1. 5/5Why would the app delete my drawing? Not okay.

   I’ve used this app for a few years now and loved it right away. When I first got it, I didn’t purchase a subscription and was still happy with my experience. This morning, I open the app, and the sketch I draw on everyday was deleted. I was confused and kind of sad because I have iCloud sync on. I didn’t blame the app right away. I try to create a new sketch and it says I have to have a subscription to create a new one. I assume that the creators of the app changed the allowed number of sketches you can have without a subscription. Out of the three sketches I still have, I choose to edit one of them, erase everything and start a new sketch that way. I was able to edit it throughout the entire day and before bedtime, I open the app and that sketch is deleted. I knew at that point that the app was removing my sketches. I try to create a new sketch and learn that I am only allowed to have one sketch without a subscription. Instead of deleting my drawings after, I would have appreciated a pop up notification notifying me that per the app’s updated rules, I am only allowed a limited number of drawings. It isn’t fair that my drawings were removed. I think people should be aware of this possibility when creating a sketch, that it could be deleted by the app’s system, especially those who create detailed and time consuming works of art. I am very hesitant to use this app to create anymore as I fear it could be deleted out of nowhere without warning. I don’t think it’s okay that the app has the ability in the first place to remove drawings. I will just save that one drawing I have left that I am allowed to keep and delete the app.

2. 5/5I gave finally found my ipad pro drawing app! the Holy Grail!

   from the very first sound of a whisk as I slide ny pencil across the paper, I was in love. finally, people who get it. I have spent the last two months bouncing around between Adobe Fresco, Photoshop, Paint, Sketchbook, Procreate; they all had features I loved contrasted against features I hate. Why doesn’t photoshop have a functional smudge brush? why doesnt fresco have a Gaussian blur filter. and on and on it went. I liked some of the brushes in one but then it wouldn’t do blending or some thing like I like so I was trying to take drones back-and-forth between four or five different apps and that was just a workflow nightmare. And then I downloaded this beauty. Where the tools actually act like you expect them to act in the life they sound good they feel good they blend beautifully and instantly everything just got better and made more sense. I if ever there was an app that let you drawl everything that means to most people who’ve ever drawn on paper this at re-create that experience and you can just pick up where you left off with paper. it has everything you need and nothing else. It’s a little streamlined but it totally works I highly recommend that you save money and up all the other ones even though they’re cool and just buy this if you just want to draw and make things that are beautiful or that please you and you have old-school skills this is the app for you. it’s beautifully done. And I’ve been waiting for it like a paper texture laminate to come in for my iPad because it seems too slippery for me and I swear the sound here and make me forget that I am dragging across glass. I love the way it sounds.

3. 4/5Great drawing app until recently

   This is a really good app for making art, it has many tools and still is easy to use. Unfortunately, it has recently become really annoying to use. The app lets you know that too many layers can make the app crash, but sometimes the app crashes even when I'm only using a few layers. Also they removed two features that were really helpful to me. The tool that lets you cut and move around something you draw used to also let you duplicate drawings easily. If you cut a drawing and then pressed undo, you could then put a duplicate of the drawing elsewhere. It may have originally been a bug, but it was really helpful to duplicate drawings without creating tons of layers. Another thing they removed is easy organization. When you created a folder, you used to be able to manually organize where drawings were placed in the folder, but now they made it so you could only organize the drawings by when they were created or when they were last modified. This is still an amazing app, but i wish they fixed the bugs and brought back the features i enjoyed.

4. 2/5PLEASE BRING THE OLD STUFF BACK

   The new updates are useless, you took away the community scroll which was fun because you could look at other people’s work without harsh comments and you could even copy and paste some work so the kids could color and learn from tracing (plagiarism wasn’t really a problem with the community scroll because you couldn’t subscribe to any artists, it wasn’t supposed to be another instagram, it was supposed to just be a place where you could scroll through people’s work and get inspired) and if someone drew something bad you could just report it but thankfully that never happened. But now its gone and all the fun with it. You also never got rid of some glitches such as it crashing and not saving your previous artwork, and now a new glitch, you can’t press the undo button at random times and you have to leave the picture and do this over AND OVER AGAIN. It didn’t used to do that. And now I can’t put a space in the typing feature with my iPad keyboard again like it used to even though I can put any sort of characters and letters. What kind of update is changing the look of the icons for the brushes and tools if they work the same? Nothing changed, it’s just a useless update that makes it look 3d that doesn’t help the artist whatsoever. The only reason I was on this app was because I liked the feel and prediction of the tools more so than others, but now that it’s getting worse with NO real help to fix and patch up these bugs I’d rather just get another app if they don’t fix this soon. Please, no more useless updates.

   I used to use this app to make most of my art until it updated and got rid of the community. The features are fine mostly, sometimes if there are too many layers it will crash. I don't know about others experiences but its always saved my work when it crashed. Now it doesn't have the community and you have to pay for more things? I had Sketches Pro before it updated so maybe I just didn't have to I guess? Also I noticed Pro is more expensive now, also not cool. And the community thing, I understand it was difficult to moderate but it was a safe community with simple features and not a lot of ways to give negative comments on others work. People mostly just had art contests and complimented each others work if there were any interactions between users at all. It's on instagram now, but most people who used the community aren't on there. Most people who used it weren't even allowed on instagram. So while I appreciate the updates to tools, I miss the simplicity and positivity of the community. If you do manage to improve the features enough to a point where you can put in the effort to bring back the community, please do because I think me and a lot of others would appreciate it.

   update: I'm sad to say that, months later, my favorite paid drawing app is still unusable now. Deeply disappointing. original review: This was my hands-down, ride-or-die drawing app on my phone, and had been for years. It has become really buggy in recent years, but I kept using it until now, when it started just straight-up deleting my work. I'll miss this app; it was the best one, and now it's abandonware. R.I.P.
