2. 1/5Unable to sell

   2 years ago I bought 60 shares of a business, it has now gone up around 25% yet my shares remain at the same price as when I bought them. And after emailing them they said I could sell my shares (again without any of my profits, because who knows where those went) but only if I purchased their $275 a year membership. Yup that’s right you are forbidden from selling your shares unless you get their premium subscription. Based on most reviews its hard for me to believe this company is a complete scam but I definitely got ripped off of my investment and it has been a several month long issue to try to figure out how to sell my stocks and get away from this horrible company.

3. 4/5Couldn’t combine accounts

   I love most aspects of this app and investment start up companies. However, I had to change my email and can no longer access my original account. I reached out to try to change the original email that I opened my account and unfortunately, I never received any response on how to do this. I used the same social security number and at least I can continue to invest but still unsure how to see my original investments. They should have an easy way to access accounts and change information when needed.

4. 5/5Excellent Way to Lose Money

   If you want a quick way to burn some cash without hope of ever making a profit, invest with Start Engine. This is not a legitimate company. Definitely not a true securities company, which I understood going in. It’s a crowd funding company like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Go Fund Me. I invested in Start Engine early in their startup thinking it might be an interesting new method to invest in pre IPO companies. After five years none of the companies have gone IPO. So I finally gave up. I tried to divest and close my account. Nope. In order to close my account I have to sell my shares. Sell my shares? Purchase a nearly $300 membership. Strange but ok. Sell my shares. Nope, only specific companies are available to trade on the market. Close my account. Purchase a membership. I asked to delete my data. Purchase a membership. I said keep the money, I don’t need it. Sorry you need to divest. Which, guess what I need to do? Sell my shares which requires… Purchase a membership. Luckily I was suspicious from the beginning because of who started the company so I only lost a few grand. Do yourself a favor and invest in a fiduciary.

   I do really love the app and Startengine for the access it is providing and the Venture Club bonus shares. I am investing over $20k per year which makes me feel like the extra shares are more than paying for the annual fee. I appreciate Kevin for his endorsement and investment in Startengine and I look forward to the great things we will see here in the future. Thank you for helping bring this to life Mr. Marks.    Buyer be beware! There seems to be a pattern of suspicious behavior by SartEngine. After years of investing, I couldn't move my shares coupled with cancelled or dissolved investments. The government needs to investigate this company. Something isn't right.

   very slow response. my account has been frozen for over 6 weeks now. wrote to customer service in early June. still, they have not resolved it. also, they charged me for selling shares for transfer fees. couple of months. that transaction is still not completed. it is like consumer fraud, charging and not completing a transaction over 30 days.
