  1. 2/5Okay game. Has a lot of potential

Okay so let me start by saying I have bought the unlimited edition and a lot of the stuff just so I can get the full experience and it was just okay at best. Buying the unlimited version for 1.99 didn’t let me customize the jerseys and teams and play names the way retro bowl did. It’s also very annoying how no player attempts to make a run if I have the ball running down the pitch. It’s also super annoying how a defender will get possession and then automatically clear it and my chance is missed. There’s no defense in this game. It feels like when your playing highlights in fifa career mode and if they clear the ball or you didn’t automatically do what it tells you it says chance missed. The game basically forces you to keep paying real life money just to keep a stable team. Also if you switch teams, like for instance if I’m at Chelsea and switch to Barcelona, Barcelona will automatically have horrible players and training facilities for no reason. I don’t like how the ai doesn’t even play smart they just run, get possession and clear it, same with attackers. Now that all of my complaints are out of the air let me tell you about the good things. The only good thing is that it’s soccer. I’m a huge soccer fan and I’m trying my best to forcefully like this but if you’re just a fan of the developers, you’ll be pretty dissapointed. You’re much better off playing retro bowl. I still think the game is again “Okay” and would get a 6.5/10 for me and has alot of potential to be just as good as retro bowl.

  2. 3/5More good than bad

Don’t get me wrong, I’m gonna play this game a ton. I did for Retro Bowl and RB College. I love the controls, the season dynamics, the loan system, and the fact that upgrades take time. The things that keep it from 5 stars are player management and fascilities. For player management I don’t think it would be crazy to change the system from it being purely on coach credits. Clubs should have a monetary ‘budget’ they can use to sign star players and renew their contracts. Otherwise you’re using all your credits to either keep the meager squad you put together or lose all your players and now a premier league club is left without any star players? It doesn’t make any sense. The other thing is transferring to a new team and having the facilities be worse than your 2nd rate program that you just left. Why would a top tier club like Man City or Liverpool have a trash stadium and no youth program to speak of? I get trying to up the challenge and replay ability, but maybe tweak how drastic the degrade is when moving up to a higher tier team. 7/10 game so far. Lot of fun playing the actual games. Thank you so much devs for the work you have put in so far. Also as a little request maybe make the World Cup mode replayable too. Like trying to take the same national squad to repeat World Cup appearances. Just an idea

  3. 5/5Amazing game, but not flawless

Retro Goal is a fantastic game. As the successor to Retro Bowl, I had high expectations for the game and in many ways, those expectations have been exceeded. However, I do think that the switch from the credits system to the new currency system might not be the best change. The cost of upgrades, contract renewals, etc. seem disproportionately greater than they were in Retro Bowl, and it almost feels like you’re being almost forced to spend real life currency to keep your team afloat.. obviously this is a mobile game so in-game transactions will be important but in Retro Bowl it felt like they weren’t necessary, something I can’t say about Retro Goal.. this is exemplified by the fact that some players in game are only available for purchase with actual money (also it would be nice if the game didn’t practically penalise you for accepting a contract from another team by giving you terrible players and terrible facilities regardless, it doesn’t make sense that accepting a contract from Man Utd would give you awful players, forcing you to have to spend actual money to be able to compete in the Prem, this was also not an issue in Retro Bowl, and thus made it feel a bit more realistic/fair, not incentivising the spending of actual money). It would be nice to see a more balanced in game currency system, but outside of that, I think the game is exemplary, the mechanics are great and it’s really fun, great game.

  4. 4/5Great! Just lacking customization

This game is just as fun as Retro Bow to play. Really enjoy the game play and being able to play across all the different leagues. I really only have two issues with it. The main one is that there is no customization. One of my favorite things in Retro Bowl was that you could completely edit every team’s name, colors, and even their jersey. You could also edit players names as well. That is not something you are able to do in Retro Goal, even after paying the $0.99 for the unlimited version. I think it should be added, because I would to be able to edit all the teams and the player names as well. My other issue is that WAY too many yellow cards are given out to your players. Like I’m having 4-8 yellow cards given out every game, mostly to strikers and forwards, which makes NO sense. Attackers typically get the least fouls. And you don’t have control of this because it happens during the simulation part of game play. It causes an issue where I keep having my attackers suspended every other game almost. It is frustrating, but I enjoy playing the game so I get over it, but it would be much better if it didn’t happen as often. I’m fine with yellow cards be given out to my players, but in actual football matches, there’s normally 1-3 given out in a single game, not as many as I’m getting.

  5. 3/5Logic?

The only few problems I have with this game is like for one, every 4-5 star player wants good training facilities, don’t get me wrong I get that but like if you switch teams it’s hard to get new players because you have to max out the facilities or else you don’t get any players you want. Retro bowl was nothing like that, you could get any player you want without maxing out anything which was much easier and not as complicated as retro goal. Lastly, if you go to a really good team, you should already have great players, for example Bayern, Barca etc you switch to those teams and neither of them have a single good player. Make it make sense! I’m not saying they should be packed but like even if it’s just a 4-5 star defender or midfielder it would be better than nothing. I’m playing as Bayern and I’m literally getting dominated by teams that are trash in real life and I have no good players like what? I like the game yes, but it has a lot of flaws that kinda make the game sour and make you a bit upset. I don’t like how you have to buy the whole version after ten games, retro bowl was a great game that didn’t force you to do that. I did have a 5 star striker and he literally can’t score, all he does is hit crossbar. If you fix these mistakes or at least make the game have a better logic than I would have given it a 5 star.
