1. 3/5Usable but needs some improvement

   I access several forums with this app and it does alright. It could use a little more powerful user interface. I'd like to see the ability to start a new thread rather than being limited to only posting responses in existing threads. I'd like to see a Feedback button in the Settings of the app so that we can offer suggestions or requests from the app rather than hoping Tapatalk reads through hundreds of reviews here to find our lone review with suggestions. I'd like to see a more intuitive interface for posting photos to threads. Overall, it's decent but it seems like a work in progress. I hope they update it again soon. UPDATE: 2017 - Still plenty of bugs! If you make a custom Signature for a forum, it won't Save it. It reverts back to a generic "Sent my my iPhone using Tapatalk". It's pretty annoying.

2. 1/5Fake search results

   Tell me WHY the search feature in an app all about forums, does not work? I tried to see what forums existed, to see if there was anything of interest for me. I typed in a search word of interest…a handful of search topics were auto generated, as if they existed in this app… BUT if you were to tap on ANY of those individual results that returned, I consistently got this message : “Oops! We couldnt find ‘( insert whatever forum topic I tried looking for here) , try something else!” I tried about 20 different generic search terms with the same results. I guess the goal is to get folks to sign up for the lifetime, thinking there will be all kinds of topics of interest in the app? When in actuality there is no way to preview what forums exist without paying. I don’t know about you all, but I don’t pay sight unseen. Also when I created an account, it auto suggested a handful of forums to me…the only ones I could search through in fact. One of them was for Tapatalk support- ok, makes sense. Another was for guitars. I don’t play the guitar. Another was for beards… I am a LADY and I am not all that hairy, either. Well, maybe my legs in the winter. Get it together- if there were an actual way to browse forums before purchasing a subscription or lifetime I might actually do it…but this is very deceptive as it leads people to believe the search results that come up when they put in a term are actual forums, when in fact, they lead to an error message.

3. 2/5Since TT 7.2 nothing but freezing app/kills battery

   I have used tapatalk since available on iphone and watched it “grow” and been very tolerable of the process. It has been a great way to monitor and browse multiple forums of interest. However, since version 7.2.x tapatalk freezes randomly. I always hope that with each update it will get fixed, but it still hasn’t. Currently IOS 13.1.2 and latest Tapatalk as of November. To add, now it is killing my battery, to the point that the app is not usable. Unfortunately there is not an alternative to this app that I have found yet. Update: ios14.4 on iPhone12 now and whatever latest version of tapatalk is. Still cannot leave it open in background. It kills the battery. Have to force quit the app or put iphone into low power mode. I guess it continues to cycle adds in the background. This is why I have never purchased it, well that and all the crashing. I’ve actually stopped using it for the most part because of these issues. It at least doesn’t crash on my new iphone.

4. 2/5Always out of date . . .

   I keep getting notifications of new posts in watched forums or threads and they are years old and no new posts. Before I realized this I took it for granted that what and where I was being directed to was correct. That was until I started getting called out for replying to old threads that were either solved or just old. I'd mention that it was Tapatalk that brought me there saying that there was a new post. Others started noticing that this was happening to them also. Just now I got notification that there was a new post in a 10 year old thread. I looked around and there wasn't one. I've looked and there aren't many settings for "time". But the one I found I set to what one would expect to fix the problem, but it doesn't. I love the way Tapatalk consolidates all your subscriptions, but hate using it knowing that 98% of the notifications are wrong.

5. 1/5Yet another step backwards

   Yet another update that has added nothing of value and retains all of the faults and shortcomings of previous versions: The "reply" is now the "quote" button. Change for the sake of change. Thread view is still centered on the iPad. Not only does this waste valuable screen real estate but it makes browsing more difficult by eliminating the split screen of earlier versions. Now you must repeatedly return to the previous screen just to view other topics rather than having them constantly present to the left of the current thread. And this was done without the benefit of a full screen view! The continuous "page" in thread view introduced a couple updates ago was also a huge step backwards. Ads continue to get more intrusive (who thought that was even possible?!?) It repeatedly prompts me to log in to my most viewed forum even though I've never logged out — and then returns an error message when I try. And this "modern" app still cannot do what could be done in any web browser 20 years ago! Bottom line is, as easy as it is to browse forums in the app, it is still no match for a web browser. Inexcusably, even such a basic feature as text formatting (bold, italic, etc.) is not included so it's back to Safari for all but the simplest replies. I'm seeing less and less reason to use Tapatalk. I will certainly NEVER pay for it!
