Semu Audiobooks is an amazing app that offers audiobooks in Amharic, English, Oromiffa, Tigrigna, Guragigna, and more Ethiopian languages. The books are well-organized by chapters, and you can take notes while listening. It allows you to buy and gift books easily, with great prices and a smooth user experience. Perfect for anyone looking to enjoy diverse Ethiopian literature in audio format.

4/5Perfect Audio Book App
Hello, the Semu app has been great! I’ve only used this on 1 book thus far. A book shows as “free” with subscription. But it’s not really “free” because I need to subscribe to a payment plan and pay a monthly subscription to get the “free” audio book. I don’t read amarigna books often, I pick up a new amarigna book maybe 5 times a year. I read recommended books only for pleasure in between my other readings. I wish this app accommodates subscribers like me who do not read a new amarigna book every week. This app was recommended to me by a book club member. Who like me doesn't read amarigna books often. I did recommend this app to family and friends. Since buying amarigna books isn’t often quick and fast this is an amazing convenience. I love the notifications for new audio book updates as well. Most importantly it’s user friendly and simple to navigate. One thing I noticed is my elderly father had trouble searching for the app I did have to help him and I also thought it was odd the iOS App Store hides this app and it took us a few attempts to find it. Anyway, will be back if I get another book recommendation.

Very clean looking app! And what a noble mission this is. This will push the needle further in increasing accessibility and quality of our art. Thank you to the developers! Edit: Things I’d like to see added are a Now Playing tab or banner, more info on the books such as publication dates and also an ability to rate books. I love this app.

2/5Very encouraging & loads of potential
This app has loads of potential to bring Ethiopian & Eritrean literature to the digital era. Only need to work on availability of audio books, maybe produce audiobooks with better audio quality. Options are still limited & somewhat uninviting & counterintuitive that users are not able to order an audiobook within the app… The latest update keeps the app crashing & mostly it doesn’t even start. It’s buggy & those bugs need to be squashed. THE APP CRASHES BEFORE OPENING.

I love this app for its clean UI and ease of use. I used it when it was first released, and came back to see if it’s worth considering. I loved the increased number of books added. One huge concern, it takes long time to load audio book and play it even in super fast internet connection. I lost confidence to purchase books in this app. Could you please see if there is any bug or issue on loading!? Thank you
