1. 5/5Great, cheap, and effective. Highly recommended!

   I don’t do many reviews on apps - I’ve used this VPN for over a year now after I left whatever provider I was using before because of some shady behavior or maybe a Netflix issue I don’t recall. Look the app and service are an excellent value, but what prompted me to write this review was coming upon the listing in the store and seeing the latest update notes. They are ACTUAL UPDATE NOTES, not “blah blah generic bug fixes” nonsense. Listen carefully - people/companies that take the time to do such things are the ones who actually give a crap about the user experience - they respect their customers and honor their time and money by treating them as adults. REWARD when you see stuff like this because it’s getting RARER AND RARER!

2. 1/5Unbelievably slow speeds

   I can’t believe I put up with this junk app for the last 3 years!! Unfortunately I was lured into a 5 year subscription and was foolish enough to sign up for the offer without trying it first. Ever since the first day, I noticed that my speed was ridiculously slow and downloads took for ever. A 100mb file would take 20-25 minutes to download and I have rarely seen speeds above 1 Mbps on Speedtest apps. Fortunately I don’t use VPN much, maybe once or twice per month so I bit the bullet since I had already paid for the next 5 years. Despite my many emails and complaints, their customer service only suggestion was to try a different server. Of course that was no help since I have tried most of the servers with no luck. Last week I decided enough was enough and signed up with another app, and boy did I feel the difference!! The new app was more expensive, but is lightning fast. Literally 100 times faster. In the past on Speedtest my speed was 0.88Mbs, but with the new app it would hit 100Mbps. So yes I am annoyed. What a waste of 3 years. I will delete purevpn now and gladly give up the remaining 2 years for my comfort. Never again will I be lured into a long term subscription without trying first.

   I filed a complaint on this review sheet and saying that PureVPN is total scam and is really bad. Now just because of that have you guys banned me from connecting because starting yesterday afternoon I couldn’t connect even to single server and all the days before it had worked. And now it’s still not working. If you guys are really like this then I would say that YOU shouldn’t gimme a crappy response and think that’s gonna work. Hopefully you can improve in the future and not disappoint your customers and have better responses to these reviews than just saying sorry. Plus reviews in the comments said slow connections and bad streaming speed and stuff like that and YOU, PureVPN has always been answering like “thanks for bringing this to our attention” or “ We are sorry and will get on this matter right away”. And it has been 4 to 6 years since those responses. And you have done nothing. Done nothing to help your customers, help improve the speeds and when they say the customer help service is bad, you have done NOTHING to improve the customer service in 4 to 6 years. What a vpn you are. Maybe get a life and I don’t care if you ban again because I am so done with this vpn.

4. 3/5Multiple attempts to get this right

   At first it was disconnecting almost every 20-30 minutes . After deleting the configuration it had installed the first time I download this app and deleting the one I had Manually installed in my iPhone settings before I got the app . I then re down loaded the app and allowed it permission to everything it asked and do it on a fresh setting . It finally worked for about 11 hours before it stop connecting and then I had to disconnect and reconnect again But it worked for a while no problems . So that better then before where it would disconnect every 20-30 minutes . The thing is that if you loose signal . It will disconnect and be a pain to reconnect so be carful with that and sometimes the server just goes down and you have to re install and you’ll notice it will be on a new server when you do . I give it a 3 . It works but it doesn’t do a good job continuing to work after it looses connection for whatever reason. I have to close , and play with it till I it comes back . Make sure you put always on or sometimes it will Disconnect and leaks your data .

5. 1/5Who wants their VPN service tied to your AppleID?!

   Got better AND worse - now FORCES another Apple iD connection. 2022 UPDATE - App developer response says contact support as more detail is needed. I have been going back and forth with PureVPN support for weeks now - and the issue continues to be either ignored, intentionally rephrased as so something else - and no me tionas to why PurrVPN now REQUIREs an AppleID? Maddening. 2022 UPDATE While PureVPN has gotten better, the iOS software now REQUIRES an extra link attached to an Apple ID to access the app. Yep, a VPN that now forces an Apple ID sign in. When concerns were shared about this nee requirement, support responds by suggesting customers create another Apple ID for this purpose. ——- 1) Requires manually connecting after device sleeps. ALWAYS have to manually connect. Huge PIA quickly. 2) Most tech support chats result in "delete and reinstall the app" or instructions to manually configure OpenVPN. Support is off-shore btw. 3) Too many taps to turn on or change locations. No Today shortcuts for example. 4) May not work with your cell provider ... and support does not know what to do to address.
