  1. 5/5Helpful so far

I’d like to preface by saying i have an iphone 13 and i do not pay for the app (the free version works fine for my purposes) i was getting quite literally 3-5 texts a day spouting off some random republican campaign stuff that was very clearly a scam (if you get them you know what im talking about). not sure why i started getting them a year ago but every single one is addressed to my mom so that’s a possibility. either way i got tired of getting notifications every single day that i received a text only to find out it said something along the lines of “TRUMP NEEDS YOU” and the unknown senders feature for the iphone isn’t helpful in that department so i gave the app a try and oh my god the relief i feel now is immense. i used a few of the keywords that are always in the spam texts that id never say myself (stop=end for example) and it has worked GREAT. the junk folder does its job and i just check it every few days to report the texts ive gotten and check to make sure nothing important got sent there on accident. overall this has made using my phone so much better and if you’re tired of getting scam text notifications i highly reccomend it!

  2. 5/5Does the job!

I was getting multiple group text messages throughout the day and night. All have sexual innuendos. I never responded, and always blocked each of the 20 numbers/email addresses in the chat before deleting the message. Unfortunately, they kept coming, by simply changing a single number or email in the group, thus creating a new group. The other night I got 2 messages with sexual inference just before 4am. Because I have to be available for my job at all times, I can’t use Do Not Disturb or block all unknown messages at night. The AT&T rep suggested I try TextKiller. Before I left the store, the app had already blocked 2 messages to a Junk folder! So far, it seems to do exactly what it is supposed to, and can even learn what is junk when you add keywords to scan for in the messages. However, I have found the junk messages still come through on my Apple Watch. There is a message next to the text saying “Possible Junk”. Is there a way to filter the messages on the Apple Watch that are blocked on my iPhone? The notifications are silent on the watch, but I still have to delete them manually.

  3. 5/5What a lifesaver! Great app!

I started getting repeated spam text messages out of the blue. I’ve had this number for over 10 years, and never had an issue, but within the last few months, I started getting a spam text here and there, and then it steadily increased to multiple per day. They’d come from various numbers and email addresses, sometimes individually, sometimes in group texts…always just plain junk. I did what AT&T suggests by reporting the message and sender to the SPAM shortcode (7726), but after doing that, the messages not only didn’t stop, they increased! The two may or may not be related, but regardless, it ticked me off! I searched for app options to block unwanted texts, and this is the first option that came up. I signed up for the trial, and then quickly signed up for the paid plan! This works—I haven’t had a single spam text come through my Known Senders, and TextKiller has caught dozens of them and filtered them out. THANK YOU for a great app! Well worth the $40/year to filter out the junk.

  4. 5/5Seriously amazing

I had gotten a new phone number and almost immediately was getting atleast 20 spam texts a day and I couldn’t just block them because they would send the text in group messages and always a different type of email. It was so frustrating to wake up to a dozen of spam texts in the morning only for it to keep coming and having to constantly look down at my phone to make sure it wasn’t a text from family only for it to be spam. This app is a life saver, seriously. After doing some research on how to stop spam texts I saw a lady post about this app and I decided to look into it. I’m glad I did. As soon as I signed up it instantly went into effect and I have not gotten ONE spam text since. The only downside is that I do have a text subscription with my health insurance company and it does send those texts to a spam folder but luckily it gives the option to go through the texts that the app has blocked so I can make sure I can respond to those texts.

  5. 3/5Does not actually blocked text messages just puts them in a separate folder

So far this is not “blocked” anything that I have put in a keyword for such as Dr. OZ or CBD (I get multiple text messages weekly which have those keywords in them, they are spam and phishing text.) This app just created another folder called junk and puts them in there…. with the iPhone you have the ability to separate out known from unknown callers putting unknown callers in a folder called “unknown” which I was doing. So this is the same thing only made a different folder called junkAnd cost $30 a year to do that. Doesn’t block them. Update, The developer did respond to me to say that Apple will not allow them to block the offending text messages it only allows them to put it into a junk folder so it’s really not a problem they can overcome. But like I said IIn the original review can do the same using apples “filter unknown senders setting”.
