5/5Hands down best for east coast U.S.
After years of being disappointed by magic seaweed and then forced to the awful Surfline. Somehow I stumbled upon Surf Captain and never looked back. The other companies seem to care less about the East coast but it seems Surf Capt. had it dialed in. Completely reliable, incredibly easy to use and my hands down favorite surf app. I never second guess it, I don’t look elsewhere to confirm. I plan my weekly surfing based off this app 100% of the time. Love it!!!!

5/5Forecasting Made Easy
I use surf apps to assist in forecasting conditions prior to diving. I really liked MSW before it became Surfline, which I don’t find as user friendly. I’ve also been using Swell Info, but it was bought out and doesn’t work half the time anymore. On the lookout for other apps, I found Surf Captain. I see this app as a combo between the old MSW and current Swell Info, a wish come true. Thank you Surf Captain!

Love the app. Would you guys be able to add historical forecast data? Would be nice for my notes to see what the condition reports were on past days I surfed.

Surf Captain is a fantastic and simple app that fills the shoes left by MSW. The team at Surf Captain really knows what they are doing and are more qualified to provide their service - simple and accurate surf forecasting - than any other team out there. With this app there isn’t any funny business, over-hype, over-calling, weird color scales, or purposeful forecast tampering. It’s simple call-it-as-it-is surf forecasting at a great price.

1/5Very disappointing
I was temporarily blocked simply because I used the service too often. The chief captain even admits the block is meant to encourage users to subscribe to Surf Captain Pro. I understand the need for a paid subscription, but restricting loyal users’ access as a sales tactic feels unfair. A better approach would be to offer features that make people want to upgrade, not force them into it. Because of this, I don’t recommend this app.

NEW FEATURE: We've added a history mode for the Forecast Details section. View the forecast details starting back to Jan 1, 2025. This is great for reviewing the swell details for great surf sessions you've had in the past. UPDATES: We've made the sign in process much better by limiting the re sign-in process and reminding you your last sign in method (email, google, apple, or facebook). Also, for users with multiple accounts, we've added some notifications to allow merging accounts where needed to make sure subscriptions are loaded on your account properly. We are continually improving Surf Captain, so turn on app store automatic updates to automatically get the latest Surf Captain version.
