5/5Best Gym Experience
I’ve been to many different gyms throughout my life and a lot of them are good but PF is spectacular! I recently upgraded my membership to the black card for $10 more after years of going to this place thinking I would never use the amenities and machines because it sounded gimmicky but I took an afternoon off to just check them out and I’ve been mind blown ever since. You literally make your money back from the first tanning sesh alone. They have modern equipment and they all look clean and well maintained. Best part is there are never any long lines ever. After you have made your money back with your first tan sesh you can now make money just by using the collagen/red light therapy. You can easily spend $85-$150/ session on this machine if you go to specialists to get the treatment done with the same machine. At PF you can go whenever you want as many times as you want. Then when you just thought it couldn’t get any better they’ve got an entire massage room to melt into their massage chairs and dissolve all your stress and tangled knots away after a good workout. All this for just an extra $10!! I went from $15 to $25/month and I’m so happy about PF . Btw the gym is ALWAYS well organized, maintained and filled with respectful/ super friendly workers. And the gym is NEVER crowded. PF has been a tremendous fortune in my life.

4/5The crowd meter is useless
I haven’t tested out everything else on the app; I do my own workout and I’m sure there are MANY amazing tools for people and the crowd meter is just one tiny thing compared to the vast ways this app can benefit your workout, HOWEVER: I think it’s a big deal since I bet EVERYONE looks at it and regardless of how a person works out, NO ONE likes working out in a gym that’s too crowded; that’s universal and I WOULD be using this feature all the time if it were actually accurate. The crowd meter on the app is deceptive and stupid. I was there the other day with two bars and it was pretty busy. I had to wait to use some equipment, and at that point I checked again and it had 3 bars. It never filled in more bars than that though. So by this logic 4 bars should be maxed out; or 5 bars MAYBE if there are like, lines to use everything! Why would it go up to TEN BARS and make us think it isn’t busy! The fact that PF tries to make it LOOK like it isn’t very busy renders the whole thing useless and deceptive. I thought it was a neat feature that I’d use a lot when I signed up, but now I see it’s only a marketing ploy and PF is a lot busier than anyone would ever want. You should be truthful about it and 3 bars should really be around 7. Or change it to 5 bars being the max. Either way, the way it’s set up now with 10 bars and only having it at 2-3 all week long is misleading and pointless.

4/5No Fitness Class Available!
There has been the problem with some of the PF locations not offering training classes due to the staff failing to hire trainers although they advertise that they offer them for members which is included as part of their membership. However members are aware that they are paying for this service out of their monthly fees and/or from the annual fees they’re being charged for at the location where they signed up. Apparently, it has been weeks, if not months with no available fitness coaches throughout the LA locations. Who do we report this to? Perhaps the district managers? It just seems that they are not seeking or hiring them out of due diligence and rather letting this part of the job slip. Also their app lets you schedule the appointment times with the opening slots even though there are no trainers available for those times at all. Goodness, that is misleading. The staff are aware of this issue yet they don’t seem to take this up to the corporate. If they did the it should’ve been somewhat fixed by now. However if you don’t have coaches at your locations, let the members be aware of it by posting signs at the gym so they know the current update. We’d love to see those classes to become available with what they’re claiming on the PF website!

4/5Good, but could be better.
Having just joined Planet Fitness the other day I have now had the chance to take its app for a test run - so to speak. The app itself is very helpful for a complete newbie such as myself. I appreciate the ability to see how the different machines work via videos found by using QR codes on the machines. I also like the ability to use the membership card on the app - though, for some reason I’ve got to figure, it does not work on my Apple Watch. The one place I really, really hope the app developers fix is the ability to add the exercises one engages in. For example: today I did arm curls, bicep curls, front fly, chest press, hammer curl, and up/down/oblique abdominals. Not a single one of these exercise are listed in the “add an activity” section of the app. Why on earth wouldn’t you have each machine you have in your gym listed on your app? Please consider adding in the ability to list the machines used, the weights used, and time spent (or even reps) along with the other information you allow currently. Being able to add these is will more accurately reflect my actual “mins of exercise”, “activities this week”, “calories burned”, and “mins per active day”.

1/5Xcapture replacement is terrible
As a developer myself, I feel really bad reading the reviews here, as I can tell a lot of work was put into updating the design of this app. However the reason I came here is to see if anyone else had written about how to properly log a photo of my TREADMILL workout, literally the most common cardio machine at any gym. Unbelievably, my worst fear confirmed, the app no longer has the “treadmill” option, and they have also “discontinued” the snap a workout feature. That feature was so helpful for me tracking my fitness history. But ok, I have to enter manually now, I could reluctantly accept that. Then I learned that to add insult to injury, you can only use the “walking” option as the closest thing to treadmill, and there you can only log your speed and minutes, not your calories or incline. From reading reviews, I learned the super buried feature where if you enter your height and weight, it will calculate the calories, however without the incline info, the calculation is way off. Friends, I feel bad saying this but this update is *terrible* — I have never regretted updating an app on this level. The old version was ugly, but it was super useful, and i used it a lot for a very important part of my life. The new version is useless to me. I have been an iphone user since 2008, and I this is the first time i can remember writing any app review. I can only hope you can work quickly to restore needed features to your paying customers.

Love tracking my workouts, but I would like more options to fill in ... miles, lbs, target (example: core, abs, glutes) etc. for each type of machine. I know it is asking a lot, but it would be nice.
