5/5Update: fixed!! (App now freezes when searching)
I have been using the app for several years now, and have been loving the app. I have recommended to numerous colleagues and residents I teach. However, the app now seems to hang when using the search function. I believe this has been happening since the most recent update, perhaps last couple of weeks. The search function is honestly the most important function as you don’t have to look through the book like I would have to with a physical copy. So I stopped the subscription before it was time to renew. I’m considering buying the web edition even though it’s more expensive. Hopefully search function doesn’t freeze the app on the web edition. And I hope I can use the web edition as a PWA on my phone. 🤞🏼Hopefully the developers will fix the bug soon! Update: soon after the above review, the issue was fixed. The search function works as well as before. Thank you to the developers for listening!

I used to be a Clinical Laboratory scientist in my premed years and has worked in all the departments. But Microbiology/Infectious Disease, as everybody knows, needs constant research. What you knew 2 weeks ago will be outdated now. That’s why Sanford Guide never left my pocket (before the app age) and thank God it’s easier and faster access now with the app. I know it’s getting more expensive every time I need to renew but I always rely on Tax deduction—hopefully that doesn’t go away with today’s uncertainty. Thank you very much all you contributors for helping us help ALL people in need! Sanford Guide is consistent, concise, up-to-date (not a trademark), and very INDISPENSABLE!

I’ve had the Sanford Guide book for several years, the last two years I decided to purchase through the App Store and everything was fine until a message appear while I was doing some research that says “Your subscription has expired” and I checked in my subscriptions and the invoice and it clearly says I have full access until December 2020, so this clearly a way to make you pay twice and I haven’t received any kind of help. The advices they give doesn’t work. I need you to fix this issue or give me my money back.

I have been an enthusiastic user of your printed & digital publications since medical school. For decades I regularly purchased the handbooks, (& more recently, subscriptions) for my staff as needed, but times have changed. It is an unfortunate reflection of the metastasis of corporate greed, that this company, who’s existence is dependent on filling the need for immediate, reliable, clinical information; would have their central product self-destruct on the subscription expiration date, with no available access whatsoever. Your venerated handbooks never did that. We faithfully carried them them in our breast pockets until they fell apart. (Btw, most of my med/info app don’t do this. They just disclaim that newer data is available with update. We WILL always want the latest version because of its newer clinical information, and upgrade when convenient. ) What if, I were one day past expiration, in a situation (basement, plane, national park, jungle safari clinic) where there’s no reliable internet, needing to look up malaria or tuberculosis treatments, only to find you’ve “locked” my access for fun & profit! Aargh! Come on! Your Handbooks didn’t do that, and they weren’t cheap. Furthermore, I suspect your manufacturing, publishing, distributing and marketing costs were higher back then, compared to your fixed editorial costs. Please tell your profit-mongers to stop locking-down the app on its expiration date, and let access continue, before they find themselves on vacation, bitten by a Komodo dragon, needing to look up broad spectrum antibiotic coverage for a nasty polymicrobial animal bite using an app that’s frozen its data because they insisted on a subscription-timed paywall lock!

This and UpToDate. Best work related apps on my iphone. All the ID fellows use this one at my institution. It's much better than the Hopkins app in that it gives you direct evidence based recommendations based on indication and then, conversely, breaks down each antibiotic and what their primary "recommendation" is as well as what indications they are "approved" for. On top of it all, this is the best most accessible antibiotic biogram I've seen.

The search function is honestly the most important function as you don’t have to look through the book like I would have to with a physical copy. So I stopped the subscription before it was time to renew. I’m considering buying the web edition even though it’s more expensive. Hopefully search function doesn’t freeze the app on the web edition. And I hope I can use the web edition as a PWA on my phone. 🤞🏼Hopefully the developers will fix the bug soon! Update: soon after the above review, the issue was fixed. The search function works as well as before. Thank you to the developers for listening!",

          "body": "I used to be a Clinical Laboratory scientist in my premed years and has worked in all the departments. But Microbiology/Infectious Disease, as everybody knows, needs constant research. What you knew 2 weeks ago will be outdated now. That’s why Sanford Guide never left my pocket (before the app age) and thank God it’s easier and faster access now with the app. I know it’s getting more expensive every time I need to renew but I always rely on Tax deduction—hopefully that doesn’t go away with today’s uncertainty. Thank you very much all you contributors for helping us help ALL people in need! Sanford Guide is consistent, concise, up-to-date (not a trademark), and very INDISPENSABLE!",

          "body": "I have been an enthusiastic user of your printed & digital publications since medical school. For decades I regularly purchased the handbooks, (& more recently, subscriptions) for my staff as needed, but times have changed. It is an unfortunate reflection of the metastasis of corporate greed, that this company, who’s existence is dependent on filling the need for immediate, reliable, clinical information; would have their central product self-destruct on the subscription expiration date, with no available access whatsoever. Your venerated handbooks never did that. We faithfully carried them them in our breast pockets until they fell apart. (Btw, most of my med/info app don’t do this. They just disclaim that newer data is available with update. We WILL always want the latest version because of its newer clinical information, and upgrade when convenient. ) What if, I were one day past expiration, in a situation (basement, plane, national park, jungle safari clinic) where there’s no reliable internet, needing to look up malaria or tuberculosis treatments, only to find you’ve “locked” my access for fun & profit! Aargh! Come on! Your Handbooks didn’t do that, and they weren’t cheap. Furthermore, I suspect your manufacturing, publishing, distributing and marketing costs were higher back then, compared to your fixed editorial costs. Please tell your profit-mongers to stop locking-down the app on its expiration date, and let access continue, before they find themselves on vacation, bitten by a Komodo dragon, needing to look up broad spectrum antibiotic coverage for a nasty polymicrobial animal bite using an app that’s frozen its data because they insisted on a subscription-timed paywall lock!",

It's much better than the Hopkins app in that it gives you direct evidence based recommendations based on indication and then, conversely, breaks down each antibiotic and what their primary \"recommendation\" is as well as what indications they are \"approved\" for. On top of it all, this is the best most accessible antibiotic biogram I've seen.",
