  1. 5/5Apple Watch + ski tracks worth it.

Ski Tracks is the kind of iOS app that quietly becomes part of your ski routine because it does exactly what you want without getting in the way. Paired with Apple Watch, it turns your day on the mountain into a clean, satisfying logbook: start a session, ski like normal, and later you get a well-organized summary that makes the day feel “counted” in a way resort apps rarely do. The best part is the presentation. After you stop tracking, Ski Tracks lays out your day in a way that’s easy to scan and genuinely fun to revisit: vertical, speed stats, distance, number of runs, total time, and a map you can scrub through to remember where you spent the most time. It’s not trying to be a social network or a complicated training dashboard. It’s a focused tracker with a polished interface, and that restraint is a strength. Apple Watch support is where it really clicks. Being able to control tracking from your wrist is perfect when you’re wearing gloves, carrying gear, or just don’t want to pull out your phone on the lift. During the day, quick glances at your stats feel natural rather than distracting. Afterward, the data syncs into a cohesive session history that’s great for comparing days across a season.

  2. 5/5Great app

I’ve been using this for 4-5 years and really like it. It is set and forget. You just turn it on, throw your phone in your pocket or backpack and off you go. Not sure how the iPhone gets such a good GOS signal when not out in the open, but it seems to work all the time. I haven’t done much with it other than check my stats at the end of the day and see what we did. It’s really cool to know how much vertical and how many miles you've traveled. There’s more to it than that; you can store photos. It seems to be pretty accurate as far as mph, distances, showing your exact route, etc. but hard to say because there’s now way for me to verify the data with another tool. Request for developer: It would be really great to have a picture page in the app that shows all of the pictures from the runs and you simply my scroll down the page through the pics and click on a pic to review that track. This way, if you remember a great feature on a mountain you can snap a pic of it in the app and easily use ski tracks later on to help find the exact run that got you there. People would love this if done with a slick interface.

  3. 1/5Loyal User Abandoned by New Ownership

I've been a dedicated Ski Tracks user for years. I paid for this app, used it faithfully every season, and recommended it to fellow skiers and snowboarders without hesitation. It was simple, reliable, and did exactly what it promised. That version of Ski Tracks is gone. New ownership has rolled out a $50/year subscription model, and the experience now is nothing short of a shakedown. Open the app and you're immediately greeted with subscription prompts. Try to access stats you've used for years — total vertical, speed breakdowns, run counts — and you hit a wall: "This is a Premium Feature." What used to be the core value of the app is now locked behind an annual fee that rivals full-featured fitness platforms with far broader capabilities. Here's what's most frustrating: I'm not opposed to paying to support an app I use regularly. If new ownership came in and said, "We're charging a modest annual fee to maintain and improve the app," I'd consider it. But $50 per year for features I already paid for? That's not a business model — that's a betrayal of your existing user base. There is zero acknowledgment of legacy users who supported this app for years. No grandfather pricing. No discount. No goodwill. Just an aggressive, unapologetic paywall where a clean tracking experience used to be. Thanks, new ownership. You've successfully turned a five-star app into a one-star experience. I'll be moving to a competitor that actually respects the people who made the app successful in the first place.

  4. 5/5Meets My Expectations

I have always wondered how fast I was going down the mountain. Now I know! It was also fun to “replay” my day. This app met my expectations of a GPS tracker. Thank you for not having any in app purchases like your competitors. There is absolutely no justification to do that for an app like this. If there was one thing I would like to see added, it would be the ability to edit a Track after saving it. While using it the first time, I forgot to pause the app when I got on a shuttle to go from one Ski area to another (Loveland Ski Area in Colorado has two areas that are accessible by shuttle) so the app recorded my ride in the shuttle. I could also see myself forgetting to stop recording only to remember on the drive home.

  5. 4/5Worth the few bucks

If you’re like me and ski/snowboard several + times a year, then I’d def recommend you buy this app. It tracks and saves personal stats (speed, # of runs, vertical, etc) from you’re day on the slopes. It’s not a super sophisticated app, but rather a simple app that makes it fun to see how you didn’t the end of the day. It’s easy to use. All I do is hit the Play button (start button) when I first arrive, and then it just runs and records in the background while I listen to music and enjoy the mountain. At lunch, I’ll hit the Pause button, and then will hit play again when I head back out. At the end of the day, you press the stop button, and save it. Once saved, I’ll then review my stats from the day, and will compare them to previous days and/or previous ski trips that I saved to see how I did. It’s also fun to compare your stats with your friends to see who had the fastest speed, or the highest vertical, etc. It’s also neat to review your trail map for the day, which shows each of your runs highlighted, and numbered so you can see where you went around the mountain that day (can also review any previously recorded day). There may be better apps out there for recording/tracking your day’s ski stats (and other stuff perhaps), but if you’re just interested in reviewing your basic stats from that day, then you’ll be happy you purchased Ski Tracks. Hope this helps someone, and you find it worth it like I do.
