1. 5/5Great and easy to use!

   I like the Self App because it allows me to put “a little” money aside each month, while at the same time I’m building my credit score up some points, to which I desperately needed. My husband retired out of the Army as a 1SG in 2020 during the Covid epidemic and found it hard to find a job with his qualifications beginning in January of 2021. We had bought a new house (our forever home) and things were going “just okay”, but then he started showing signs of early dementia as a result of 3 major TBI’s during combat. Now we are waiting on SSA benefits to kick in and that’s been going on for 1.5yrs. In the meantime, due to lack of “funds” each month, I’ve been having to pay for things like groceries and such as that through credit cards. It’s been a NIGHTMARE and my credit score has taken a HUGE HIT, plus also being able to save money each month for a savings account. Then I found out about Self and my credit score has already gone up 10 points and it’s only been about 6-7 months that I’ve been doing it. Plus, even though it’s not very much money that I’m able to put into it each month, it still makes me feel like I’m achieving something that’s positive for our finances while at the same time I’m regaining control over my credit score. I would definitely recommend trying this app and starting an account for yourself and your household. I’m sure I’m not the only one with a situation similar to this. It doesn’t matter if you can barely do the minimum each time. You have to MAKE yourself do it not just for yourself, but for your family. We all know how important our credit score is and the Self App can surely help get you back in good standing and where you want to be.

   I’ve started since 2022 I was building my first credit score because another places as companies aka Banks didn’t allow or gave me the opportunity to build and to have a foundation to support me to stand on self didn’t judge what I do in don’t have help is help I even tried to start my daughter account at an early age but the app as a age requirement I didn’t know but I did get a benefit from it do to it started her from age 17 credit of 000 to 550 on foundation once she was discharged from the program but I would pray for the company to give kids with the mindset of building an opportunity to be better in life and give them the benefit as chance to grow with app would climax to achieve level of success confidence for patients like me. Too give kids the benefiting chance in early learning stage how to grow to become successful people’ but for me I was able to get the 2000 from it to finish of my program went up to 700 but in between my life took a turn my identity was stolen but I was able to go to IRS blocked everything SSI blocked it their to in sign up back to self and informed them my identity theft issues in worked with my in still was able to builded again and so self is a great company great with communication skills with you at any need help everything you need just ask they answer I love them 😍 in am happy with self hope others get the opportunity like I have in self is still growing it’s foundation for more opportunities credit cards banking business options so hay the better the Mayer I say but try them yourself. I love them 🥰🥰 hope you do as well.

3. 2/5Wouldn’t Recommend

   At first, it seemed like a good idea and I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, but I’m gonna give you the warnings of using this process to build your credit. You have to pay a fee I think 25 and then they also take out an interest percentage out of your payments as well so I think I paid around 600 and got 521 back so it cost me about $100 to use this throughout the time of two years I had a 24 month payment plan to do the credit builder account and it raised my account by 24 points and I know everyone’s is different but once I paid it off, they automatically close the account for me and lowered my score by 39 points so basically I am 15 points lower than when I started even using this app! They also opened a rent and bills one too that I don’t remember opening myself and I once I told him I didn’t want that. They canceled it automatically after me saying that and it hit my credit report for that as well. So be very weary when you go to use this and pay attention to literally everything. I’ve also heard of other people not even getting their money back. I got mine back within 2 1/2 weeks, but I’m very upset at the fact that they close the account and they say they automatically deal with the credit builder account, which is dumb. I think that should be our choice. I spent two years working on this for it to be lower than when I started. I will never use again and I will never recommend!

   This is a great service if you are trying to repair your credit and have already made the changes in your behavior to do so. Nothing comes free. You have to make your payments on time, and you are essentially letting them hold your money in a way. However, for me this has been extremely helpful in accelerating the process of repairing my credit. I have gone up 157 points in a year. Now, not all of that is accredited to this app but it definitely helped. It can essentially add two positive accounts, helping your credit in two important ways; on time payments and debt to credit ratio. Once you sign up and make a couple of payment on time, they generally will offer you a credit card secured by the money you have already paid. This is extremely helpful because if you are looking to use this app, it’s somewhat likely that you can’t get much credit right now. I put a small recurring charge (Netflix) on the card and paid it monthly to help as well. In the meantime, I disputed derogatory marks on my credit and got some of them off. Half way through because of the increases, I was offered a card with a different bank that helped as well. Now, if I want, I can do other things to help my credit further like finance a car, etc. All of these things though, only work if you have already changed the behaviors that got you into trouble in the first place. Otherwise you’ll just miss payments and run up the card and hurt your credit further. If you have made the changes and just need a chance to prove it, this is perfect.

5. 5/5Self is helping me build my credit

   Let me start by saying that I am 36 years old and this is the first time that I see light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to my credit score. I was extremely irresponsible in my 20’s. As soon as I turned 18 I applied and was approved for a couple of department store cards that I managed to rack up hefty balances on and never paid. I worked and paid my rent on time, but all of my other I paid late or not at all. I also had about $18,000 in student loans and about $6000 in hospital bills. Even though I was single and in debt, I became pregnant and gave birth to my beautiful daughter at 21. After she was born, I worked paycheck to paycheck to cover rent, daycare, basic utilities, and whatever my daughter needed. I gave up all hope of paying overdue bills and having good credit. I didn’t check my credit score for 8 years. Fast forward to my daughters 15th birthday and the realization that she would be getting her license and going off to college soon I decided I had better get my but in gear so she could have a good start at life. I checked my credit and began paying off derogatory marks.A lot of what I owed was too old to still be on my credit report. To make a really long story shorter, I had no credit at 36. I began using SELF and after just two payments, my credit score went from 0 to 600. I know that’s not a good score, but it is a start to a much more responsible life. This program has given me hope and inspiration to be a better role model for my daughter so that she doesn’t make the same mistakes I have.

   After a 7 year judgment came off my credit, I was basically starting at ground zero. This was the only company that would approve me for a secured credit card. The thing I absolutely love about this card is that they proactively review your account every few months for a credit line increase. I started with $250 of my own money and now 1.5 years later Im up to $800 (usually goes up about $50-75 each time). With other companies you're usually waiting atleast a year to be reviewed even once.
