1. 5/5Great until it became an Expensive paperweight

   Edit to add an Update!! I finally received an email back and my account was reset. I changed my review to 5 stars bc it is an excellent internet service. I’ve had starlink for about a year now and everything was going great. I recently got married so my husband joined my phone plan (which resulted new phone/ new number for him) and I changed my name at my bank so that resulted in a new card being issued. His number/ my bank card was being used for the starlink account. Guess what that means?? We can’t access our starlink account due to the required 2 part authentication. We know the password but we can’t get the authenticator number since he has a new number. You can’t call or communicate with ANYONE to get this fixed. I have sent emails and things through their website with zero response for WEEKS!! I know that my starlink bill is past due and I can’t pay it due to not being able to access my account to add my new card info! I have sent them tons of info thinking they would help me get into my account and they NEVER respond. They have ZERO customer service numbers. You can’t contact anyone. So now I have an expensive paperweight once it disconnects. The service is great as long as you never get locked out of your account.

   I live in an area where high speed internet is done via satellites. We tried numerous companies and the data was not reliable, buffered all of the time and was horribly expensive. We purchased the starlink set up and actually danced once it was installed because we were so pleased with the connectivity. Fast forward to today and my service has dropped about 7 times since install but the issues were caused by weather and a lot of snow. The longest outage we have encountered was roughly 10 minutes but we also received 2 feet of snow that day. I cannot tell you how pleased we are to have this service. Our experience, 100$ a month cheaper, no outages for extended periods of time and fast downloads. We don’t experience any buffering when streaming videos and movies. I recommend this setup to everyone I meet that complains about rural internet availability. We recently had high speed cable internet brought down our road and this service works so well that we will not switch. They only offer good deals when bundled and change prices once your “trial” period is over. We had the cable internet in the past and it didn’t work as well as starlink. The company and people setting all of this up are amazing! A fantastic product and service!

   I had to move to finish school and the only viable property I could rent to put my camper did not have cable internet available. The signal and cost of using something like cellular internet made that not viable. So I thought I’d try starlink but was skeptical. It’s 100% exceeded my expectations in every way. The speeds I get are just under what I got for non-fiber link cable but most impressively the latency is almost identical and even less than some of the cable internet I’ve had. I thought I wouldn’t be able to play online while using it but it’s not the case. It’s competitively responsive and a few days in I’ve had no cutouts. I’m in the middle of a snow storm currently and it’s not hampered it at all. I haven’t even had to clean it off it just automatically started heating itself and melts the snow off. Also setting it up was stupid easy. Just secured the dish on the roof and plugged it in, done. It literally turns itself to get the best signal. This is technically the review for the app lol which is also very user formerly and easy to use. You can control the dish from it without ever having to go up to your unit. Overall I 1000% recommend for anyone. It’s so good that it’s honestly worth considering over any internet short of fiber connected cable. At 120 a month for unlimited service, for residential, it’s well worth the money.

   When your local Internet provider has a failure, you will be without Internet for likely a few hours. When Starlink equipment fails, and it will fail, generally within less than one calendar year. You will be without Internet for at least a week, probably longer. Customer service response alone will be several days, then add in at least a week of shipping to get your replacement equipment to you. Add on top of that constant lag in signal and Internet quality dependent upon clear weather and suddenly the novelty of satellite Internet wears off quickly. In my case, I will be without for 6 to 7 weeks and they cannot even pause my billing. If I do not want to be charged for that period without service, I would need to completely cancel my account and restart again later. If you look at the individual this organization is centered around, you will realize that he is a fraudster, and right wing extremist. Starlink fits right in with that persona of making promises that you can’t keep, blaming anyone and everyone else for your inadequacies and still charging too much with a straight face. Starlink would be pretty darn neat-o, if it worked properly, did not fail quickly, and had actual customer service that served the customer instead of hyping up something that has more faults and failures than successes. The service is slow, weather dependent, not there for you if you need it, too expensive and prone to failure. Shame on you Starlink, you have the resources to do better but choose not to, this will ultimately be your downfall.

5. 5/5Best Commercially Available ISP

   We’ve had a number of ISPs over the last decade. Everything from traditional cable providers, fiber optic, satellite, and cellular based services from AT&T and Verizon simultaneously for five years. Waited for Starlink to become available in my area and once the price point became more bearable, we made the switch. The first day of using Starlink made me regret not obtaining the system sooner - it was evident this was far superior to other ISP previously used. Travelled to 12 states since acquiring the standard setup and have been able to obtain very fast and reliable connections in some of the most remote locations from Washington to Montana to California to Colorado and all of the states in between. I pack the large antenna, modem, and power supply and ensure it comes with me on flights to Louisiana where we live in an area where cable services are not an option. This system exceeds all expectations and comfortably handles about 15 devices from smart TVs to iPads to personal and company laptops. Highly recommend and rest assured this is the way to go if you’re on the fence. Disclaimer: if there is no way to get a clear view of the sky due to a thick canopy, it will not work. My solution at home was to place the antenna on the peak of my roof which is about 25 feet above the ground but still 25-30 feet short of the closest trees. The system will optimize itself over time so give in a day or two if you’re not getting the service you expect. Huge success and superior system.
