   There’s a lot of different information on the internet. To be honest, lol, many of it is very hard to believe without any proof that you can see for yourself. When I crossed paths with CNET in 2011, I got something of value within seconds of registering on the App.! I just wanted you to know that I am so grateful for your help with my Instructional knowledge of life’s terms. Thank you for the sweet pre-time informative knowledge that you always do! 2. 2/5Notifications don’t lead to a story

   Every once in a while I get a notification from the CNET app that sounds interesting. I tap on the banner and it takes me to the app, but the story that the notification refers to isn’t anywhere to be found. It has happened for as long as I can remember. Also, some of their own ads are ridiculously out of date. There’s still an add that’s titled “What’s coming with the iPhone 13?” or something like that. Hello? Anyone home? I also hate the way that they take the same story and give it a new title so that you’ll hopefully read it again and subject yourself to more ads. Some of the stories are interesting, and the deals occasionally yield a fortuitous purchase. That’s why I’m giving it 2 stars instead of one. I hope that they’ll read the reviews and actually do something about them. One can only hope.

3. 1/5More clickbait than tech

   I used to really like this app but somewhere along the way they forgot they were a technology site and became your centralized source for all things “stimulus”. At one point 7 of the 10 of the articles articles you could swipe through at the top were all different slants on the latest - or the potential next - stimulus package. Maybe that’s how to fund a tech purchase but it’s not Tech. Who knows? Maybe during the height of the pandemic and stimulus payouts they were seeing a huge bump in traffic from new users. Catering to them was short-sited because now those of us that used them for their core namesake mission are moving on. I hope they have another set of clickbait stories to replace the traffic. I guess it’s possible that C/Net Really meant Clickbait/Net and I just never realized. To make matters worse they just released a required update that doesn’t work and won’t let you use the app until you successfully update. So to recap… a tech site that doesn’t report on tech and broke their own app. Great. Move along. There are so many other options for tech news. May as well use a site that actually gives tech news. If I want stimulus information, I’m not seeking it out from a tech news site.

4. 1/5Fallen From Grace

   CNET used to be my go to app for all things tech. They had reliable, high quality articles, an app the was updated regularly, and writers that were experienced and trusted. That is no longer the case. Since CNET was sold in 2020, this app has gone downhill. The article feed is full of bloat and random articles, very rarely related to tech. Many are reposts of old articles that have been "updated with new information", but have really only had a tiny change so they can repost it, and are dated by the time of posting. Take Apple's latest announcement. In the past there were articles posted with constant updates as the event occurred, a review article of the products within a day or two, and a full hands on article shortly after they were fully released in store. Now, they had one tiny article with minimal details, and nothing else. And to even find that you had to scroll through miles of junk and chaff. In addition, I can't tell you the last time they actually fixed their app. At the top of the app there is a top news area that has a larger photo and you can scroll through. That has been broken and stuck on the same 10 articles since February 29th, 2024. CNET used to be one of the best apps on the App Store, and one of the best tech news sites around. That is no longer the case. It is with deep regret that I can no longer recommend this app and highly recommend you look elsewhere until they update their system, fix their app, stop using AI to help them write so many of their articles (they stopped completely using AI to write them in 2023, but they still use it to accelerate their article writing) which seems to have led them to blast the internet with as many articles as possible, and go back to their roots as a premier source of tech news.

5. 3/5Really Needs A Revamp

   I REALLY want to like this app, but—compared to iOS and iPadOS—the tvOS version is extremely “kludgey”. As soon as the app opens, a video starts playing, and it’s extremely confusing to know how to stop it because the only option is “KEEP PLAYING”. Not to mention, there are no settings for the app at all, which also means you aren’t able to log into an account (if you so choose). Also—after finally figuring out what was going on—when select a video to watch, instead of staying in the same (screen) position you were on, you are brought all the way back to the top… where you are “stuck” in the “KEEP PLAYING” position. I really hope this is replaced with much better UI/UX soon.
