5/5Great accurate App! So impressed!
I don’t ever write reviews for apps at all but I just had to for this one! I have been searching for an accurate informative plant id app recently and tried several different ones. I decided to test each app with plants I already own and know for sure what they are. One app after another ID’d every single plant wrongly, sometimes to a ridiculous level. I was gonna give up and then tried this one. Every single one of my known plants was identified correctly immediately! After so many failed apps I was so happily surprised with how accurate this one was and all the different information options there are available. Every single paid for app I tried was wrong but this free one managed to actually do its job and do it so well! I will always use this app going forward! Excellent job whoever created this app, it is so refreshing to have an advertised product actually do what it says it’s going to do without any lies, misrepresentations or manipulations in its advertising. Other app creators take notice, this is how you do it right and keep your customers very happy and dedicated to your product! Great Job!!

5/5Best Plant App (Free!)
I have tried almost every plant identification app out there. This is the only one I absolutely love. And it’s free! Aside from that, though, I love this app because you can add pics of your own to try to identify. Instead of just throwing you something it might be and saying “this is what this is” like most other apps, this one lists it out. Depending on your pic quality depends on the percentage of plant comparisons it gives you, however, it seems to be no less than 95% right every time. There was only one plant I scanned that wasn’t what they listed (and I knew that is what that plant was), but my pic was a really bad shot, so it was probably my fault. I’ve been using this app for a couple months (and I am constantly doing something on it). I absolutely love it. It’s also community open, so if the app isn’t sure what it could be, they’ll put it in the community for other educated people to add their input. You can look species up by region, family, genius, or just by name/characteristics. I’m learning so much about the region I live in simply by looking at the plants and flora and weeds in that specific region. I love how it lists other names the plant is known by, a world map of where it can be found, and photos of it all. The photos!!! You can identify or search something via leaf, flower, bark/stem, fruit, habitat, or other (which is kinda a mix of this or roots or whatever doesn’t fit in the other categories). Well worth your time! I probably wouldn’t recommend any other plant ID app — this one really takes the cake. I have already recommended this app to a ton of other people, and they like it, too. If you’re looking for a plant ID app, and you’re not sure or feeling hopeless with the search, give this one a try — it just might surprise you.

5/5Awesome App
I’m a total novice so I can’t follow all the Family/ Genus stuff. It’s over my head. But the app lends itself to basic use too by listing the common names. My favorite part though is when you search a plant, the options offer pics of the flower, leaves, bark, etc.. There’s even a Wikipedia tab so you can read about the plant which can help in identification. Because it’s user driven, there’s good and bad. The good: TONS of submitted photos. The bad: Not all the submitted pics will be of the advertised plant (just means someone made a poor identification and “contributed” it to the database). This can fool you into thinking it’s something it’s not. It’s also up to the user network to “validate” everyone’s observations. Sadly there’s no flora-genius overseeing the thousands of contributions to determine the accuracy. That’s just wishful thinking. You’re relying on someone plant-savvy to stumble across your contribution and choose to validate you. Overall a kickass app. And it’s free! I’m learning slowly, but learning a lot.

4/5My Fav App, But
This is really the only app I use for Plant ID. I like the community effort that goes into the data, especially different photo inputs from people because it helps me compare and see slight differences for comparison. It’s the app I recommend to other plant enthusiasts. I prefer it because I like the layout, it’s usability, and it’s accessibility. Other apps are behind a paywall or require sign up with personal information; I never get far enough to use them - I delete those almost as soon as they are installed. One thing I dislike about this app is that while more information for the plants are available by clicking on the plant name after you ID your photo(s) is that there is no way to highlight the text to copy/paste OR share the findings with another. I have to manually look up the plant again in a search engine using the common name and then find the Wiki article again. I can’t memorize the scientific names, or type them all out when sharing on the go in a busy day.

5/5PlantNet Is funded by grants and contributions-not Ads
A 100% free app with no Ads or in app purchases! (I rarely take the time to write a review and have no affiliation with this app or it’s developer’s) I wanted a free app that could identify plants growing in my garden. I gave up after deleting a half dozen or more that were inaccurate, Ad driven, or just plain didn’t work. My wife suggested I break down and buy one so I searched for suggestions. A review from a highly reputable tech page had PlantNet at the top of their list so I gave it a go but with low expectations since it was “Free” app. I IMMEDIATELY LIKED THIS APP! On the surface it came off as a user friendly guide to help identify plants growing in my Garden and simple enough to navigate that my elderly mother might even enjoy it. Digging deeper I was stunned (still am) by the resource it placed in the palm of my hands. It’s amazing! I might not understand a lot of it, (ok 99%) as I’m a novice gardener at best, but coming across one of Darwin’s sketches of a plant I’ve had for years was surreal. There’s pages of information on every single plant recognized by the scientific community with hyperlinks to university study’s, scientific publications, even occasional original journal entry’s by the explorers searching the globe for new discovery. At this point the tips to keep them alive in spite of my propensity for killing them slowly is just an added bonus. All this for every plant in the scientific database. I’ve used it to create a catalog of what’s in my yard. Adding details that I find interesting. It’s taken my new love for gardening to a whole new level. In a industry driven by the almighty dollar, It’s refreshing to find an app that’s funded by individual contributions, grants, and powered by Volunteers. Please don’t stop what your doing! You have made my wife happy and me in the dirt. Sincerely, Mike Jones from Raleigh NC
