5/5Excellent skill builder app
I came across this app when I signed up for skill share app didn’t do anything with it but recently I’ve been spending more time on this app and been learning a lot and having fun while doing it can’t say that about a lot of things learning and having fun while doing it that’s definitely a first for me and I’m glad that I came across this app and I definitely recommend recommended to people who might not have a lot of time on their hands, especially not a lot all at once, but are interested in learning every day skills conversational skills were just brushing up on life skills in small increments and having a smile on your face while doing it thank you to the developers of this app

2/5Not worth the subscription cost
I took a gamble on this app after seeing some very promising ads on Instagram. I’ve been wanting to work on my communication skills, specifically when it comes to conflict resolution and confrontation. So I spent $16 and started right away. The first lessons in the communications journey seemed extremely basic, and all the lessons so far have been multiple choice, which I don’t find to be helpful practice as it’s always extremely obvious what the “right” answer is when compared to the other two options. I saw some content further ahead that seemed really helpful so I figured I’d push through and hope it got to the meatier stuff. But after having the app for only a day and a half I’ve already run out of available lessons? They’ve developed less than four lessons in total in that journey so far over SIX months (according to the app version history), and only have 10 planned in total. So even if all the planned content was available from the start, I’d be done with the communication skillset in less than two weeks tops. It is completely unreasonable to be charging $16/month subscriptions at this point in development. I was hopeful this app could help my professional growth, but unless they start releasing a lot of higher quality content very quickly, I’ll be cancelling before the next subscription cycle begins.

1/5Misleading Free Trial
App claims they will send you a reminder email before the free trial is up...that email never came, resulting in being charged for a subscription I didn't want. Now I get to wait on a refund request. And yes, I checked my spam folder, no email was found. As for the content itself, it's extremely basic, and maybe I was just in the wrong module, but all the examples were focused on work communication, and no personal communication examples were presented. Lastly, the conversational "practice" exercises drop you into a text message interface, but it's still multiple choice...you don't get to type out anything. Despite your answers being ready in advance, the "responses" from the system play a little loading animation, as if the person was typing out a reply, resulting in a wait time of 1-2 seconds. I bet the that decision was made to "simulate" that you were actually texting someone, but, to me, it makes the app feel slow and clunky as all those seconds add up.

3/5Great Concept, Needs More Context and Cleaner Writing
I love the idea behind Skillsta: using real-life conversations to help improve tone and communication. But there are two major issues that need fixing: 1. Not enough context in scenarios. The app often asks you to choose the “best” response without giving enough detail about the relationship, tone, or setting. For example, one prompt asked how to respond when a friend named Eileen wants to tell you a story, but you’re out of time. The options were “Honey,” “Dear,” or “Eileen”—but “Eileen” was marked wrong for being too abrupt. That only makes sense if you assume a super specific kind of friendship, and not everyone is comfortable using terms like “honey” or “dear.” It’s hard to answer correctly when the app doesn’t tell you who you are to the other person. 2. Grammar and word choice errors. Some of the language is off. One question ended with “Let’s buy you something for moral damages,” which is probably meant to be “morale damages”—but either way, it’s a weird joke to make after a serious conversation about overspending. These kinds of errors make the app feel less polished and can undercut trust in the lessons. I’m still rooting for Skillsta (it’s a smart tool with a lot of potential) but it needs better copy-editing and clearer scenarios to really shine.

1/5Can’t use with signing up for a trial.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that I cannot use this app with committing to the trial. While yes it’s free and you all will remind me, life gets in the way and I DO NOT want to take that chance. Some features should be available as a test run then you can start bombarding me with pop up for a discount. I don’t even truly know what your app does for me before making ANY kind of commitment, small or large. I don’t usually take time to write reviews but this got me so mad. I took that data collecting quiz, signed up to only be held hostage by a pop up offering 78% off. You all should take a page from Rosebud. Their subscription is $107 and because they showed value via the lower tiered option and I saw value it will be moving forward with their app. While I wasn’t able to try out EVERYTHING in the app due to some stuff being behind a paywall, what was free was tantalizing enough for me to open my coin purse. Do better!!!
