Many Americans see this as a rare chance to step outside the carefully curated bubble of U.S. capitals and media-controlled platforms and experience a more unfiltered, diverse world. For some, this is the first time they feel like they’re seeing a global perspective untouched by the influence of American algorithms or corporate agendas. Traditionally, the U.S. is portrayed as a beacon of diversity, but critics argue that American social media platforms often promote a sanitized, homogeneous version of the world. Algorithms are designed to maximize engagement, often feeding users what they want to see—or what corporations and governments want them to see—rather than offering a truly diverse flow of information. This has led to an increasingly narrow perception of the world for many Americans. In contrast, RedNote's content feels fresh and authentic, offering glimpses into real lives and cultures outside of the typical Western narrative. 2. 5/5Information for the Americans

   Writing this as a 5 star so it will show for people. AMERICANS! This is a Chinese app and China has many different things America doesn’t. Remember China has their own constitution and laws which can prevent you from posting the stuff you would on TikTok. This app may seem innocent and friendly but for the Americans it’s far from that. AMERICANS!!! They will not allow videos that contain watermarks, they will take your videos for their own gain and use it for their businesses to make a profit and YOU WILL NOT get anything! THEY ARE VERY SENSITIVE ON HERE anything that is too political or the topic is too sensitive THEY WILL TAKE DOWN THE VIDEO AND BAN YOU! Remember this app is very sensitive. I was banned myself for posting Jesus edits and saying he was Lord and God. This app is far from TikTok and PLEASE LEAVE IT! The people from China may seem welcoming but they are NOT happy we are there, The developers are making new IP servers so people in the US will not see what the people in China post. Why is this bad? People from China have moved to the US and will no longer be able to see what people in China are showing. You are also giving them access to your camera in microphone, which means they can listen to your conversations and see what you’re doing. I am not like the US government and think that all Chinese apps are dangerous BUT rednote definitely is. For your own safety and security please deactivate your account and delete the app. -Official_ZoroEdits

3. 4/5I love it, but need to figure out how to translate

   The Chinese people are so kind and friendly, so willing to share their culture with us, that the whole TikTok debacle ended up being a blessing! The exchange of ideas, history and culture between Americans and Chinese on Red Note is, I believe, an important and historical event. Some of the “Welcome, TikTok Refugees” posts brought me to tears. My only complaint is that I cannot find a way to translate within the app. I can’t read the buttons, so I don’t know what to click! I have had to copy and paste everything to Google Translate. I was able to translate the rules and regulations, because there was a “translate” button that popped up when I highlighted sections of the content. But on the “Creator Center”, I could not highlight anything to get that translator button up. I am hoping the creators will see the need for easier translation capabilities once they realize thousands of Americans have gone to their app from TikTok. Being able to communicate with the Chinese people is so exciting to me that even if TikTok returns, I will keep my Red Note account for as long as the Chinese let me! I highly recommend!

   honestly I really love this app! It shows me the things I want to and the community on there is very nice and respectful. I get to see a lot of gaming, makeup, fashion, and really just stuff that interests me rather than a page full of things I didn’t want like I get with instagram or facebook. And everyone there is really friendly and genuinely wants to interact in a good way, and the community isn’t toxic like a lot of American Meta platforms are, and how I feel TikTok was becoming. I completely switched from TikTok to here because 1) it’s algorithm is a lot like TikTok in showing the stuff you’re genuinely interested in, and 2) it’s not owned by an American company (which are known for mishandling users private data). I fear they sold TikTok to a very evil company and so if you’re looking for a very good alternative and are willing to follow the guidelines and remain respectful on the app, then this is a great option! Side note they also added a lot of features that help Americans out like in app translator and making the platform easier to use for non Mandarin speakers. Super awesome!!

5. 5/5Cool app! Trying to figure out how to use the shopping features

   Really enjoy using this app! I appreciate how supportive and kind the developers are towards English-speaking users despite them not being the main user market. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Chinese is *extremely* limited so having built-in translation for the UI is so very helpful! Thanks for accommodating us and welcoming users outside China to the app. I realize this is a stretch and only offer it as a suggestion, but it would be really fantastic if the shopping functions of the app were made more user-friendly for English speakers in the future. I couldn’t figure it out since some of the interface didn’t auto translate and got overwhelmed. I’m not sure if things can be shipped to me in the USA among other details. Additionally, and I totally understand this is unlikely and once again only respectfully suggest it, I would love if I could pay with PayPal since I’ve seen some wonderful art I want to purchase but I buy everything online via PayPal and I don’t have any other payment app accounts to pay with. Completely understand that PayPal isn’t as common in China though and that it would be a feature primarily for international users. Just wanted to put it out there as a suggestion but understand if it cannot be implemented! Very nice app with a friendly community 👍 Will continue to use it
