5/5Get i0S bundle- best suite available, imo
Get this as a standalone or get it included in the extremely generous iOS bundle which includes: loopmix, Playbeat3, riffer, chord jam, freezer. The big 4 (excluding freezer) is a sequencists fantasy with 5 dedicated sequencers in each instance of Riffer, you can make it ever evolving and ensure that no sequence loops twice, unless directed. It’s true the UI is kinda terrible, and prevented me from going forward with the bundle, but after a minor tweak was made, it made the UI scale properly when resized so it’s not impossible to use. I am very happy with Riffer, and AudioModern in general for such a quality bundle. I use the apps daily and without issue. I have grown to appreciate the UI as it is standardized across the suite AND LEARNING 1 APP, teaches you how to use all of the bundled apps. You can also score Riffer solo and build up toward the bundle at your own pace. AudioModern has us covered.

5/5Absolutely love it
Riffer is the perfect mix of control and randomness to create some truly great sounding music, not just completely random bleeps and bloops…although it’ll do that if you so desire. It’s let’s to give over control when you don’t want it, but then take it when you do. It’s the first thing I plug in when starting AUM. It’s always the launch point. (Also, THANK YOU for not going subscription.)

1/5Buggy and not made for iPhone
Really wanted to like this app -so disappointed. First, there has been no attempt at all to make this usable with an iPhone screen size. The font size is nearly microscopic on my 8 plus. However, I was willing to live with this once I learned by trial and error where things were and accepted that it would take multiple taps to actually hit my tiny targets. Once I was able to use the app I got many great results and song ideas. Saved them and when reloaded found the patterns were replaced by a single repeating note. Came back a day later and found all my saves were totally gone. Completely useless.

5/5Any Teething Problems Were Fixed Fast Long Ago
Very stable. Been using Riffer since the day it was released. Runs all night and then some without issue. If there is a problem some other app always crashes first. Super easy to use. That counts for a lot when it is late and you just want to get some ambient sounds up and running fast. The randomizer seems fine to me. All the controls seemed to respond to MIDI signals as I recall on the rare occasions I get that motivated. It sounds like some folks need to understand iOS app developers don't have every variation of iPad or iPhone ever made, but, if they'd wait a few days or a couple of minor updates they will find whatever issues they are having will be addressed. At least that has consistently been my experience with music apps. Riffer is the much improved successor to an app, the name of which I can't even remember, but that just proves my point about music app Developers. They, in general, pretty consistently strive to improve their apps. Of course, they really are under no great obligation to keep up with major hardware advances, but, they do for the most part.

5/5My favorite app just got better
The 3.0 update has taken Riffer to a whole new level. The density function adds so many more rhythmic possibilities. Having 4 Riffer instances in one with tuning, velocity, duration, and density capable of being randomized independently or all together gives me an amazing amount of control over just how random everything gets. I already use this app on nearly every single thing I create. I cannot recommend Riffer enough!
