1. 3/5The old map will be nice to have as an option

   New Update: I do not like the new map, it’s too tedious and requires lots of swiping as opposed to the old where one flick and I can go from North America to Russia. Additionally, the crossfade set to zero does not work. It still crossfades. 5 stars if these issues are corrected. Old update: I am liking the new update after having subscribed to the app for the past few months, but I do think the old map is a little easier to work with in some scenarios. The new rotational map benefits from more countries displayed but at the expense of speed. The old map is faster for cruising around and finding islands and easter eggs. Also, the old map fit the Radioooo brand better, imo. The rotational map could benefit from making it look more hand drawn. Also, I think the app will benefit from allowing us to select which map we want via the settings. Otherwise, with this new rotational map since it doesn’t feel as fun to use (more technical), I can’t help but think might as well bypass it entirely and provide a country list.

2. 1/5I used to love this app but greed has taken over

   I can totally understand the need to earn money for your work. The thing is, the limited amount of samples a user can access without paying a monthly fee is a modest but good repository to explore. However, due to wanting everyone to pay a subscription fee, this app’s updates keep making it more and more annoying in order to coerce a subscription. Maybe I’m a different sort, but the way a developer will earn my subscription is by demonstrating the appeal of it through the limited free service offered. This app used to be entirely free, then a paid upgrade was added, then the subscription model was added, and along the way, what you got for free was further restricted. But even all of that was not a deal-breaker for me, as far as consideration. But the latest update has the subscription “BEG” window come up again and again and again, literally every time I make a choice, selection, country, style, decade, etc. every time I tap any of the specifics in order to narrow the choices, it comes up. This is not demonstrating the appeal, but rather demonstrating that they will resort to just plain nuisance in order to entice me. And that’s just not going to happen. Sorry, but if you’re the type to resort to that, then I would expect additional obnoxious behavior down the line, and so you’ve accomplished only to DETER me. I wish you would maybe augment the revenue with unobtrusive ad banners on the screen. Seems that style is becoming a thing of the past; being non-intrusive is just so much old-school, and not sufficiently aggravating. Never going to get a dime from me with that kind of approach.

   I've been using Radiooooo since the very beginning, probably 2014 or so. Loved it, even when it was a clunky website I had open on my phone browser. It always gave me fun music and it was a brilliant way to explore decades of music and counties throughout the world. 80s Japan and 60s France were always favorites of mine, though I always started in the 1920s wherever I went if it was possible. I opened the app today, after a long break, to set myself up in 80s Japan again with that weird mood on... only to find that nothing would play. I played around in decades and in countries, and it just kept asking me to sign up for a free trial. Free trial? This site was always free! That's why I used it! I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me play any music— ANH MUSIC AT ALL— until I realize the whole thing wants me to pay for it. I don't want a free trial. I want the free app. Absolutely heartbroken to leave Radiooooo after over a decade of fantastic music journeys, but I'm not paying for something that was always free to me.

4. 5/5The Best So Far

   I awoke this morning with terror in my heart. I am a giant fan of what Radioooo offers to me and my species in general, even though I don't use it as often as I'd like to (no reason beyond human unreason). I think I am bouyed by the sense that they are there and at any moment I can bring up the app and ... be alive. The terror was this: What if the Radioooo people can't keep going? What if (gulp/sob) it all ENDS suddenly??!!? It was like a more intense 'What-if-Google-somehow-buys-out-Mozilla' feeling. A coooold feeling, as clinically anesthetizing as the lumens emitted by the fixtures that illuminate the aisles of Walmart. I shivered, I shook. I'd have cried, but what the hell good would that do?? I opened the app and as a random nation poured its past into my ears, I read the News: Radioooo is starting something new, and really cool. And tangible! I don't care what it is. I don't care what they do, as long as they keep going. I'm going to give them money, since I can't think of anything more useful to give.

5. 3/5Great but needs work

   This is a wonderful app, it’s a great way to discover music, specifically obscure music from the past. If you’re looking to find pop music that was most played in those countries, this isn’t really the place. My one issue which is the same issue everyone else has, is that my tracks are declined for no reason. I submitted some really beautiful tracks which have been declined, and I can’t think of a reason why. The mp3 audio I submitted was perfect. It’s just kind of frustrating when I’m listening around on Radiooooo and I see the same 5 people that have uploaded tracks. It’s probably the employees who just upload whatever they want, meanwhile reject everyone else's. There’s gotta be a better system than that. It’s a cute idea that every song is listened to and handpicked by a human, but just because YOU didn’t like a track doesn’t mean someone else won’t. It’s very biased. Perhaps there can be a section called the “user database” where it’s just tracks submitted by the public. It can be listened to by moderators to make sure its a legit song, but take away the employee bias and just have a section where the app/website users are free to add whatever they want as long as it’s a real song. Maybe one day my track will be accepted. But for now I will continue using this site to find new music. It could use a few updates, it kind of seems like it’s still in beta mode. But nonetheless it is useable.
