1. 5/5There’s a lot to like with Planty

   PROS: 1. FREE - and doesn’t bug you to buy premium in order for it to work. 2. Doesn’t try to trick you into a free trial 3. Plant id via camera/photos works better than any of the other plant ID apps I’ve used in the past 4. Superbly designed - the Pet Toxicity banner in the plant’s profile is really helpful 5. Clean UX - (one thing i would modify is that it can be a bit tricky to go “back” once you want to add a plant but don’t necessarily have time to take or upload a photo of the plant. I do wish we could add the plant and either use a default photo of the plant, or skip the photo to initially add it, and then return to it later.) 6. I can see the direction this app is headed and think it has the most potential 7. It’s just dang cheerful CONS: 1. Sometimes the information about the plant species is incomplete. 2. Occasionally, a plant will have a duplicate in the database with less/different/conflicting information so it can be slightly confusing. 3. Wish there was a way to toggle the information on each plant’s profile for care information. For example, see temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit. 4. Information - Again, just wish there was more consistency to the info and also some of the plant care information looks like it was limited to a certain number of characters/text. It cuts off midway through and can be frustrating.

2. 2/5Overpriced for incorrect information & asked early for rating.

   There is not a free version. You will be asked early for rating while they let you use the app maybe 5 times for free, but allowing only one plant. They’re diagnosed one plant correctly, they allow one free plant. They can and have actually misdiagnosed a plant for illness. They misdiagnosed one of my plants. A burnt leaf is not pests, someone splashed water on it like a —-, nevermind. I moved the plant because said 55 yo person couldn’t stop acting like a a child in the sprinklers during Summer. (IN THE SHOWER, WITH A CURTAIN. I swear I have to move all plants away from this brown thumb from just sitting next to a plant. I’m joking partially, but not about the shower. Not at all.) After diagnosis, or settling in with your first plant, they hit you with the trial and subscription offer locking you out completely unless you choose. I find their subscription fees overpriced, especially when they are misdiagnosing. There is not a free version. I would suggest an improvement on diagnosis, your broad range of possibilities can be found on Google and your "most likely” was incorrect. I am not going to commit to a trial or subscription before I know whether I actually need or want your app. Please consider a free lite free version with in-app purchases for others. ~A neighbor of a horticulturist, a green thumb Mother of a Botanist looking out for other plant lovers.

3. 2/5Great features, none of them work (for me)

   Was interested in trying this app mainly for the light metering because the ubiquitous descriptions of ‘partial shade’, ‘direct filtered’ are just too ambiguous for me. Was hopeful but got suspicious over functionality when every plant metered ‘too dark.’ So even when I put the light meter directly touching a turned on grow light it would barely budge above saying it was in complete shade. I tested my phone using an input monitoring app and get the response I’d expect from the light sensor on the front of my phone. I do have an older phone and maybe the APIs are difficult to program with but this function was useless to me. Same with the photo identification, couldn’t get them better than 50% of the time which is pretty good all things considered but then a library that was missing a lot of my plants which I know the species names of, and then many listings with no pictures to verify for plants I don’t know the species of just made this really frustrating. Also it would be nice if the app would immediately show a stock photo of what it thinks it identified because just giving me the common name is worthless. Almost would recommend not including common names at all as anyone avidly invested in their plants shouldn’t use them: there’s like 8 different species with different needs called “Swiss cheese plants” and Google around and you’ll find hundreds of completely different families of plants called “money plants/trees”. TLDR beautiful app, great functionality but not a scrap of it works for me. Might try again on a newer phone but not worth it for me at this time.

4. 5/5LOVE THIS APP!!!!<3

   this app is Amazing it gives you notifications when you need to water your plants I'm really bad at remembering when I need to water my plants I've killed so many plants this makes me stop killing plants and it's amazing you can add plants into this little place called your garden and it gives you notification and it tells you more stuff about it it identifies different plants she can go around and you can see this one Clayton and you're like what is that plant and it'll tell you what plant today's it's mostly always right and you can't even name your plants because if you didn't now I like the name my plants and I think they stick to its overall just a great app and I definitely recommend it especially if you're starting to lean plants I am a huge plant mom I love plants and it's amazing

5. 4/5Great App but Support is not easily found on the app

   I really like the app and it keeps me on target for when to water my plants because I never can remember when I watered what plant and when. However, my app shows notifications but have no clue where to find what the notifications are referring too. There is no place to contact support to ask questions about the app. Bugs me that my app shows I have 2 notifications but I have no idea what it’s referring too. I’ve clicked on the “?” Mark and it tells me to “finish setting up my mail setup”. But that’s all it says and doesn’t regret me to anywhere. I have gone to my email accounts and have not received any notifications there so I have no idea what it’s talking about. Basically, it’s a good app for just basic needs but lacks in way of support when things go awry with the app.
