1/5More feedback. LUMI wants your feedback sanity and your soul
It is absurd. Absurd. Preposterous. How. Many. Times. I have been asked if I’m enjoying myself. I’m on day one of this app and it interrupts me after every. Single. Two three minute lesson if I’m having a good time. No way to turn this off. If I say yes. It goes away and comes up again and again. If I say no would you like help or to give more feedback?!? Seriously. This is unacceptable and makes me not want to even do this. I’m on day one of using this and it’s making me incredibly frustrated. So now I’m stopping to review your app. Not that anyone I’ll care or make changes. You want me to give you my feedback and won’t stop asking me. So I will just give this and maybe your other potential customers can decide if they want to give perpetual feedback. I am a customer. I will get ahold of you if there’s a problem. If I’m not complaining take my positive review and leave me alone. I’m so peeved that in 2024 we can’t do better than this. Technology. Alllll the data on the app you have about my progress and usage. Yes. I’m enjoying it. But will I keep this and keep using it. Not likely if this pop up continues. Rant. Over. Until it asks me again in five minute. I’m annoyed.

3/5Videos are out of sync?
I bought the Piano M and a year learning subscription for my husband for Christmas. He’s loving it EXCEPT that the video and audio fall out of sync over the course of the video (not every single one but a lot of them), making it almost impossible to play the notes on time. The video and sound begin in-sync when the video starts but over the duration, they no longer match up. I love love love the idea of this product and the app (especially for my gamer husband). The keyboard product is so cool but it’s unfortunate that the reliance on having the app makes-or-breaks the experience. If the app isn’t working properly, the $300 keyboard is pretty much useless. Please fix the app so that the product can be used to its full potential!

2/5Good hardware, bad software
We use Simply Piano and thought this would allow us to continue learning piano when out of the house. The ROLI Piano M hardware is nice, though it is annoying that it doesn’t have internal speakers and requires being paired with a device to use the device’s speakers. But this app is nearly useless for learning piano. All the lessons use a “cascade” view for notes instead of actual music notation, so the skills don’t translate to real sheet music. The song selection is limited, especially for new players. The overall app layout is hard to navigate. You can’t transpose the songs to easier keys, and you can’t search by key to find songs that avoid black keys for beginners. As a last resort we wanted to use it, running on one device, with Simply Piano, running on another device, when away from a real piano. But that is hampered by the fact that you can’t change octaves within the app, so you can only do Simply Piano lessons that use the two octaves above middle C. We had high hopes for this app and have been very disappointed.

2/5Sort of good, but tons of bugs really hurt the experience
Got a couple of ROLI 24 keys to bring while traveling. I haven’t been real happy with most app based lessons - playing Rock Band doesn’t teach how to actually play piano - and was optimistic ROLI Learn might be better. The results have been… middling. There’s a little bit better connection between correlating keys/fingers with notes than Melodics, and the light up keys can be helpful. The song selection a lessons are comparable. It still doesn’t go far enough in terms of tying things in to actual sheet music, which needs to happen if this is meant as a genuine learning app. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust input for visual/audio lag when using Bluetooth, which is a common feature for apps like this and a strange oversight (especially for people trying to learn correct timing). But the biggest problem is the bugs. Sometimes key presses won’t register and the song gets stuck. Keys won’t light up. Completed songs won’t be graded. The app outright freezes. The lessons skip, or won’t track properly. All of the above happened in a ten minute timeframe. These are fundamental problems, and this many bugs shouldn’t have made it through to production. ROLI needs to get this figured out for this product to be worth spending money on. Had I known, I would probably not have purchased this. Last up - why no Mac app? Tying Learn to an iPad isn’t what I really want, and ROLI already has Mac based apps supporting its products. Need to get that going as well.

5/5It finally is REAL!! On my desk ALIVE!!
Worth the wait! I was slow to get it out of the box thinking it would take awhile to figure out the AIRWAVE. Ha…. Plugged it in and it went right to work! I still need time to dial it in and have many questions but like anything it takes a bit of effort to get comfortable. Hooked it to a new iPad and the Learn Piano and AIRWAVE are working fine in the LEARN app. I think i botched the payment marriage to my learn app so I paid for a month to get it going after a year membership payment went somewhere but not on my account yet. I’m sure that can be sorted out as we go along. My next question to get answered does equator work on an iPad? I have it on my Mac. Can I just usb wire to the MACi Mini while the AIRWAVE is plugged into the iPad. Or should i only have it on one computer at a time.

          "body": "It is absurd. Absurd. Preposterous. How. Many. Times. I have been asked if I’m enjoying myself. I’m on day one of this app and it interrupts me after every. Single. Two three minute lesson if I’m having a good time. No way to turn this off. If I say yes. It goes away and comes up again and again. If I say no would you like help or to give more feedback?!? Seriously. This is unacceptable and makes me not want to even do this. I’m on day one of using this and it’s making me incredibly frustrated. So now I’m stopping to review your app. Not that anyone I’ll care or make changes. You want me to give you my feedback and won’t stop asking me. So I will just give this and maybe your other potential customers can decide if they want to give perpetual feedback. I am a customer. I will get ahold of you if there’s a problem. If I’m not complaining take my positive review and leave me alone. I’m so peeved that in 2024 we can’t do better than this. Technology. Alllll the data on the app you have about my progress and usage. Yes. I’m enjoying it. But will I keep this and keep using it. Not likely if this pop up continues. Rant. Over. Until it asks me again in five minute. I’m annoyed.",

          "title": "Videos are out of sync?",
          "body": "I bought the Piano M and a year learning subscription for my husband for Christmas. He’s loving it EXCEPT that the video and audio fall out of sync over the course of the video (not every single one but a lot of them), making it almost impossible to play the notes on time. The video and sound begin in-sync when the video starts but over the duration, they no longer match up. I love love love the idea of this product and the app (especially for my gamer husband). The keyboard product is so cool but it’s unfortunate that the reliance on having the app makes-or-breaks the experience. If the app isn’t working properly, the $300 keyboard is pretty much useless. Please fix the app so that the product can be used to its full potential!",

          "title": "Good hardware, bad software",
          "body": "We use Simply Piano and thought this would allow us to continue learning piano when out of the house. The ROLI Piano M hardware is nice, though it is annoying that it doesn’t have internal speakers and requires being paired with a device to use the device’s speakers. But this app is nearly useless for learning piano. All the lessons use a “cascade” view for notes instead of actual music notation, so the skills don’t translate to real sheet music. The song selection is limited, especially for new players. The overall app layout is hard to navigate. You can’t transpose the songs to easier keys, and you can’t search by key to find songs that avoid black keys for beginners. As a last resort we wanted to use it, running on one device, with Simply Piano, running on another device, when away from a real piano. But that is hampered by the fact that you can’t change octaves within the app, so you can only do Simply Piano lessons that use the two octaves above middle C. We had high hopes for this app and have been very disappointed.",

          "title": "Sort of good, but tons of bugs really hurt the experience",
          "body": "Got a couple of ROLI 24 keys to bring while traveling. I haven’t been real happy with most app based lessons - playing Rock Band doesn’t teach how to actually play piano - and was optimistic ROLI Learn might be better. The results have been… middling. There’s a little bit better connection between correlating keys/fingers with notes than Melodics, and the light up keys can be helpful. The song selection a lessons are comparable. It still doesn’t go far enough in terms of tying things in to actual sheet music, which needs to happen if this is meant as a genuine learning app. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust input for visual/audio lag when using Bluetooth, which is a common feature for apps like this and a strange oversight (especially for people trying to learn correct timing). But the biggest problem is the bugs. Sometimes key presses won’t register and the song gets stuck. Keys won’t light up. Completed songs won’t be graded. The app outright freezes. The lessons skip, or won’t track properly. All of the above happened in a ten minute timeframe. These are fundamental problems, and this many bugs shouldn’t have made it through to production. ROLI needs to get this figured out for this product to be worth spending money on. Had I known, I would probably not have purchased this. Last up - why no Mac app? Tying Learn to an iPad isn’t what I really want, and ROLI already has Mac based apps supporting its products. Need to get that going as well.",

          "title": "It finally is REAL!! On my desk ALIVE!!",
          "body": "Worth the wait! I was slow to get it out of the box thinking it would take awhile to figure out the AIRWAVE. Ha…. Plugged it in and it went right to work! I still need time to dial it in and have many questions but like anything it takes a bit of effort to get comfortable. Hooked it to a new iPad and the Learn Piano and AIRWAVE are working fine in the LEARN app. I think i botched the payment marriage to my learn app so I paid for a month to get it going after a year membership payment went somewhere but not on my account yet. I’m sure that can be sorted out as we go along. My next question to get answered does equator work on an iPad? I have it on my Mac. Can I just usb wire to the MACi Mini while the AIRWAVE is plugged into the iPad. Or should i only have it on one computer at a time.",
