5/5Nevermind transparency, get price certainty!
So I have been using the Bind app for a couple of years. I don’t think I can ever go back to the price uncertainty of other plans. What you see before a visit is what you get billed after! No surprises. Thank you!!! I also like that I can see options and how to save money if I go somewhere else. Please integrate pharmacy info. I know it is not fair to expect my drug plan to be as cool as this, but it sure would be nice.

1/5Copay $15 then surprised that it becomes $80
Copay $15 then surprised that it becomes $80 after I have gone to facility 5-6 times. I was first happy that I could see the prices for services at different facilities. I did this for physical therapy finding a facility with $15 copay. I confirmed $15 copay with PT as well. I went there many times then found out the price was actually $80. Surest claims the app stated the price as $80 but I know what I saw. I just did not take a screen shot. Too bad for me and now I had to pay about $900 instead of $150. Don’t trust the app. Take screen shots and call them. The facilities don’t know copays either. Appeals process are not understanding. FYI my appeal was denied. Response: I still stand by what I said earlier. I agree call surest before you go. The facilities may not know what the copay is. Look at the explanation of benefits and call surest asap if there are discrepancies. I have not used app in a while. Hopefully, they have made improvements. I would always check things because appeal will likely be unfavorable as in my situation despite the known problems they have with the app.

3/5Help doesn’t work in App
I have had Surest for about 4 years and generally okay except that every single provider never bills my “zero $ copay” right and causes billing issues… super annoying and now and this new year the App will glitch out when I try to click the help option. I had a new member ID this New Year and had to uninstall and reinstall the app just for it to recognize the new employer information. Hence why I tried clicking help and obviously no luck. I hate calling because the app was usually so useful but it seems recently there are more issues than ever. Please address the app issues because it’s frustrating!

2/5Useless app that is just a data grab
I seriously hate this app. I have had this insurance and app for 3 years. I actually save money - because I avoid going to the darn doctor because this whole insurance plan is so frustrating. It’s great if you never need anything done - but good grief try to find a headache specialist on this app. Sure, you can find a neurologist - but you literally have to call every single neurologist listed to find one that specializes in headaches. Or try to find a hand surgeon. Nope - it’s going to show you every orthopedic doctor. Spine surgeons, knee surgeons, etc. same thing, you have to call every doctor in the list to see if you can find a hand surgeon. There are also numerous doctors that do not have phone numbers to even contact them at. That’s why I believe this is a useless app and is nothing more than a data grab. My insurance company has no reason at all to know my internet search history, access to my contacts stored in my phone, or any of the other information that they are taking anytime you pick up your phone. Deleting the app.

2/5Information is not accurate, often outdated
In theory, the idea behind upfront knowledge of procedure and visit costs is great. But a combination of poor app and website navigability and outdated information makes this very difficult to ascertain the offerings for a specific procedure. For example, if I want to schedule an MRI for the minimum copay, I can bring up a map of locations and the associated price. However, some locations returned are inaccurate, i.e. there is no provider there or it is the corporate location of the provider. This is a fundamental flaw given that location is tied directly to price of procedure for Surest. Given that location is tied directly to price, if the provider is a network of locations and has availability at another location, the price may be different which is frustrating. Not sure if surest can unify prices across a network since it is probably part of their negotiation but at least they can show all associated locations in a network so you can get a readout on price by location.
