   I have been on 9 cruises before I came across this app. I enjoy seeing those who you are cruising with as you sign in on roll call. I LOVE the excitement and thrill of the countdown! I enjoy seeing everyone’s pictures and how much fun is being had! I think it’s super cool to keep up with your cruises in one place. It’s a great tool that has a wealth of knowledge from past cruisers. It’s very informative with valuable feedback that might help one decide on an excursion to go on. I have used this app for one year. As of now, I will give it a 5 star rating. So far, I haven’t had any issues with it. If I do, I will be back to lend some constructive criticism so the app can improve. I have never seen the point in being ugly when giving a review. If I find something, it will only be because the developers take pride in their work and deserve validation! There was a lot of thought and detail that went into the production of this app. No matter how great something is doesn’t mean it’s without a flaw at times. [This is off subject, but from where I stand, overall, it appears we have become quick to judge and criticize, rather than encourage and validate others efforts, time and energy!] There is certainly the need for feedback and constructive criticism. I find it way more beneficial to voice concerns in a positive way. So developers, thank you for putting in your time and effort to provide cruisers with a tool that is fun and informative! 5 stars!! I look forward to what ideas you have in the future. Rarely does technology stay the same! 😊

2. 5/5Shipmate is the Tool to Use Before you Cruise!

   Shipmate is a great app to use to read reviews from numerous cruisers regarding any ship, any cruise line, venues and options to consider before you set sail. Like any review forum, you need to “sift” through the reviews and weed out what you feel are real versus ones that may be biased. Look through the pictures, read the comments, see what others are say and you be the judge as to what you think is accurate. In most cases you’ll find the truth is a bit of every review. Sometimes bad things happen and it gets noted in review, however in many more cases it is all positive feedback. Take the reviews with a “grain of sand” and consider different points of view. Cruises, like any vacation, are what you make them and you can positively or negatively influence your trip based on what your expectations are. So read them, view the pictures, trust and follow your instincts and you’ll be able to make the right cruise vacation for you!

   The ship was absolutely beautiful. I’ve been on tons of different cruise lines, but I will definitely go back on this one. The food was delicious so much different variety. The entertainment was off the rocks the night entertainment was more than any ship I’ve ever been on, the rooms were always clean The ship was clean, tons of stuff on board to do, Ocean cay was above and beyond the best stop I have ever been on what a beautiful ocean that’s owned by MSC I would do this cruise just to go back there, Only complaints —- The hot tubs on this ship are cold. All of them are cold. I tried everyone. I’m not the only one who stated this everybody. Said the hot tub was cold. The servers by the pool definitely will not ask you if you want something to drink you’ll have to flag them down, so for the most part you have to get up and go get your own drinks, I did tip extra so after a while they did cater to me. I do not like that you have pool towels in your room and you have to keep track of them. Bring them down to the pool bring them back to your room, as other ships I’ve been on have towel Stewart’s by the pools who hand out towels this one does not. Even after leaving the beach and our towels are soaking wet and full of sand. You have to carry them all the way back to your room, they should have a towel swap set up that will take your wet, heavy towels and give you dry ones. I would like better coffee selections, but that’s just me. They do have an espresso machines. But they cannot mimic or make any special specialty coffees.

   There is definitely room for improvement. The photos section is extremely frustrating to try to add additional pictures to will will now ONLY let me take a picture to add it won’t let me add from my phone photos One thing I wish they did was let you review and share the excursion information. It lets you book them but I want to share my review after I have done them and that needs improvement It would also be nice if there was a little more to shipmates so you could search your shipmates and see who would have similar interests that could spark a conversation. As it is now I can see what cruises you have been on and where your from. Bout it. I would rather it have more personal information like what cruise events your interested in, are you traveling as a couple or are you single which would be nice to allow singles to meet on the ship easier or find another couple that may have similar interests. I can see the potential in the shipmates but it has been vastly overlooked and underdeveloped.

5. 5/5Needs Some Work!

   Love the Shipmate App but the developers need to do something about the trolls and people who make nasty comments about others who post just because they don’t like the comment. On some posts it gets completely out of hand and I can easily see you losing a lot of users over nasty people calling others idiot, an asshat, etc. The app shows a minimum age of 4+ years but I would not let my 12 yr old on this app because of the nasty, mean comments. There needs to be a button to report these nasty users. Flagging a post as inappropriate makes the users comment disappear while you are under that post. But if you go back out to the main feed then back into the same post, the comment that was flagged as inappropriate reappears. Posters should also be able to remove mean comments of others replying to their posts and have the ability to block those users after reporting them.

   forced update, now nothing before 2026 can be added. checked 4 different cruises. was working fine before. Was fixed so changed to 5 stars. Excellent.

   Oh great now the widget countdown doesnt work after updating today 7/25/26 its just an empty blue box that I cant even click on anymore. This use to be a great app & have had it for years but now the comment section is way too far down to even access. It becomes hidden by the keypad and covers the area where you can see what youre typing. Will change my review back once fixed!

   I am disappointed with new update! When I met a friend comparing notes about their European Adventure I was unable to see the places they went to in 2025. year wasn't listed. he was unsure of actual date so I couldn't see ports where he stopped. why did you change app when it was working so well!
