1. 5/5A Dream!

   I have been searching high and low for a way to get rid of reels from social media! I think it is the downfall of our society and it shortens our attention span. In a world where we have so much innovation and technology, I don’t think I will ever teach my kids how to use reels so why would I use it myself? This product has worked exactly like it marketed! And even though it uses the social media‘s website to gain access, it runs smoother than the normal browser would, acting as if you are actually on the app! Which is one of my favorite features! I also love that even if you have the free account, you can still use it. It’s just not as convenient. Which in some ways is even better for those of us who are trying to kick the habit of social media altogether! One thing that really stood out to me was when I open a reel someone sent me, I immediately thought “oh well I could just scroll down and find reels from here.” Wrong! They take you right back to chat! They really did think of everything. Using this as me and my husband step into this next stage of life as parents and who we want to be. Even the opening that shows you how much time you spend on reels or social media altogether is so eye-opening. I recommend for anybody who wants to get their life together. five stars for me.

2. 3/5Great potential, not quite there yet

   As a tattoo artist who relies on Instagram to conduct my business, this app is so much closer to meeting my needs than any other screen time management service I’ve tried. Other services block the app entirely when I’m not using it, causing me to miss messages from clients. Socialite is addressing what’s actually addictive and unnecessary about Instagram: ads and reels. That being said, there are still a number of things that would need to change about Socialite before I would subscribe to a pro membership. If I were a casual Instagram user who didn’t need to regularly post content for my business, this would be a slam dunk. However, Socialite is currently too rough around the edges for me to do anything besides answer the occasional DM and scroll through my feed a bit. If I want to upload a story or a post, I need to go to real Instagram for that. Also, when I had app blocking on, I wasn’t receiving any DM notifications, which caused me to miss clients’ messages. This service really is a brilliant idea, and I hope that it continues to evolve. I hate how much time I was wasting watching reels, and socialite immediately helped me reclaim my free time. If they can get the proxy Instagram to work more like actual Instagram with all its features, this will literally change so many creators’ lives. (Specific features that are missing include uploading videos to posts and story, close friends story, zooming/editing photos before posting, push notifications)

3. 5/5Highly recommend! Few bugs but totally worth it!

   As for most people who downloaded this app, I’ve also been on a search for a way to block short form content. Unfortunately, the only way was to either practice abstinence or completely delete all of the apps. But this app is geniunely fantastic! Considering it’s just the 1st version, and factoring in how quickly these guys even released the app, some bugs are excusable. The software can be a little slow, and for me (iPhone16) the DMs don’t seem to work— after opening someone’s chat, it never loads in for me to actually send any kind of message. It also doesn’t permit me to message anyone new (prior to downloading SocialLite. I have to first go on my regular Instagram app, message someone there, so a new chat gets created for them, and then hop back over. But still can’t send any DMs through SL). And this app is FREE (with premium options, but it’s literally only 3.99 a month and not required for a great experience) which is such a rare word to see nowadays. Totally worth the download.

4. 4/5Great except one issue/bug

   This is something I’ve looking to find in an app and finally, someone has accomplished this. Thank the Lord! Obviously, the app is still working out some things and I was aware of this by looking at the highlights presented by their Instagram so I’m aware I’m limited on a lot of the things due to this. That’s why I’ve made it so I can just use the actual Instagram app for those specifics reasons rather than getting rid of the SocialLite app altogether. But, an issue I’m noticing with the Instagram app through SocialLite is the fact that I can’t see the left side of my screen for the Instagram app and only for the Instagram app. It’s, as if, the interface of the app isn’t centered and instead, seems to be aligned a little far to the left, covering what I would originally see on the left side. To see what I’m trying to see, I have to pull the left side of the screen to the right, as if I’m trying to swipe to a new screen altogether. I can’t see my right side either. It’s, as if, the interface of the whole app through SocialLite is too zoomed in or something, covering up what you would normally see on the regular app. Hopefully this can be fixed or if this is something I need to do so I can fix it.

5. 5/5THE APP!

   I don’t ever write reviews. I find them to be a waste of time, but for this app, I just have too. As a teenager, social media is a big part of my life. Not just the scrolling but it’s how I see my friend’s lives, how I stay updated on pop culture, find new and exciting ideas, and more. I tried quitting social media back in November and it worked for a couple months, but eventually I wanted to see my friends post, and catch up on things i’ve missed. But with that comes endless doom scrolling. I HATE that it takes hours of my day and ultimately ruins some experiences. A friend told me about this app (aka Social Lite) that has changed how he uses social media. I decided to give it a go and the way it immediately impacted my day was insane. I love it so much. I can stay caught up on everything happening, still get to see my friend’s posts, but without the addictive act of scrolling. I highly recommend this app to anyone who’s tired of giving hours to social media, but still want to stay connected.
