5/5Great app besides two very minor details
I love this app and spend hours upon hours every day reading from the broad selection of manga. The only downside is that while bingeing, I always have to hit read next and wait for the screen to flip. If the producers of this app could make it so that you could binge more easily without as long of a, or no, pause. Whenever I have to go to the next chapter I have to press “read next” which makes sense but the screen always glitches and flips which makes it so that I have to wait longer to keep reading. My other problem with this app is fact that there isn’t a screen lock so that whatever your screen angle is at, you can maintain one angle. I often read while laying down and like to put my screen to the side but am constantly hafting to put my screen back into a different position and when you use the phones “Lock Screen” feature, it positions the screen in portrait (horizontal) position and I prefer landscape (lateral) position. If in the menu pop up that appears when you click the screen once the was a little lock button where you could lock the screen regardless of what position your actual device was in, then that would make late night reading much more convenient for a side layer like myself. Like I said earlier, this is a great app and I love the low subscription price, but I would really like it if you could consider my suggestions.

5/5Overall Very good app, but 3 small problems
1. I am a somewhat fast reader, and I read manga for hours and hours on end, but there is a limited amount of chapters that you can read every day. Yesterday, I downloaded the app and immediately started reading One Piece, and I read for a solid 4-5 hours straight, (yes I know, I don’t touch grass) and then I tried to go to the next chapter, and then a notification came up and said something along the lines of this: “ you have reached the limit of 100 chapters, this will will reset later, check back here in about 15 hours.” So that was pretty disappointing. So if you guys are going to do that, at least make a Shonen Jump plus subscription that costs slightly more where the amount of chapters per day you can read is unlimited, or a significant amount more. 2. I read on my IPhone mostly, so I need to turn it horizontal, and whenever I finish a chapter, it takes a solid 5-10 seconds just to get to the next chapter, because I need to turn my phone vertically to press the “read” button, then turn it again back to horizontal, and then wait 5 seconds for it to load. This isn't a big problem, its just inconvenient for mobile users. So maybe whenever the chapter ends, the screen could stay horizontal, so it is slightly more convenient. 3. You have to read by chapters for some reason, why cant I read the entire volume instead? it takes would save so much time for the readers, and the 2nd problem wouldn't even be as big of an inconvenience, but no, we have to pay $6.00 just for one volume, just for one series, (One Piece for example) would cost over 600 dollars. Why cant it be free to read by volume? It just doesn’t make much sense to me That being said, I still think this app is still really good overall. But it had some minor inconveniences that could be better.

3/5Good I’m concept but little issues hold it back
The content of this app is great, but it’s lacking so many basic UI features that hold it back. For one, if you’re reading in landscape mode at the end of the chapter it force rotates back to portrait to hit the next chapter button. After hitting the next chapter button you have to physically rotate back to portrait and then back to landscape to go back into reading it 2 pages at a time. Additionally, the next chapter button gets really annoying when you’re binging a series. Why can’t it just flow into the next chapter or auto go to the next chapter if you swipe while on the last page? It gets frustrating having to click the next chapter button especially on larger phones. Lastly, the 100 chapter limit for downloaded manga is fine, but it would be nice to have a “bulk delete” or an option to automatically remove a download after reading it. As is I have to click on each check mark and click confirm for every single chapter I want to remove to make room for new chapters. If those features aren’t available then maybe at least allowing the user to change the 7 day time period to be less time would be helpful as a sort of work around to bulk deleting downloaded manga. Additionally, the website allows for following manga but the app has no place to show which manga you follow. Why is that? Overall I think this app has potential and I will keep using it because the content is good. But the UX could be significantly better. Hence 3/5

4/5Excellent service, but app could use some improvements
Best deal in manga! For a small monthly fee you get access to thousands of chapters legally, and support authors directly! Highly recommended! While service is great, the app itself could use some improvements to the reading experience, specially around weekly chapters. At the end of a chapter, it would be ideal to show the queue instead of random recs. Also, adding a close book to that prompt would save you extra taps. Right now if you want to read weekly chapters from different series, you’ll inevitably swipe beyond the last page, dismiss the recs prompt, tap the page to show the navigation bar, tap to close, then tap the chapter you want to read. This might be fine if you’re reading a volume of manga, but gets old quickly when you’re reading 10+ series every week. The magazine cover is shown cropped. Why can’t I tap that preview banner to see the full cover? We’ve lost that since the switch from the magazine format. Why can’t I access author’s comments in the app (on the side, would be great if you added RSS to your blog, had to make a custom feed myself). On iPad, the continue reading row shows 5 series, but tapping see all shows only 4, which is disappointing use of the larger display. Another suggestion I have is to allow tapping the margins to flip pages, which mirrors other reading apps and e-readers. These are all just suggestions to improve the app experience from a hardcore reader and fan, and none are showstoppers. For anyone still reading, I highly recommend the service, which has been reliable and never failed me before.

3/5Just Okay
Subscription price is reasonable. Very disappointed to be unable to read M-Rated series in app. The web version for M-Rated series is separate and feels much different to use than the app. This defeats the purpose of having a wide library in order to read all of your manga in one place. On top of that, options for browsing are quite limited, no filtering by genre or anything like that except for the few limited categories you see on the front page, so hopefully you already know what you want to read, or at least have somewhere else to find out. The interface doesn’t feel great to use, and switching between chapters feels clunky, ESPECIALLY when going to a previous chapter. Besides that, the selection of manga is pretty good and the translations/extra info on japanese words and culture relevant to the story are good, but scarce. Fan translations tend to include much more and go above and beyond, whereas here it feels like bare minimum. Phones are not an ideal screen to use this app. When reading on most normal size phones, either you can see 1 page at a time and get split images and info, or you can turn it sideways and see both pages, but be unable to read or make out any details. The zoom feature is also too dysfunctional in order to help you out here. Tablets will work better: This is an alright choice in between pirating your manga and purchasing physical copies.

It was amazing coming back to SJ after growing up on Naruto, Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho and One Piece; now Boruto is out and One Piece is still going strong. Thank you VIZ Media <3

very, very little is free. only the first and last three chapters of any series are free. so if you want to read the whole series for free look elsewhere.
