  1. 5/5For Coach and student Sportsbox has it all!

As a coach, I have been looking for one stop shopping for myself and my students for quite a few years and I have been so grateful that Sportsbox has come along and helped me become a better professional and helped my students achieve more quickly. Many may not see the value of 3-D analysis, but it is a game changer and to be able to just point and shoot on my phone then do an analysis with drawing tools, 3-D, and being able to put in ranges with a voiceover, helps the student learn more quickly, and gives me the ability to change patterns more rapidly as well. This truly is revolutionary, and it only gets better I love the capability of interacting with students in the message box and also being able to post sessions and they can leave comments back. The student is being served at the highest level both in communication and in technology. Oh, I enjoy the inbox because it stops the student from texting me and creates a situation where we can interact and everything is documented and saved. This is a wonderful teacher because we can go back and look at the past and show progression. As a coach if you’re not using Sportsbox, it’s probably time to jump on and use. If you are a student of the game, there is also a consumer version where you can auto shoot your swings and get connected with a coach. I can help you interpret the data and help you move more quickly through your journey. I can’t wait to see the future of what Sportsbox will have to offer both me as a coach and also the students.

  2. 5/5Incredible

As a golf nerd who currently does not have the time or the money for a golf coach, I’ve struggled the past couple of years to really understand my swing and where it was improving. I have subscribed to many golf coach’s online courses in that time, and while valuable learning experiences, felt that the small snippets I received on my swing weren’t doing the trick. I would often get off in the weeds trying the split hairs when there was larger things to address. I chalk all this up to not being able get any meaningful measurements or data from 2D video. Sportsbox AI has completely changed that. As a computer science student I was incredibly intrigued with the idea of using such a powerful data analysis tool that AI is to solve a golf problem, and it delivers. Being able to take accurate measurements without something insanely expensive and rare as the Gears system, and for only $15 a month, is unbelievable. Within a couple minutes I can have tons of data and see if my “feels” really are matching my “reals”. In only a couple weeks I have made huge gains in areas I’ve struggled with for 3 years. I will said as a side note, if you aren’t a golf coach, working with a coach, or a total golf nerd, you should probably get a coach before you consider this app. This is not beginner friendly info. All of this data is meaningless unless you understand the cause and effect relationships and how matchups work. However, if you are fairly knowledgeable on the golf swing then this is an invaluable tool and worth every penny. This app’s ability to bring this level of data on such a user friendly platform has the ability to change golf instruction, and golf itself in a very, very big way.

  3. 5/5The best golf teacher, right in my pocket!

I’m a very visual learner. I’ve spent thousands of dollars with different instructors thinking I’ll eventually find “the one” whose teaching style resonates with how I learn. When I met my current instructor who uses Sportsbox with her students, I realized it’s not just about the instructor, but their tools. The app was a game changer for me and my handicap. IMO, teaching students by asking them to “feel” this and “imagine” that is outdated and NOT. HELPFUL. AT. ALL. It’s like a grandma saying “just use however much salt feels right” - a recipe for disaster. I’m not a pro who’s super in tune with every little muscle and movement, and I can’t change what I’m doing if I don’t know what I look like. Sportsbox shows me exactly what I look like from all the different angles AND quantifies adjustments so I can correlate the changes I’m making in my swing with the changes in ball flight. Best part is I can refer back to recordings to track progress over time. Every modern instructor should incorporate Sportsbox into their teaching, and every golfer who’s serious about *actually* improving should find an instructor who’s trained on the app. You’ll get SO much more out of your lessons and practice sessions in between.

  4. 5/5Disrupting Instruction

Sportsbox has come along way since beta, and their app is really helpful during lessons. Measuring body data really highlights and emphasizes students’ areas of improvements. As a coach, the app has helped me: - Validate my thesis on the students “why” (I.e why are they slicing, hooking, extending, etc.) - Identify specific areas of opportunity - Develop a path for improvement in step-by-step fashion vs. trying to solve the entire swing They’re also creating a more social feel to the app which helps develop rapport with your students to do constant check-ins, measure and analyze swings on the fly, which helps create efficiency for both student and teacher. For students/consumers, it’s really cool to see the different views/angles of your swing, such as above view (to measure turn numbers like opening pelvis and chest). App development is hard, so releasing new features takes time and research. The app can be buggy and crash, but they are building really cool features on their roadmap such as their DTL view (measuring thrust e.g. early extension and hand depth). They have all the knowledgeable people on the team to execute but it takes time. This does not replace Trackman, Foresight, etc. but body measurement and Sportsbox is supplemental to building a long lasting swing. Highly recommend!

  5. 2/5To good to be true

As a mini tour player I’ve used some of the top 3d swing technology with coaches, where you have to wear full suits that track and analyze every part of your swing or systems that use cameras 360 degrees all around you to capture all aspects of your swing. To think a single front facing camera can get you that kind of data or close to it seemed impossible but amazing and groundbreaking if could actually do that. So after a month of testing it out I can say unfortunately it is too good to be true. Now this other equipment cost upwards of $10,000 so to think a simple app could do the same for $15 or $20 a month is pure fantasy. It’s cool that’s for sure being able to look at your swing from every angle but the big problem is the data just isn’t accurate. I tested different hip tilt angles and being extremely open or closed at impact and would regularly get conflicting data compared to high end tech. The problem with that is it can potentially do more harm then good when it’s telling you your hips need to be more open or closed at impact when you don’t need to be. The app is definitely cool and I’m sure someday we will have the technology to make that $10,000 technology accessible to everyone on their phone with a simple app but as of right now that just doesn’t exist
