1. 5/5The Forecast Alerts Should Be Thought Of Differently

   I use your app constantly for sailing and I commend you for a job well done (as I was a programmer for 50 years). As a suggestion, I would like the Forecast Alert be more precise and here is why. If you sail and are going out for the day, one hour that the parameters that are set up by the user meets the predicted wind speed, etc., the user receives an alert. But the alert might be for just the first hour and the rest of the day there might be too little or too much wind. The set up of the alert should be if the user sets the alert from 10:00am - 2:00pm, the parameters should be met for all 4 hours and then an alert would sent out. It would just add a very powerful element to your app for all the day sailors out there that could use your app more efficiently. Just a thought!

2. 5/5a bit non-intuitive to cancel but exceptional customer service

   have used this app for a few years Sailing in the Caribbean. I no longer have the boat and he app only allows auto renew, but I didn’t cancel it before the auto renew. Logged in through the website and tried to downgrade to free to cancel it, but it simply went lighter and didn’t seem to complete. Went to the app on my phone, and was able to delete my account. I received an email from customer service, refunding the renewal and explaining the auto-renewal, and handing my comments to development to see if they can improve. The app is good, but customer service exceptional, earning a 5 star rating.

3. 5/5Bait and Switch

   I have used this apps for a couple of years. This year I upgraded to basic as we are cruising up the inside passage to Alaska. The basic package says it includes 1km resolution forecast maps; 9 saved forecast locations; wave, rain, cloud, isobar maps; wind observations; and forecast alerts. I don’t get most of that. After emailing the help desk they told me I only get one 1km resolution map, as in 1 and never another and I don’t get wave maps. Those are the only reasons I upgraded. There are several other apps that will give you the information they are giving for free. Skip if you want more detail or want to deal with an honest company. If I could post a picture of what they tell is included I would.

4. 5/5Don’t put your money on it

   This weather app has been a ride, it looks nice and fancy with all kinds of features and stuff and boy do you want to believe it. Couple of weeks ago I was going to get the paid version and then I saw the price so I thought let me wait a little bit longer. Well, I’m really happy I did. They have been wrong a a good bunch of times, but it always comes down to “its weather” anyways. Today I write this review because I took this App “to the bank” literally. this is the complete opposite of what they said it was going to be and what an embarrassing mistake. This weather app just screwed up my bosses, golf trip.

5. 5/5The best weather app for sailors

   When I crossed the Atlantic I relied on PredictWind for a daily update. We were able to avoid some bad weather and maximize sailing time to avoid motoring, and that meant that refueling in expensive places like Fernando de Narhonha and St Helena was minimized. As we cruised up and down the Caribbean and the Easter US, PredictWind really helped us plan departures to maximize efficiency and speed and comfort. The amount of information available is amazing and useful. Some models are better in some places. They are always improving the models and in recent updates the ability to predict sudden localized weather changes is much improved.
