  1. 4/5Overall great, but some bugs

I love having a trainer in my ear telling me it’s okay to take it easy. I wish the voice was more natural. Doing the intermittent running during build phase makes miles feel easy. Content is great as it always cites science. While running I can’t see the whole run schedule and when I pull it up sometimes it skips an interval, I don’t know what I’m accidentally touching to make it do that.

  2. 3/5It’s okay

This app gives some good advice on nutrition, breathing, how to pace yourself and other important strength and mobility exercises. It’s lacking in some key areas though. For instance it’s not like the ads you see on Instagram. The voice coach does not provide you with any milestones or relevant guidance while you’re running until you reach one mile. When you do reach one mile it says the same thing every time and tells you you’re off to a great start. Mile two it tells you that you’re finding your flow, which I find very annoying because by mile two I had already found my flow a long time ago. The voice coach also sounds nothing like the ad. It’s doesn’t sound like a real voice at all. It’s a computer generated voice that reminds me of my old garmin gps from 20 years ago. The lack of milestones is quite annoying also. When it has me doing a 35 minute run I need to know when the halfway point is so I can turn around and go back to where I started since I always run on a trail. So, until the app matches the ads and does what it says then it only gets 3 stars.

  3. 2/5Not for returning or new runners

I’d stay away from this app, it’s a recipe for injury - especially if you’re new, returning, and/or older (basically anyone looking to use an app to start running). The marketing makes it look personalized, but it started me off running at way too fast a pace, four days in a row, with fast increases in mileage. It doesn’t include a walking warmup or cooldown, and it couldn’t connect with my devices - so it couldn’t accommodate running on a treadmill. All of these things are basic to other running apps. I made the mistake of signing up for membership, used it a single time, spent a good hour trying to figure out if I just didn’t understand the app’s features, and realized it wasn’t going to work for me. Unfortunately they’re only willing to give a 50% refund. So that’s lame - but my own fault for not paying attention to other reviews. There are much betters apps out there. This one unfortunately spent its startup money on marketing, not functionality or coaching expertise.

  4. 5/5Amazing first run!!

The after run feeling is night and day. I actually feel excited to do it again tomorrow. I always felt so discouraged when I tried running in the past but having a clear goal and the on the run cues and encouragements from the app makes such a difference. I actually feel satisfied with my effort and optimistic about reaching my goal of running a 10k in July!!

  5. 5/5Connectivity

I made an assumption that all of these types of apps would connect to Apple products, this one doesn’t. I have to have my phone with me while I run, Ruut doesn’t connect to Apple Watch. I stopped needing to carry my phone on a run a few years ago, how can this app be that far behind??
