product category or specific manufacturer’s associated components, my searches keep returning massive numbers of completely unrelated items. Also, if I want a specific sized storage container and know the maximum height width and depth I should be able to search using those parameters, with nothing larger appearing in the search results. And the items closest to my dimensions, appearing first. But this is not built into this retailers search functionality.

3. 1/5Can’t Meet Commitments

   I purposefully chose the store that showed my items as in stock for pick-up. The promised pick-up date came and went, and my order (which I had to check on, as no communication came to indicate anything) showed ‘delayed’ with no further information (new date? Option to pickup some items? Apology that items were now out of stock?). I checked status of my order from desktop online menu, using chat, and was told I needed to call the store. Called the store and was told they couldn’t find one of my items. Wasn’t offered the option to pick up the remaining items. Was told they would call back in half an hour when another employee came in who might know where my items were. My order remains in delayed (limbo) status. Re-ordered the exact items, which all still indicate are in stock. We’ll see if they can execute the second order. I could abide by a delayed status if they push communicated to me or otherwise attempted to reset expectations, but no attempt was made.

4. 2/5Basic functionality but lots of friction

   Used the app for the first time to place an order. I completed the task but almost gave up when I could not use Apple Pay. Noticed I can’t use Apple Pay on the web site either. Make it easy for me to pay and I’ll buy more ;-) Also, in using the app at no point did the app take advantage of the built in capabilities of iOS to autofill fields (credit card, address, email, etc) meaning I had to manually enter those items. This app has a high degree of friction compared to other apps I use, making it less likely I’ll use it often. I was able to find the feedback area in the app but even after being logged into the app I still had to manually enter all my data for the form. If I’m logged into the app it should be able to populate those fields yet allow them to be changed if needed. Sign In with Apple would also be a benefit. The fewer accounts I have to create and manage the better.

5. 1/5Cannot forward links

   This is gotta be the worst app ever. As a professional organizer for over 20 years I have been a customer of the Container Store since 2003. Spending thousands on containers, closets you name it . When the app came out, I thought great this way I could easily forward to my clients things that I recommend they purchase. However, for some reason in the app, there is no up arrow or forward link to a contact via a text or an email. Come on Container Store get it together how can you not have that option in your app?? And if you do, how am I supposed to link forward and share any items on your app to another person’s phone? It’s been such a big loss. I’ve been decided to just find the products elsewhere and now you’re missing out on purchases. But I also just heard that you are going bankrupt. So good luck.
